Good Points: Grand and spectacular venue but down to earth at the same time.

General comments: Thank you so much for helping to organise such a fantastic day for us. It was the best day of our lives and a large part of that was down to the venue. Everyone has commented on how grand and spectacular the setting is but down to earth and welcoming at the same time, a difficult combination to manage but done perfectly by you and the team. There were lots of small touches that we were not even aware of at the time but all contributed to the overall success. I am sure all the guests will recommend Orchardleigh as a wedding venue in the future.

We got married at Orchardleigh on the 18th May 2008 and I have to say it was the most special day ever. Orchardleigh as a venue is fantastic: food, the rooms, the bar, the staff... We were looked after by Sarah Foster and she did everything we could have asked of her & more. The girls and guys on the day did everything without being too in your face. There is a sense that they are too layed back, I suppose, but that what makes the venue special, comfortable and unique. They couldn't do more too ...

I got married recently at Orchardleigh and all i can say is WOW. The day was perfect, i had a coordinator throughout the day and she helped out with everything. The food service was faultless and the next morning they had boxed our wine and cake for us to take away. Even helped me pack the car with all the flowers we had which were also maginficent. I found all the staff very help and even met an owner who drank and danced with us. It was my dream come true.

We met with planner occasionally and provisionally booked a date for July 2009. We had trouble getting hold of them after our visit and left numerous messages with receptionists for them to get back to us as to when we could pay the cash deposit (they said if we paid cash we could get a discount). Each time we reiterated that we definitely wanted the date and the receptionists confirmed that we had the date. They informed us that they were very busy with weddings but they would let us know asa ...

My daughter and her fiance, both doctors who live and work abroad, fell in love with Orchardleigh on the internet and arranged for me to go and visit in March. When I called to confirm they had no record of the appointment - but hey, mistakes happen, right? - so I rescheduled for early April . We were all very excited thinking I'd just be crossing Ts and dotting Is. All went swimmingly until we sat down to talk money - and it was revealed for the first time (nothing on the web site at all - chec ...

My wedding was a perfect day and was made even more special by the continual helpfulness of the staff and owners. They were open to all my ideas and were the perfect hosts for my wedding reception and had enough rooms for everyone!

We just wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Orchardleigh House for everything they did to make our wedding truly the most PERFECT day. We couldn't have hoped or dreamed of anything better. All the staff were so kind and helpful; working so hard to please all of our guests. Orchardleigh really is the most fantastic venue, and it was so warm and inviting on the day with all of the beautiful fireplaces lit. The catering was fantastic; we are still thinking about that dessert, it was amazing! We canno ...

Great house, beautiful venue. Organisation of the place is totally chaotic - some of the staff are totally unhelpful and disorganised. Worse of all though, they are completely misleading and unresponsive. If you plan on booking there - be very wary - as the other reviews suggest, the day can go off great, but check all the details and hold your breath for the wedding date. Give them credit - they do seem to pull things together at the last minute to make it happen. But word to the wise: Don't ex ...

I cannot beleive the review I have just read on this page! I don't think that they got married at the Orchardleigh House that I did because my day was (as it should be) the most wonderful and memorable day of my entire life. This house gets under your skin and the staff... well after the long journey I went through with them to get to the big day I consider some of them now as friends. I entered totally into the Orchardleigh spirit as did my guests and I feel I must set the record straight. T ...

Orchardleigh is undoubtedly a beautiful venue, and we thoroughly enjoyed our wedding day. However, with just a few pointers this could be transformed into an operation of a much higher standard (first tip - lose the fake flowers inserted in the weeds in the grounds!). Unfortunately, several members of the most important staff are overworked which appears to result in a general lack of interest and attention to detail. As just one example, despite supplying floor plans for the Wedding Breakfast ...

We had plenty of trips around to have a look and figure out the plans - we could even decide who slept in which of the rooms! The wedding co-ordinators just let us run with our plans for all of the arrangements and the sun was shining as the guests strolled down to the lovely church. Fine food, fine wines (just corkage charged), late dancing and drinks - just one great party!!!

Firstly I believe it necessary to mention that I am the groom. (As it seems like there are only Brides on this site!) So it would appear as though I have a slightly unique perspective on Orchardleigh. We got married on New years eve, 2006/2007 and have just returned from our honeymoon. While away I decided that I would have to tell everyone about Orchardleigh as my Wife (hehe!, still getting use to that!) tells me she had read some bad reviews about the venue. I have to say, if you have foun ...

The day at Orchardleigh House in Somerset went well. We had flowers in the church and in the house, which were done by the local florist (Lesley's Flower Shop) - absolutely stunning. I could not have asked for anything any better. With Lesley's they knew the house so well, and they were able to give us great advice on what to do. Not just about flowers, but about the house as well. The food was excellent! We did go for the set menu's. I would recommend not to go for breakfast, because the g ...

Absolutely superb day. The food was really good. Wine and champagne kept flowing nicely. The venue is stunningly beautiful, and we even got sunshine in November! Our guests had a fantastic time, and they all say it was a memorable occasion. The organisation on the day was perfect. Relaxed and unobtrusive, but everything happened exactly as we asked. Can't fault it at Orchardleigh House!

Orchardleigh House is absolutely wonderful - really great venue. The chapel is a beautiful place for the wedding, and having the whole place for the day makes for a day to remember. We booked the Gloucester Lodges and a few other cottages on the Friday night, and got married on the Saturday. This meant we could relax the day before with no mad rushing around - really great day. Just make sure you're all over the staff to ensure they book the right day and accommodation (we had a bit of toing ...

We had a slow start but once we had Naomi of Orchardleigh House, as our wedding organizer, we felt confident and she was always responsive and had a calm and pleasant way of dealing with our barrage of questions. Nothing was too much trouble and she dealt with last minute changes with great flexibility. On the big day Naomi was always around for help but made us feel as if we had the place to ourselves. The food was delicious and even though we went off the planned menus, the chef was also ...

Orchardleigh has taken a bit of a knocking recently from some of the recent reviews mainly due to a lack of returned emails and calls and perceived lack of organisation. I want to set the balance straight as I read some of these reviews before my wedding on 7th July 2006 and they made me a bit nervous whether I had chosen the right venue. I did. Orchardleigh was amazing. It is true that they don't always get back to you when you write, email or call them (they do about half the time) but they t ...

Good food, good value excellent party atmosphere. Watch out for the poor organisation skills of the staff at Orchardleigh House in Somerset. During the organisation you will end up in floods of tears over this.
