Best mascara ever, period. I have thin and short asian lashes and this mascara makes me look like I have fake lashes on. It is AMAZING. I've been on the hunt for a new mascara to replace this for over a year and NOTHING has come close to this when I've tried more than 10 other mascaras (everything from the other l'oreal lines, maybelline, lancome etc). I don't understand why they discontinued this... Please bring it back. I am so upset!!! (read more)

This is the only mascara that I use now since buying one over a year ago. I replace it every month even though it could probably last a lot longer. POSITIVES: I must have used over 20 different mascaras in the past, and none are as effective as this. Thicker, longer lashes that people have commented on in the past, even as far as thinking they are fake! EVERYTIME i use this mascara ALL of my friends comment on how pretty my eyes look! The mascara makes your eyelashes bolder, longer and more defined... I strongly reccomend this product. When you apply the mascara it seems as if you have false eyelashes on... the only thing that wasnt that great about it was the removal... it is waterproof and so (with all waterproof mascaras) are harder to get off. I have tried every mascara out there. I have to sey the best mascara i have came accross is the l'oreal volume shocking mascara. I have tried waterproof and the non waterproof. I prefer the non water as it comes off easy with soap and water. Over all this product does add volume. I have really short eyelashes and this one definetly makes them looklonger with no clumps. This was the best mascara ever - the primer seemed to be a key to helping the black mascara work better and the comb of the black mascara was the best brush I've ever used/the longest lasting brush without the product getting clumpy. My lashes were always made to look long and well separated so stood out like you would expect from a decent mascara. Can't believe they have discontinued it as I loved it and will be going online to buy it asap. (read more)

hi can i just say i have used this mascara for over 6 years and it is the best mascara in the worlddddd i have fine short lashes and this non clumpy! gives spider effect and u can literally apply it till u get the size of lashes u like. i have tried many others even lancome and nothing absolutly nothing comnpares !!!I work at superdrug and this product has recently been discontinuaed u would not belive the amount of customers that have sat and said how gutted they are as this is the best... I have now been to two drugstores --this mascara doesn't seem to be available... PLEASE don't discontinue! I have tried two others and have been extremely disappointed. Volume Shocking is the most excellent mascara on the market and retailers such as Boots and Superdrug are informing customers it is no longer available.
There was nothing to dislike about this product you could not improve it.
I'm aware of several people who are now searching other products to replace this outstanding mascara.
Please bring it back!!!

I'm disappointed that I couldn't find this in my local CVS recently, are they replacing it with a new kind?
The comb-brush took a few tries to get used to. The brush is great because it really puts a good amount of mascara on the lash the very first coat, so you really don't need more than the base white coat and one black coat. If you do need to add more than one black coat, the mascara can make your eyelashes a little spidery (like one reviewer said). But, after a few times and realizing...

I got this on clearance at Rite-aid, but although the the primer was fabulous, the mascara is kind of watery than creamy, and the applicator was incredibly awkward. I ended with spider lashes and clumping. It is undoubtedly the worst mascara I have tried. (read more)

I love this mascara i have used so many... the comb always make my lashes look at thier absolute best :) i always get compliments when i wear it people always think im wearing falsies... ive ran out at the moment but ive been using some extreme volume stuff which i hate, so ive been using the comb from my volume shocking and it still looks nice. LOreal Volume Shocking works but makes me look like I have spider legs. They don't look super natural, takes longer to put it on and make it not clump together. End up with thick giant eyelashes that are composed with other ones. If you're willing to take the bit of extra time to make it not clump then i guess its worth it. (read more)

Overall I don't like LOreal Volume Shocking mascara but I got it on sale for 4 bucks so it was still worth it. The only thing work for me is the base. The base is amazing it makes my lashes look thicker instantly. The mascara itself I don't use because it tend to make my lashes clump really badly. (read more)

The haircolouring on the package matches the haircolouring you end up with after using the haircolouring product. After applying the haircolouring it was extremly runny. It ran down my face and neck and was very, very messy.
When it came time to wash the haircolouring out, it had turned into gunck that no matter how much I tried to wash it out, it would not come out. I have used L'Oreal Haircolouring product for three years without any complaints. I think that they must have changed...

I really wish this worked really well for me, but I don't like the brushes as they make my lashes clump really badly, so I use the forumula with another mascara brush which makes it work really nicely. I also only use the black side as the white completely wrecks my lashes. :( (read more)

1 coat is great for everyday use 2 coats ideal for night out! It make your lashes thicker fuller than any other mascara out there. God, believe me I have tried them all. I am a retailers dream, I see the advert and think that looks amazing and buy it just to find it's rubbish but this mascara is fantastic for volume and length. Doesn't clump at all. Doesn't curl but god that would be asking a bit too much. I always curl before with eye lash curlers and when finished with heated curlers. (read more)

I love Loreal Volume Shocking mascara!
I am obsessed with makeup and my favorite part of applying makeup is mascara. I've been through all the mascaras you can think ... even expensive ones from Sephora ... and so far NONE beat loreal shocking volume. This mascara makes my lashes longer and thicker in no time flat. My eyes look really dramatic and really enhanced. I even use it without the base and my lashes still look long and thick. A GREAT volumiser. Although it is quite difficult to get off, I recommend it to everyone. It is amazing. (read more)

A good product, I have already bought this mascara twice and I would buy it again. It's reasonably priced. Clinique High Impact is another favourite of mine as is ruby and Millie mascara but they are more expensive. I would like to try the Yves St. laurent mascaras but they are too expensive, but having said that I don't mind the money if something does what it says it will do so I probably will buy one soon. I love L'Oreal Volume Shocking mascara. I tried this after using their double extension mascara and have never looked back, the application takes a little more time than a regular mascara but it really opens up the eye and makes lashes look lush so I personally think it's worth the effort. Lasts a good eight hours, not the most natural look however once you get the application right it doesn't look overly fake either. It isn't too expensive and seems to go a long way. Would fully recommend. (read more)

I got recommended the mascara at a local drug store. I was looking for the Audrey Hepburn look. However I found the mascara was hard to use and hard to get off.
I have lost a few lashes due to needing to tease the mascara off my eye lashes!

I got the L'Oreal Volume Shocking Waterproof mascara, as I wanted a mascara that gave me full looking, false looking, big eyelashes and was waterproof at the same time, so that I can use it whilst swimming or preventing smeared mascara while on a night out. I love this mascara!! It really makes your eyes look so much bigger, and all my friends noticed after I bought it. It's different than other mascaras which is why some may find it difficult to apply. I find that it's very easy to apply, but there is the occasional clump. If your looking for a natural look, however, don't go for this mascara. I love it and will never switch brands! (read more)

When using the L'Oreal Volume Shocking when the second coat is applied, disaster strikes! The lashes are clumped together in a most horrendous fashion. It looks as though you have ten really thick and long and deformed lashes growing out of your eye. Mascara should enhance the beauty of your eyes this product doesnt do this. Having spent ten years working in skincare and cosmetics, I am very careful about the products I use. I purchased this L'Oreal Volume Shocking Mascara with high expectations based on recommendations from those I respected, and I am very disappointed. The base coat goes on beautifully, thanks to a lush comb that gets every lash without clumping. The top coat, however, is another story entirely, it's a disaster! I purchased this product before reading the reviews at the Review Centre (tut tut!) but this time I am glad I did! Some of the reviews are that this mascara is not at all good! I have to say, in my case, I cannot agree!
I wanted a mascara that did not run when swimming so I bought one from eBay at a bargain price (new and sealed of course!) after receiving a L'Oreal leaflet through the post advertising that this mascara stays put. Let's give it a go!!

Actually, there's a waterproof one and a regular one,I was just looking through Ulta's website,and the waterproof one is blue and black,while the non-waterproof one is gold and black.

I have been using L'Oreal Volume Shocking underneath another mascara. The top coat however, is a disaster. Despite trying several times to get the application of this right, I still end up with all my lashes stuck together and heavy. A complete waste of money. I don't really understand why everyone is complaining about clumpy lashes! I haven't had a problem with L'Oreal Volume Shocking mascara at all. For the first step I start at the very roots of my lashes and 'jiggle' the wand a tiny bit from side to side to make sure that my lashes are separated and fully coated. After a couple of seconds of drying time, I add the second mascara coat, and voila. Longer lashes. It takes a little bit of skill to apply the black coat, but trust me, it's not that... (read more)

I hate L'Oreal Volume Shocking mascara! I'm a make-up artist and I had a heck of a time putting it on. I cannot even imagine a beginner getting as far as step two. By the time I wrestled with my lash comb, it was no better than any regular $5 mascara, and so not worth the $10.36 + tax.

I have very short thin lashes and this product without a doubt improved them 100%. I use gatenau floracil eye make up remover- one of the gods in this department- and I couldn't remove it to the point my eyes became sore and rashy! (I will try the L'Oreal dermo expertise suggested by another reviewer.) I think for special occasions where make up MUST stay in place I will use this again but it's too harsh for every day. I've used L'Oreal Volume Shocking mascara now for a while, and I actually really like it. I luckily have long eyelashes anyway, and with a bit of time and patience it makes my eyes looks great. I recently tried the waterproof version however, and although it stayed on as promised for the duration that I wore it, it is impossible to get off at the end of the day. It took a good while to scrape it off, and I am now minus a few lashes, but I'd still continue to use the non-waterproof version. (read more)

Obviously, this review is of the "waterproof" version of the L'Oreal Volume Shocking mascara. Apparently, the waterproof version is vastly superior to the non-waterproof version, which I tried and then threw away (knowing, despite the premium price I paid, I would never use it again!)
