From the 2 this is a much better Playstation, the graphics have improved significantly, and so has the speed and precision. I love the fact that I can use it as a home network and have everything in the house connected to it, television, computer you name it, and everything is controlled from there, the space it has is more than enough to hold my music and movies, kids use it, wife uses it, and I use it, a great complete tool that functions as a game console as well as a home hub. Ok, I have bought 3 brand new PS3's over this last few years and everyone of them have broken down as the warranty has run out... This time my PS3 is 6 months out of warranty, and Sony PS3 tried to sell me some remanufactured console for £110. If I am forking out a few hundred quid for anything I expect it to last for a few years. That's my 3rd now so I do think Sony are taking the P. I have had a Playstation 3 for about 2 years now. It is a great system to own and have! I play it about 10 hours a week and love every bit of it. I would highly recommend this system over a Xbox 360. I brought a ps3 3 days ago and still have not played it as every time i go to play it has some sort of update , first the console updated which took some time so no joy that day, day 2 put the game in and message on screen to said to play this game it must be installed on hard drive which i thought would be quick how wrong, day 3 im sitting waiting to play as the game has 8 updates before i play what a joke , now i remember why I sold my first ps3 and stock with the 360, much better for... I bought the slim ps3 around a year ago in a package with FIFA12. I'm mightily impressed by all the extras you get with this, such as the blu-ray player (which has changed my life!) and the web video services like iPlayer and 4OD. I heard some people complain about the level of noise the machine makes when it's running, but to be honest I hardly hear it when the TV's sound is on. A reliable system. I like the 320gb harddisk for movies I download. Play TV is a dream (Freeview PVR tuner) battery on the wireless Controller lasts for ages Cheap to run, uses about 120watts Games on any console are very good nowadays (read more)

I brought this console on the 3rd of october with high expectations because the price was thenomenal! i got it and it didnt work so i took it back the same day and got a replacement but the replacement broke every cd i put in it! so i took that one back and got another replacement it all seemed ok until it started smoking and blew up and it never worked again. Great system, not a bargain but great bang for the buck. BUT system lasted 2 days beyond it's warranty before bricking beyond repair after very modest number of hours use. Before it died, graphics and overall usability were great.
Would recommend PS3, but only with an extended warranty. Looking at google, reliability and build quality comes across as being little better than the infamouus XBOX360 (which I also owned for 1 year 3 months before it ate a disc and RROD'd simultaneously- maybe...

An amazing console with its amazing graphics and you can go wireless on the console to go on the internet. This games console might be a pretty penny but is a great looking, playing console. This console is better on the blue ray one as has great graphics. It also has a loads of internal memory so no need to pay for more items. I rate this a 9/10 as can buy and you have everything you need to just plug in and play! (read more)

I would love to say that the PS3 is the bain of my life, simply because I have to watch my husband play Pro Evo on it, whenever he has a spare minute. But to be fair that is Pro Evo's fault, and not the PS3's. I do think that the blu-ray aspect of the console is great, saves us buying a seperate blu-ray player. over all a good machine, handles all the graphics as aspected from Sony. the fan on the unit is not noisy when on and if you buy the wireless hands sets you will find they last for hours and hours on just one charge. If using the ps3 for dvd/blue ray make sure you get yourself a remote control, much better than fiddling around with the joy stick thing. Sony Playstation is an excellant games console best on the market with the added bonus of a bluray player and web capiabilities make it all round good buy with only the hi price as a down fall, check the returns policy of the store you buy from (I bought mine from GAME and had no difficulties getting a replacement when my first one broke after three months, although some shops like ARGOS will only replace with a new one if returned within 30 DAYS after purchase and after that they'll send it... The Sony Playstation 3 is a brilliant console. Great value for a Blu-Ray player (optical cable and 1080p), nevermind the additional gaming service. PSN is free, and includes demos as well as old PS1 classics (e.g. Worms) and new games (Wipeout HD).
A very good range of games. And with the new exclusive GTA came due to come out soon, it sets to be an XBOX360 beater in all areas.

Its the best console ive ever owned, anyone debating wether to get an xbox or ps3, get a ps3. I sold my xbox to get my ps3, and ive never regretted it. The graphics are brilliant, the games are brilliant and the features are great. Psn (playstation network), is free, unlike xbox live. And you can also surf the web on it for free. Got the Sony playstation 80GB model with choice of 2 games, 2 Blu Ray movies, and HDMI cable for £299 from HMV. Looks amazing standing there with it's glossy finish and no noise from the fan at all (unlike my X-Box 360 Elite).
Firstly played The Dark Knight and quality / effects were so stunning I had to stop playing it and call some friends round to enjoy it. Secondly played Tiger Woods '09 and again was blown away by the amazing graphics.

Sony Playstation 3, great games, no need to buy add ons (it has built in WI-fi, bluetooth, Bluray player!!!, USB, Web browser and many more). Quite stylish. I paid £425 for mine when it launched. Worth every penny, the only bad thing i can think of is that is costs more than other consoles but it is definitely worth it. A bluray player in shops would cost at least £200 on it's own and the ps3 has one built in with tons of other features for only £300. (read more)

Overall, the console is great and like i said the graphics are great and if it's on HD you would really go mad. The best game i like on ps3 in 50 Cent: Blood On The Sand, you have to buy it, it so coooooooooooool. This console is what future consoles should be like, an all in one entertainment system with more capabilities than the other 2 major consoles. If the 360 had all these features I may have bought it before the PS3, IMO the next generation of consoles should have new breakthrough technology to set them more apart from PC game machines. This games console is a great console as the console is really quiet and can use the internet free if have a wireless router.
You can also parental block if need to and the games consoles controllers are wireless and no wires needed accept for a charger.
The bad points are
The games console can overheat occasionally and console goes off. and can only play Blue Ray type discs on the newest Playstation 3 type. Also the controllers need charging alot!

I have owned my 60gb PS3 since the day of release and love it. I'm on it most day either gaming, watching movies or downloading PSP games & demos. The PS3 is so user freindly and has so much more to offer than any other. The 60gb will play most PS2 and PS1 games but unfortunatly the later 40gb and 80gb won't (they say a update should sort this out at xmas).
I can't understand why anyone would say that a 360 is better, the PS3's graphics are much better, there game catalog is getting bigger...

I totally agree. I have the 80gb but unfortunately there is no backwards compatabilty. I used to own an xbox 360 elite. It broke after 7 months. The xbox 360 is very unreliable and I have not had a problem with my ps3. I prefer it and im glad that I sold my xbox elite for a ps3.

I am on my PS3 all day, I love the games it has and I love the 1080p HD ready. I like the way it has blue ray DVDs. I have connected to my PS3 to my laptop wirelessly so I can listen to my music on my PS3 off my laptop. Online gaming is free and you can put different operating software on it such as (Linux yellow dog). You can connect keyboards and mouse to it via USB. Had some spare cash last year so got a PS3. Already had a 360 so it was just a luxury really, not bought to replace the Xbox. It's ok I suppose, only use it to play the odd PS3 specific game and watch movies. If a game is out on both formats I'll always get it for 360. PS3 is rubbish online. You can't talk to anyone so what's the point? For something that came out a year after the 360, the online capabilities are a joke. I disagree with this review because... His Comparing it with other consoles. XBL GOLD cost 99,99 a year, but PS3 is free. PS3 has integrated wireless connection, 360 dont. 99,99 extra

I bought the 40GB version and as soon it was out of the box I noticed how good it looked in its glossy black cover, it took seconds to connect and has a few connections such as scart and HDMI, it only took a couple of minutes to use the on screen menu and set up the console, after charging the controller (it charges while connected) I tried the the dvd player which was easy to use and had a comprehensive on screen menu using the controller and then put a game in the machine, the graphics are... I have had a lot of games consoles in the past, been 30 I was one of the generation that was bought up with games consoles. I have previously owned the Sony PS1 and Sony PS2 so the PS3 was the obvious choice and I haven't regretted it for 1 minute, the features are excellent such as the Blue-Ray player which allows you to hatch blue-ray DVD's in excellent High Definition quality and the graphics are second to none when the console is connected to the TV using the HDMI leads. Though this console costs far more than any games console ever should it makes up for it's price in sheer quality. The console itself looks stylish and the wireless controllers are a big plus. The graphics are the biggest plus with this console, you just don't get quality like that anywhere else other than on the best desktop gaming rigs. If you have a lot of excess cash to blow this is one thing you wont regret blowing it on. (read more)

Agreed, the PS3 is close to perfect, What I found to be a real good companion for the PS3 is the NAS (QNAP TS 109 II Pro) with twonkymedia, I stream all my media content from this source to the PS3, No need for burning dvd's or use of usb memory pins. (No, I'm not from Qnap :)). I admire Sony for always being a step ahead when it comes to hardware.
