I have used Max Spyware Detector for a year and I find that it found and eliminated all the problems I had on my laptop after being infected by a friends email from Facebook. I use it and have found it has the best malware protection ever. No interruptions, no slowdowns and no worries about protection.

Max Secure Spyware Detector 2005 doesn't work and the only way I was able to get my money back from the company was to threaten them with legal action and I told them I would report them to CNET, the website I downloaded the program from.

    Max Sec' Spyware Detector 2009.
    Enviroment used in:
I use the program on 2 internet connected machines.Implement when
needed on various lap tops given to me by "collegues" who have familys that
have no idea of the words "Anti-virus" or "Firewall" when using the internet.

    The Bad:
Can throw up the odd D/Negitives(false Hits, less so with the newer 2009 versions,BUT it can still happen)
Update engine on new version sometimes sticks, you have to hit cancel and
then hit the update again. Not the end ...

Max Secure has glowing 5 star reviews on some sites, but they are all anonymous really.
Some more authorative IT comments are fairly negative, so I tend to believe the latter, as I am personally unimpressed. What is more important is that the Dell machine that I installed it on is very sluggish and I have not detected any improvement in performance since using Spyware Detector. I am most worried about the 44 Malware items that Spybot attributes to the Spyware Detector program.

Was the only anti-spyware that was able to remove fake anti-spyware from my computer. The first time I got spyware, no other anti-spyware was able to remove it but spyware detector removed it first time. When I got fake SWS anti-spyware on my computer, after a bit of dialogue with them and a few database updates it was able to remove it when other anti-spyware programs weren't able to.
Fantastic product and when a problem occurs you can get advice through on-line chat. After supplying a log ...

It allows to scan for spyware, but not to clean in the free version. But it is OK as you have a 30 day no questions asked money back guarantee. Very fast product and very comprehensive. Great stuff and well recommend Max Secure Spyware Detector 2005.

Overall this software works well, ONCE you get it working. However, you must always keep an eye on it as you can not effectively turn off auto-featured update support. Using this product does not inspire confidence.

I un installed their program the same day, and asked that they honor their so-called "30 Day no-questions-asked money back guarantee." That was six months ago, and I'm still fighting for my refund.

I find overall that this software is pretty good. The only thing I have against it is that trojans still have a way of getting on my computer and Spyware Detector does not warn me before hand. I only know as I do a scan every night.

This promises much but when the problems start produces nothing. After the programme ceased to operate I contacted them and they suggested that we use 'logmein' to allow them to look at my PC. We will definitely be able to help you is their slogan. I was very wary of this approach, as you don't really know who these people are, and are they trustworthy. With much trepidation and consultation with the other people who use my PC we agreed to this. I then logged in to the site and for 2 days heard ...

This product is rubbish, after much deliberation with other users of my PC, we decided to let them have a go at fixing the problem by using 'log me in' . They said that I had given them the wrong details for logging in. Have never heard from them again. Going to try to get the balance of my subscription back, but don't hold out much hope! Don't touch this company with a barge pole.

The reality is different. This program caused a pop-up to appear on about half the websites visited. The pop-up had to be clicked away (sometimes several times), whereupon a message appeared saying that I was not authorised to view the site. This message took up a screenful of space, meaning that I had then to scroll down to see the site's contents (which were actually visible).

The techie people from Spyware Detector took over my PC via LetMeIn for over a day (during which time I lost work), ...

Installation was a snap. ( I never have anything running when installing software or hardware, unless specified)
I have found there is no product available which is perfect so, in addition, I use the free Ad Aware SE Personal, to round out my general spyware defenses.
There is CWShredder and HighjackThis for the really serious stuff

Still waiting for a refund so I contacted my credit card company. In this case they were very helpful and said my account would be credited.

I asked their advice for the future and they said to ask Internet Companies what their RETURN POLICY STATES. This is excellent advice and suggest you, and I, remember .

Don't touch this thing with a twenty-foot barge pole, its not worth the money OR the 30-day money back guarantee. In fact, trying to get your money back is hard enough as well. Now, after using this 'life-saving product', I can't hit any of my shortcuts :@ Its only merit is it is fast and nice looking, but at £30 its not worth a second glance. Go with Steganos, thats where I'm going when I get my money back, I'll save myself not only a tenner, I'll a decent Anti-Spyware product too!

Simple to set up and use and because I had never used this type of program before (I stupidly thought that Norton Internet Security would protect me D'OH!) It took a while to go through all the customizable bits and bobs.
I know sod all about computers so when I was configuring it I simply let the program choose the default settings which worked fantastically upon the first running which found 165 problems!!!!!!! But, left behind 6 problems which Spyware Doctor took care of. It should be noted ...
