I've never been a huge fan of Martial Arts movies and only caught this one on a bored Wednesday evening, and glad I am that I did.

Visually stunning, Kung Fu Hustle blends the wire acrobatics and fight scenes of the 'Crouching Tiger..', 'Hero'genre with the CGI of the Hollywood's 'Matrix' style movies (take a listen to the background music to the bigger fight scenes and look about for the black clad gangsters flying through air) The story may be predictable but when the focus is on huge fight scenes and gag after gag, trying to follow a tightly knitted plot isn't high on the agenda.

Can't recommend this film highly enough.

Kung Fu Hustle has an art-house feel because of the subtitles (original language chineseish). Set in pre-revolutionary China it has one of the the standard Kung Fu plot types - small guys forced to battle big guys.

It carries this off very well - the scenes and shooting enhance the quality art-house feel. The comedy is very good - some excellent slapstick scenes, though the second half of the films concentrates on increasingly cosmic Kung-Fu as every opne and their dog is revealed to be hiding from their kicking and chopping past. Watch the film and you'll understand.

All-in-all a very decent film.
