Beware of the Orachard Bank Secured Credit card. I put $200 into this card a few years ago. Now that my card has gone unsecured *I* did not forget I had put money into it, but apparently they did. Several months of calls to customer care later and I *FINALLY* have contacted the bank where my savings account money was sent, intercommunity mountain bank.

I had to call over and over again; with different answers. once i was even told that I was not allowed to get the money back!!!!!!!! once i was given a non working number for intercommunity mountain bank. once i was told it would be put on my card (the savings balance applied) and once I was told that a check would be arriving in the mail which it never did.

is it appropriate that a credit card cause so much hassle to get your money back?

it should be done by them - easily. the check should simply be sent, the balance should simply be applied, and I should recieve notification. at the next best (minimum) they should have told me what the steps were to take, and my experience was horrible. hopefully I get the check - i now have written a letter to intercommunity bank, we shall see. if you cant find your money, (as I couldnt) this is where it is:

Do NOT get an HSBC/Orchard Bank credit card. They have tacked on a monthly fee for "Secure Account Plus" (which I never approved) and I can't get them to take it off! I've called numerous times (to some cave in a foreign land) and written letters, but nothing is done. I've tried to close my account ... nothing. It's a sin that these companies can get away with such scams and the consumer is powerless. Run away ... run far far away from these people. They are thieves!!! And I've been reading nume ...

I called Orchard Bank to cancel my card last month and was forwarded to customer service rep. I explained to the rep that I could get a credit card with a lower APR, no annual fee and some sort of rewards program; Orchard Bank cards do not provide any of these benefits. The rep said he would try to lower my APR and remove the annual fee and then I never heard back from him. What a joke!

I am a student with new credit and was forced to begin my credit through HSBC's Orchard Bank but I am really upset and concerned with the quality of internet security HSBC Orchard Bank Premium card provides. I recently had an unknown person try to pay my card through the internet with a card number completely foreign to me. When this payment bounced Orchard Bank had also charged a payment returned fee as well. When I first spoke to an agent in India which was very uncooperative and sarcastic she ...

From the start you end up paying fees just to open an account with Orchard Bank (HSBC) Credit Card. Then, instead of giving you a credit increase, they just issue you another card, with over half of the balance used up in fees. They have an annual fee, and overlimit and late fees even if you start making payments again, it is like walking up a muddy hill. This card is almost as bad as a pay day loan and what is worse it is on your credit report.

Outrageous rate increase with Orchard Bank (HSBC) Credit Card for no apparent reason. Never a lower rate available to offer. Will not waive annual fee. I made a payment too early and they will not credit the following month. But they are more than happy to give you more credit at 29%.

I have an annual fee of $59 and the last 2 years they reserved that fee for me. This year I again called and asked Orchard Bank to waive the fee and this year they said then can reserve only half. After talking to 1 sales rep and 2 managers the best they could do was reserving the fee by half. I have a Capital One with 0% APR for the first year that I will now be transferring my Orchard Bank balance to and THEY DO NOT HAVE AN ANNUAL FEE!!! I make 2 payments a month to Orchard and the best t ...

Orchard Bank (HSBC) Credit Card charge fees for everything under the sun. Minimum payments, for example that as the credit limit is approached the interest bumps the account into an over-extended condition with huge penalties attached. Every pay cycle after that happens comes with a higher interest rate and more penalties. You must phone them to know what could be done about any of these surprises.

Received card when credit score was low. With payments made on time, credit increased from $300 to $1,300 dollars. Want to increase credit, however, do not know the criteria used to increase the credit limit.
Called to have interest rate decreased, and was given the run around. I will try one more time and if not successful will try to open another account with another credit card company.

I had my husband apply for the Orchard Bank HSBC credit card, since it does not hurt your score to see which card you get "pre approved" for, prior to finalizing the application. He was "pre-approved" for a Gold Card. He paid the $19.00 application fee, which is not offered to all applicants. Within 2 weeks from his application, he received his Orchard Bank card with a CL of $300.00 and an annual fee of $79.00. Note, to many of you complaining, this is not a one time fee, it is a fee you must pa ...

I have had my Orchard Bank Secured Credit Card for almost 2 years.
No problems- I made my payments on time, and was graduated to a non-secured card after a year and a half. This is less than 2 years after a bankruptcy.
They also sent me a Platinum Card with Cash Back after a year and a half.
I had never ever had a credit card prior to my bankruptcy (it was for medical bills), so I don't have a lot of Credit Card Experience- but they have been good to me.
Pay your bill on time every month, and th ...

I have had my card for exactly 3 years. I have made my payments on time every month. I have never went over my limit. The website works great. They were even great when I had to dispute a transaction with a merchant, and immediately gave my money back. I can't really say I have had any problems like other people have on this forum, but then again, I always paid on time and never, ever went over the limit.
My initial credit limit was 300; then it jumped to 500; now it is a 1000 (unsecured). Durin ...

My wife and I had terrible credit and habits. When we decided to CHANGE OUR WAYS, we got two cards each from Orchard. This was 14 months ago. Initially a $300 limit. Never ever late or over the limit. They raised our limits to $500 without asking for it, no fees. Our rate is still 9.9% annually, with a $59 annual fee.
From the reviews I have read, I gather that a lot of people haven't CHANGED THEIR WAYS. I love these cards, I'm back in the game!

There were fraudulent charges on my HSBC credit card account. HSBC removed the charges, but left me with late fees and finance charges. Despite HSBC saying they would remove the fees, they never did. Now, 6 months later, after dozens of frustrating phone calls to incompetent reps and several unanswered letters, I'm left with a $200 bill (all late fees and finance charges) and a messed up credit report.

I had the card for three years, always paid on time and never went over the limit. My credit rating was generally improving, so I wanted more credit. After I hadn't used the card for over a year, it was declined while I was on vacation. I had to call them from overseas to find out the card was considered, "inactive" and that is why my card was declined. I asked for a credit increase and never heard about it again.A month later they charged me the annual fee without a credit increase. I called ...

Orchard Bank assess a 30 dollar charge if you go over a dollar on your credit limit rather than declining the initial transaction like most credit cards. They will not budge on removing this charge even if you feel it is unfair or unreasonable. I've had this charge maybe once and I've have a low credit limit and have been a very punctual, lucrative, and paying customer. I do not recommend this company ever.

I've only had them for a short time. First off, they do provide an opportunity for someone with poor credit to get a card and rebuild. But think hard. Poor credit always pays the most and Orchard Bank's rate/fee schedule takes full advantage. To put it in some perspective, that $59 annual fee represents 11.8% to 19.6% of the typical $300~$500 credit line right off the bat, even if you never charge a dime. Add usage rates and and in total they're making a cushy 26.7% to 49.7% annually, depen ...

I had the Orchard Bank card for a few years and was relatively happy. Earlier this year, I had one over the limit fee. When I realized the card was over the limit I made a payment right away. I in turn paid the card off a month later, only to have my rate increased to 27%. I used the card for a few months always making the payments on time and kept the card under it's limit. I paid the card off about 1 month ago and since it has been 6 months since the over the limit fee, I called and asked ...

Most of these people that complain about this company failed to remember they couldn't get a credit card had not been for OB taking a chance with them. Web site now in 11/2007 works as good as any credit card site as far as I can see. I started with a $300.00 limit and after 6 months requested an increase and for $10.00 they gave me $100.00 which increase my line to $400.00. Well worth my $10.00 investment Appears you guys need to watch your spending and leave a buffer for finance charges so y ...

I applied for their Mastercard and Visa cards, with $300 limits, as an emergency fund in case I really needed them. The $30 application fee for each wasn't too awful-bad. I never used them in the year I had them, and 3 months ago I received bills for $60 on each card for renewal fees. I immediately cancelled both cards, citing that $60 was an outrageous amount for a $300 limit credit card. The following month I got another bill for the renewal fees. I cut the cards up into little pieces and ...
