Good Points: Adam & Company plc is one of the smallest private banks in the U.K. It is Scottish and part of RBS. I bank with their London branch and the service is excellent plus the fact that it is very good value for money considering how some other private bankS can rip you off (i.e. Coutts and Duncan Lawrie).
Bad Points: No internet banking, but I have not really found this to be a problem. I just use e-mail and I normally get a response within minutes. After a long day of work, I really don't want to go the internet to check my account. If I want to say make a euro transfer to a bank in Europe, I just e-mail them - if I have not provided all the details like SWIFT or IBAN codes, they look it up. With internet banking, I would have to fill in all the details myself (like I want to be a data entry monkey in my free time?)
General comments: Adam & Company plc Chequing offer a very personal service, very small, no call centres, no computer voices. They know my voice when I call and know who I am. Nothing is ever a problem. If I want duplicate statements or a bankers reference it is in my mailbox the very next morning. There are no forms or anything to fill in, they do everything for you. The switch card and Gold Visa debit/charge card are provided free of charge (compare to banks like Coutts who charge a couple hundred pounds for that or Duncan Lawrie who charges you around 1.5% for all cash withdrawals!)
