It has plastic parts in the suction head that leaks air and doesn't seal so that suction from the carpet is at maximum strength, it also comes loose very easily and the hose holder and those that hold the attachments that break very easily. I cannot figure out how to use the floor attachment. It seems that it was not well designed for cleaning floors and install attachments. I do use it and as long as I take extreme care to see that it is very gently cared for it seems to work. Perhaps the ones made in the last year are better designed. Mine is about 1 1/2 years old.

I have been fortunate enough to have mine last for a couple of years, during which time it has been fantastic. I know two other people who have also got one of these machines. My friend's machine ceased to function (wont pump water/solution)after just a couple of uses. My parent's machine lasted a bit longer before same happened. Mine has now gone the same way. I hope a replacement pump will do the trick, but from what I read, if it does it will not be for long! I wish I could have read some o ...

Often had trouble with the cleaning solution not being dispensed. Found the problem was that long lenght of plastic tube in the solution bottle. Remedy..cut the bloody thing off leaving 1/2 inch showing. Works a treat now. Eating fluid like ther's no tomorrow. Don't worry about that as the carpets are now clean

I found the Bissell Powerwash Proheat / 1698 Carpet Shampooer to be absolute rubbish - I use the machine once and have to send it in to be repaired for each second usage. Also, it is very heavy. It does clean well but this is not good enough if you have to return it for repair every other time of use. It is always the same problems as well, not sucking up water and not dispensing cleaning solution. Bissell customer care is good - beware of extended warranties from the shops as they are often ...

I have had a Bissell Powerwash Proheat/1698 for 3 years in the first 12 month the repair firm got a replacement because they had to come out to my old one 3 times and still it would not work for more than a couple of times. The second one is just as bad it gets air locked all of the time so now I have to hire a carpet cleaner. The Bissell was not only a waste of my time but a waste of money

I purchased a Bissell Pro Heat 2X carpet cleaner and have had nothing but trouble with it. I only had carpet on my stairs and one bedroom. I didn't even finish cleaning the bedroom carpet when the water stopped coming out. I took out an extra warranty for it with Domestic & General who then got a contract company called service 2000 to repair it, they were based in Walsall West midlands. I had the cleaner back, switched it on and it would not clean. Service 2000 had to collect it for repair agai ...

THIS CLEANER WILL CLEAN YOUR CARPETS AND CLEAN THEM WELL but forget about using the auto solution dispenser ans forget about "auto heat." After 4 years I've finally gotten this dog to hunt. Here's what I do: First make sure it's clean inside and out. Disassemble it per the instructions to get those nooks and crannies. If it won't spray hot water first make sure the outlet is free of debris and the filters are clean. Fill the water tank and the cleaning solution solution tanks with HOT wa ...

We have had a Bissell Powerwash Proheat for nearly 4 years, & found it to be great. We are now living in Australia & have brought it out here with us, it certainly has earned it,s keep , the carpets in this house were Yuk! We then got going with teh Bissel, carpets beautiful, lovely,n,Clean. Wives sister has seen the results & has now purchased her own one & is totaly 'rapped'.

The Bissell Powerwash Proheat is a good carpet cleaner when it works. Quite disppointed that each time I need to use it I have to get it repaired. Three times in all..

I have used this Bissell Powerwash Proheat 3 times and after each use, it had to be repaired because the water, soap, or chemicals would not come out of the sprayers on the brush.

WOULD NEVER buy another bissel product.

Had this Bissell Powerwash Proheat three years. The TURBO-Brush attachment is pathetic. The manual brushes are better with a lot of elbow grease but still not great. The upright part of the cleaner is very poor and clogs very easily. Never leave it on carpet while you refill as you will return to find a sharp dirty line where the front of the machine is supposed to to suck in dirty water. The machine is not good enough to clean away that line. Being good with technical things I have repaired man ...

I should have learned, but I bought the handheld model too. Both are TERRIBLE. Neither will extract the water out of the carpet or upholstery material. What a total waste of money.

When it worked it was excellent and cleaned my carpets beautifully, but outer casing and moving parts are brittle plastic and very prone to breakage, inner soft pipework prone to twisting and blockage. Despite quoting part number and description to manufacturer I have been sent parts that did not fit the machine. (I believe they were for different models). Potentially an excellent machine but multiple repair bills make it uneconomical.
