the trainline is great if you want to print your ticket and collect them at train stations, but when you want a refund, its a different mater, iv been lied to. and I can prove it, been put to a lot of trouble, but if I want my money back for reasons I gave them, that's different, so would I give them a higher rating, only if my issues were resolved, but very unhappy at them… Read Full Review

“Significantly overcharged me and zero customer service ”

The Trainline charges both a “service fee” and a credit card fee. These fees really add up over time and there is absolutely no reason to pay them since the trains I frequently use - Virgin and GWR - don’t charge these fees. Plus, Trainline actually does not have any customer service so you get absolutely nothing for your fee. They sold me a ticket for more than £100 more than I needed to pay for the same seat and when I discovered the situation, they still had time to fix it. However… Read Full Review

“Appallingly bad - don't use!”

I booked with Trainline as it was recommended as cheaper option but I certainly won't in future. Two reasons - 1. Before travelling I couldn't retrieve my password as there was a website glitch but the customer service person couldn't understand me as they were foreign. It never got resolved so I still can't access my account. 2. Having travelled one way, I want to change my return journey time for tomorrow. “Terrible if there is an issue”

Fine when they are charging a fee for securing average priced tickets. As soon as you need their help, they couldn't care less. I had tickets to London booked and woke up with severe back pain. Called them before the train departed to request a change of dates. They refused even though I had called before departure. “taken money but not purchased any tickets”

Be very careful if you are using or thinking of using Trainline. I have in the past but last week some money was taken from my bank account by Trainline even though I haven't purchased any tickets since January (which have been paid for). Just booked tickets to Grimsby Town from Doncaster on the trainline app but moments later realised I booked the wrong date! Rang up straight away to see if I could change or refund and they wouldnt allow it, I have been using trainline for months since I started university and they have always been good but I still dont understand why they are unable to change it. “Try another company for your rail travel”

Booked a journey for a Saturday and returning on the Sunday but web site over ruled my dates and gave me a day return ticket instead when I spoke with their so called help line they refused to refund the full cost of the tickets and are charging me £10.00 for refunding what is remaining. Its almost a week before I travel so it would have been a simple task to rebook the return tickets. “Absolute Joke of a Company”

I have used the trainline for many years, being a student who lives in Winchester who likes to go home to Yorkshire 3 or 4 times a year. Obviously this is an expensive journey, but with my 18-25 railcard I can get it for £33 each way which I think is fantastic. I have been using this company for years for business and leisure travel for myself and travel for my 2 children who are at university. I allways add their 16-24 railcards to get them discounts. “Easy to purchase - but be aware of high cancellation fees ”

“Refund Issues”

I took out cancellation cover as I bought a ticket for my mum and seeing as it was only an extra £2 I thought it was worth it. We had to cancel the ticket so requested a refund as at the time I thought buying cancellation cover meant I would get a refund - beware it doesn't. After a week I was sent a 7 page refund document to complete, if my mum had died I had to provide a death certificate to validate the refund, if she was ill I had to explain why and provide a doctors note!.. “Rip OFF!!!!”

I needed to cancel a train ticket and REBOOK so it's not like they were losing business. I made the reservation and needed to cancel literally 12 minutes after booking. Instead of just changing my ticket they said I would incur and £10 fine. Do NOT travel by train it's far cheaper to drive and do park and ride. We brought tickets and were advised there was a strike after we brought the tickets the strike was cancelled ao we rang them and they said they cant upgrade the tickets but can refund for 10 pound and resale them to us but according to the national rail they can but trainline are just interested in making more money by not helping you at all.
