“Phoned the Police”

Written on: 05/06/2011 by pedro gomezz (1 review written)

Six of us went to the Spice Cube 03-06-2011... Brought us our meals which would not have fed a squirrel as the portions were tiny also the nan breads are the size of a poppadom, we all asked to speak to the owner as to the size of the portions. This man was very rude and said if we did not pay he would phone the police, so he phoned the police, (as if they are not busy enough). The police came in said we did not need to pay, but to pay for the drinks we had. Judging by previous reviews... (read more)

I love indian food and have always wanted to try this restaurant out and I finally did. I have to say that the food was delicious and full of great flavours and that the restaurant is beautifully decorated and that the service was very prompt. HOWEVER, I found the customer service to be rude and disinterested and didn't even get the impression the waiter believed in what he was selling me! Also I found that the restaurant really lets itself down in value for money. Portion sizes are... (read more)

After reading online reviews and awards that this restaurant has won, I decided to go there today and ended being very dissapointed, angry and left hungry. The service was absolutely poor, the waiters had no clue and were rude, the food was overpriced and rubbish. NEVER GO HERE!!!!!! (read more)

Really good restaurant, definately the best indian in Newcastle.

I regularly go for the paneer makani and it tastes gorgeous. A great infusion of flavours. Would also recommend the tandoori prawns and the cheese and chilli bread!!

The restaurant is amazing inside and I love the canvas prints of images from around India.

Love it!!! (read more)

This is by far the bes Indian food I have ever tasted, qualiy worth ever penny. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive and the selection of wines is delicious. What makes this place really special is that it is no ordinary curry. Would definately recommend this to everyone! An out of this world experience! (read more)

So different from your average local curry house. The Spice Cube have invested in modern decor creating a vibrant, lively atmosphere. The menu is different varied but the old favorites are there if you look. If you fancy an Indian meal with a difference, this is the place! (read more)

We ordered from the specials menu and the meal came to over £70 for two, the food simply came nowhere near to justifying the cost. The prawn starter was nice but it was all downhill from there I'm afraid, the main meals arrived with 2 naan breads (barely warm), now I don't think I'm being unreasonable to expect a garlic naan to taste of garlic but ours just didn't. The chicken curry had 4 pieces of chicken, (yes I counted them) but when I paid £14 I think I should expect a bit more then... (read more)

I have been to there a couple of times now, and I have always found it very pleasant. The food is invariably tasty and well cooked, and the staff are friendly. It is also a predominantly non-smoking restaurant as well, which is good.

The Spice Cube is not my favourite Indian in Newcastle, as I tend to go for the blow-your-mouth-off type of curry, served by the likes of Latifs', but if I were looking to impress a new girlfriend, then somewhere like this would be ideal! (read more)

The food in the The Spice Cube, Newcastle Upon Tyne is out of this world, so different to the usual curry on the wall establishments scattered around the city. This is the only place that has something different. The food really was brill, so intense flavours!! I would recommend this place definitely. (read more)

“I will get straight to the point. ”

Written on: 19/03/2006 by keenangoal (1 review written)

I will get straight to the point.
I went with 2 friends 2 nights ago and ordered a soup starter with a chicken/ rice main dish.
To start with we went into the restaurant and our table wasn't even ready... my main course which cost £8.50 was barely large enough to cover half the plate and not very filling...
To top the lot, that night I went to bed with a stomach cramp and have had diarrhea for the last 48 hours.
I am not trying to damage the reputation of this business i'm warning other... (read more)
