after my vist to botany bay they named it right , as its a compleat rip off , second hand tat and the food is not fit for human consumption, the coffee in the coffee bar downstairs is over priced and horrable , they had gaffa tape here and there and noticed some of the windows along the staircase was ready to fall out , one push and it would be along side the Motoway. some of the staff was rude and unhelpfull and mainly very young not interested in there jobs , the lighting is cheep and... “enjoyable day out”

Written on: 20/05/2012

I went to Botany Bay years ago and hated it especially with having to pay to get in, said I would never go again. Went yesterday after over 10 years to find a totally different experience. I really enjoyed it. Bought some really nice things, free entry and free parking is a welcome bonus. food was not too bad and you get 10% off specials if you have a discount card which we purchased for £2 and received a free incense set so we got our money back immediately. Tool my 2 year old son with me... (read more)

“Warehouse full of junk and poor food”

Written on: 01/05/2012 by bass_booty (2 reviews written)

We visited Botany Bay on the 29th April 2012 as we'd wanted to go there for ages. Well I wished we'd have read the reviews first! The place is a shambles. The building is lovely but that's about the only positive thing that can be said about it. First off the car park is small and full of very large pot holes. It was raining the day we went and I had to step into a massive puddle to get out of the car. Once inside, I thought it was going to be really good as it looked nice inside, but... (read more)

“Don't visit the restaurant!”

Written on: 04/03/2012

We found Botany Bay an interesting place to browse for a couple of hours. Then we made the mistake of going to the restaurant on the top floor. We ordered a tuna sandwich and some tea. We were served with the tea and then waited 40 minutes for our sandwich to arrive. Other diners who had ordered before us were waiting for ages for their food too. Eventually my husband went to ask where our sandwich was, the waitress went to check then she came to our table and said it had already been... (read more)

“Ignorant Staff.”

Written on: 03/11/2011 by wiganlisa (1 review written)

I entered Botany Bay at 9.30am, and went to the furniture floor to purchase a table which I had seen the day before. The staff at the till where very rude and told me the shop wasn't open till 10am, and that they would not serve me(obviously didn't want my £130 cash). When I went to leave I asked the security guard who was on the door, why let members of the public in when it is still shut? His answer was he hadn't seen me come in!!! An utter shambles and a waste of my time and petrol going... (read more)

Could be a great place to shop, but it isn't. It is generally a load of tat and rubbish. They have the space to make it spectacular. There just isn't a 'wow' in the whole building. I would never go back. (read more)

This review is totally unfounded. There are a vast array of quality items at Botany Bay and there really is something for everyone. Ok, some areas may not have the 'wow' factor and not be to everyone's taste but I would definitely recommend people to visit and see for themselves.

ive been to Botany Bay on a couple of occasions and i am truly impressed.
i am just starting to sell antiques and collectables, and i am in the process of renting a stall. i have had to wait because every stall is taken.
people who leave reviews saying that it is empty, ARE WRONG.
IT DOES NOT COST A PENNT TO GET IN
I will leave another review in a couple of months when i have been trading there (read more)

Going off the reviews of July and May on this forum, I wouldn't have visited today but it seems that they might have made drastic improvements.

* Parking facilities where excellent.
* Probably only 3 stalls empty throughout the building.
* Staff seemed friendly.
* Place was warm and clean.
Overall good experience. (read more)

I really enjoyed my visit to Botany Bay. Yes, it does have some second hand stuff but I got some great bargains from there. I bought an autobiography book for less than half the price I was going to pay.
The top floor (I think its the 4th) is beautifully set out all ready for Christmas.....the perfect place to get into the Christmas spirit.
Go with an open mind like we did...stroll around...have coffee/cake...and enjoy the chance to mooch around without any pressure or hassle.
I suppose... (read more)

I have been reading some of these reviews and I have to say they clearly dont know what they are talking about.

The staff are friendly the car park is just like any other car park. If botany bay was as bad as these reviews would lead you to believe then how come botany bay is still open? wouldnt it have closed down along time ago?

Ive been afew times and enjoy looking around.
The stuff they sell are good. I didnt see any vacant stalls either.
nothing wrong with botany bay but dont take... (read more)

Yesterday we visited Botany Bay from 70 miles away having noted they no longer charge you to go shopping there, but we almost didn't go having read the negative reviews. What we found was a very different place from that portayed by these reviewers.
1. The car park is no better or worse than most public car parks
2. The inside is a very pleasant clean place to shop
3. We were unable to find the empty stalls
4. The well stocked stalls were not filled with "tat", but with good interesting... (read more)

This place is just full of tatt. Truly awful. Can't believe they have the nerve to charge £3.99 to get in - at least we got in on a free voucher. Never again ! I would give it no stars but this site demands a minimum of 1 star. (read more)

“A Ghost Night at Botany Bay with Jason Karl ”

A Ghost Night at Botany Bay with Jason Karl

On the 22nd May 2010 my wife and myself went to one of Botany Bays ghost nights, what a load of rubbish and a rip off it was not worth the money of £49 each

We arrived at 19.05 and not knowing what to do asked a member of staff and he gave us two forms to fill in, there is no welcome or drink as stated, the staff they employ not very helpful and they found it difficult to talk, We was told to be there by 19.15, we hung around in the foyer until... If you are looking for a truly depressing day, looking at second hand (Goods) ( ha!) please feel free to pay the admission charge, firstly the car park is dangerous, far to many holes, could damage your car, secondly you enter with great hopes after paying to enter you expect to be enthused, delighted even entertained - Forget it - the staff are miserable beyond words I enquire if the Mill is closing down as a lot of the stalls are empty - "we don't know, just always empty these days" the... “I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Botany Bay recently....”

Written on: 22/09/2009

I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Botany Bay recently. After reading some of the reviews I didnt know what to expect so decided to go with an 'open mind'. We spent a couple of hours browsing and bought a few things for our Christmas drawer (presents that we see on the spur of the moment and then put away for later). I bought three lovely scarves/pashminas on the ground floor that were half the price of high street stores and beautiful lamp on the second floor. Great value and no hassle.... (read more)

A bizzare concept of paying to go shopping. I suppose we are used to paying for car parks but it like a delipidated farm road and could do some serious damage to your car so to have been asked to pay would have been ridiculous. (read more)

This was a great day out with all the family, which provided that something for everyone. We managed to get some great items that would have taken us more time to find in the town centre.

We found Botany Bay a very dissappointing shopping experience. Our expectations were set high by having to pay to get it the building. It cost about £8 for our family of 4 to enter and obtain an annual pass.

First we went to the "Coffee Bar" and spoke to the assistant.

"Hello, Please can I have two caffe lattes?"
"We don't do those."
"OK, can I have ordinary filter coffee then"
"We dont do that either"
"What do you have"
"We do have instant coffee"
"OK, can I have two tees. My son would... (read more)

Having read this review, I nearly cancelled my visit, But I must report I did not, and spent a very enjoyable 3 hours ambling around.
I had a very good lunch in the restaraunt, and tea in the cafe, where I must add they did a variety of coffees.
There was a good variety of goods for sale, interesting and beautiful items. So much so I will be visiting again nearer Xmas as I am certain I will find something for everyone under the one roof
