We would go more often if it wasn't a long trip from Midland, Texas. Whenever we visit England we go to Dunster and eat at Hathaways as often as we can. Its a great restaurant and very good food.

Ate at Hatherway's whilst on a long weekend. Firday night and even before we had finished our starter we had decided to re-visit the following night.

Great, we chose Hathaways of Dunster for the fish choice and were not disappointed. Being a chef its difficult to eat out without finding fault, this was not the case at Hathaways. The food was cooked fresh and well presented. The hospitality of the owners was great, when deciding on a starter an item not on the menu was mentioned by them which was then made and cooked for us. Wish the restaurant was nearer to our home in Newbury Berks. The food, service and price is excellent and we have already recommended Hathaways to friends.

The service at Hathaways of Dunster was friendly but the food was awful.

The food was good at Hathaways of Dunster, but for 3 drinks - 2 lagers and 1 orange juice- we were charged £9.00!

The "seafood" in this restaurant was badly cooked and tasted uninterresting. The description was inaccurate as to what we were served. We complained about the food but the waitress we complained to didn't seem to care and didn't do anything about it. We were entertaining important clients and the whole evening was a complete failure due to our experiences at this restaurant. I would never go there again even to see if they were having an off night previously.
My advice. Avoid.

The service was wondeful and charming. The atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. Overall I would say that this was one of the best dinning experiences I've ever had. We went twice during our 3 day break and only wish that the restaurant was closer to our home. Highly recommended.

To be honest this was one of the most enjoyable restaurants we have ever visited.
The hospitality was fantastic, the food top notch all cooked fresh. The menu was first class and the atmosphere just great.
Overall it was a wonderful dinning experience and worth the price which was quite resonable considering the quality of food and service.
The only dissappointing factor is that the restaurant is too far away from our home to enable us to visit regularly.
Anyway we dined here 2 nights out of our short break away. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys quality food, cooked to perfection and served with such great hospitality.

Great! Wish they would move to Gloucestershire. Excellent food, service and price. Great that it was not the normal childrens chips with everything food. My 7 and 11 year olds ate mussels and prawns. Seafood was all brilliant. Italian owner was very welcoming and relaxed with the children. Plenty of food and presented well. Nice touch that we had their own homemade bread.

A fresh to authentic seafood cuisine with a Italian touch.
We'l come in back.

Almost empty the night I dined and I now understand why. For just a two course meal with two drinks and two liqueur coffees a bill of over 60 was not justified. Then to be asked to pay cash if possible as they would have to pay a levy on credit cards was the final straw. An experience never to be repeated.

Never going back! Totally overpriced, food not cooked from fresh, rude service.

Hathaways of Dunster is the best fish place in the area! They really know what they do! Fantastic wine selection! Beautiful meal in a wonderful atmosphere!

Then menu we were given when we arrived at Hathaways of Dunster bore no relation to the menu on the wall outside, which we found very disappointing. The service was incredibly slow (there seemed to be one man serving the whole restaurant, which wasn't even that busy), and the food was ridiculously over priced - a one course meal for two (one lasagne and one fish dish) with 2 bottles of beer and some freshly made bread cost £45, and we were in the restaurant for over an hour and a half! I would NOT recommend this hotel unless you like to be kept waiting and pay way over the odds.

Do not get sucked into thinking that this is a quality restaurant because they have a picture of their staff with Gordon ramsey in the window - I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Hathaways of Dunster was recommended by local hotelier, excellent food and atmosphere.

I disagree with this review because...we visit the restaurant and we had a fantastic and brilliant experience with a warm service.
