Well there is no accounting for tastes. Some people like this BSA 240 Magnum, .177 caliber pistol; I hated it and was glad to sell it. I bought it second -hand and it wasn't cheap! I have owned many air pistols; this was the worst. The grip was uncomfortable, the gun is overpowered and has a severe spring whip, and almost impossible to shoot consistantly. I am a good shot ( N.R.A. Dsitinguished Expert) and I gave up on this gun. Yea, I know all about spring guns; I own several.
    This gun is poor ...

I bought this gun second hand complete with original box and instructions and although overall i like this gun it does have a few quirks.
The safety catch is on the wrong side and can't be easily released once you are ready to shoot.
The trigger guard has quite sharp edges that cause some discomfort after shooting for a while. The sight adjustment is not notched and this gives the feeling that it can be easily knocked off zero (i know this can be remedied but it still irritates)
    I bought thi ...

I love the BSA 240. I cherished an HW45 for many years but it was just too big and heavy for my hands. The 240 is about half a kg lighter and that makes a considerable difference. The accuracy and consistency is just as good as the top-rated HW45.
The only downside to this single shot is that it becomes a bit of a bore opening the barrel, compressing the spring, loading the pellet, closing the barrel, for EVERY shot compared to the Co2 powered pistols. The 240 puts out about 5fpe and Co2 about ...

The 240 is one of my favorite pistols. The pistol is accurate. I can hit a 1 1/2 inch field target kill zone from 25 yards. Practice is required to shoot the 240 accurately. I've had no mechanical problems. A friend of mine had to return two 240s because the "T" shaped barrel latch broke on each pistol. I wish I had bought a 240 in .22 caliber.

My wife bought me a BSA 240 Magnum in .177 caliber a few years ago, and this pistol is great! I looked and it appears that they are no longer manufactured, and this is sad, because it's an excellent air pistol. The one thing I did not like about it was the way the sights are adjusted. I prefer click adjustments. However, on all my handguns, once I find the most accurate load, I generally put a dab of glue on the sights to ensure that they don't get "accidentally" adjusted out of alignment by ...
