Bad Points: Transmission Problems developed just at the time my Extended Warranty ran out. With 50,000 miles the Transmission went out. Repair bill $1,500.00
and the van is in very good condition, so I don't understand why an integral part should fail at such an early time. I was told the Transmission should be good for 80 to 100,00 miles. The vehicle has never been abused.
General comments: My question relates to performance reviews, in that, I am looking for information that might be out there, perhaps other owners may have similar
problems. I want to find out if there is a reason for me pursue this with the manufacturer. Is there a pattern?
Thank You

After driving 147,000+ trouble free miles I came to really appreciate my 96 Mercury Villager! This vehicle never once stranded me or anyone in my family. Never a rattle, a beep or whir out of place. Just a good, solid, well made vehicle! I was just hit head on by a woman having seizures and the van was totalled... with no injuries on our side... I'm gonna miss that van!- Read ppetree's review (74 words and 1 comment)

Overall, I am very satisfied with my 96 Mercury Villager and look forward to putting another 100,000 miles on it. Hey, do we get any special recognition for going over 200,000 miles?- Read sixpaxtogo's review (71 words)

We replaced our 1994 Ford Aerostar, which we loved! I didn't realize other vans were that much better until I had something different. I didn't notice it road like a truck and handled like a truck until I began driving my "limo"!! We have two rows of captions chairs, the middle row can be removed, yes even by Mom, and the back bench can be moved to four different positions or if the middle row is left in place the bench can be moved up to them. It's soooo easy, just the flip of a handle! Al ...- Read creators kid's review (280 words)

I have a '96 with 63,000 miles on it. Overall relaibility has been great and it has only required routine servicing - just a few niggling problems - the rear wiper motor burned out for the second time, and the battery failed after 2 years.
Dealer service has not been great (or cheap), but there are plenty of good independent shops out there.
The car rides and handles great for a van, acceleration is acceptable. Ok - it's a bit on the small size if you need to haul 7 passengers and lots of ...- Read Martin Booth's review (108 words)
