My review is of a holiday at Lakitira resort with Mark Warner. The review is more generally about how we were treated rather than the resort, which was fine. Fine rather than good. Our outbound flight was 5 hours later than scheduled which was already 2 hours later than when booked, i.e. completely different to what we booked, and missing a complete day. We were not given any food on the flight, and we arrived at 4am. We were not even given a concession of £30 lunch bearing in mind we... (read more)

I went solo to the Sea Garden Resort, Bodrum this June booked through Mark Warner. I had booked last minute and did not realise (and was not told when making the booking with Head Office which I feel it was misrepresented) that it was actually a Turkish Hapimag resort with Mark Warner doing the waterfront and childcare and occupying 90 out of the 300 rooms.....so for the first week we had 50 Russian men staying for a Tyre Conference!! a bit of an unexpected surprise.... I did however have... (read more)

Les Deux Alpes, Hotel Le Berangere - a total waste of money. Sickness rife throughout hotel the whole of our stay, staff advised that it had been there a couple of weeks and they'd all had it. Facilities were very tired and dirty the whole place needs renovated. Our room was dirty and had hairs in both the sink and bath when we arrived, somebody else hair and clip on the floor. It looked like they just made the bed and nothing else, saying that even the bed was full of holes. Generally... (read more)

We booked Bowls break at Gunton hall for the 10thSeptember after enjoying a similer holiday last year. But due to my husbands bad health I had to cancell we thought our cacellation plan would give a full refund, but from a deposit of £140 we have only been offered £80. With over two months notice before our holiday I expected a full refund,we will not be booking any more holidays with this company. (read more)

I am moved to write and tell you about Mark Warner holiday company and our dreadful experience. After many good holidays with this company we went to Val d' Isere for New Year.
The room curtains were torn and could not be drawn,
-the dining room was filthy, chipped and dirty china, cutlery, cloths,
-the corridors were full of dirty china and glasses,
-the advertised pool was shut, no heating and had not been cleaned,
-the attitude of the staff was largely indifferent.
We left a day early,...

Sep 09 Just returned from MARK WARNER @ LAKITIRA. Never 'done' an MW before and pleasantly surprised. Resort very quiet with only 200 out of 700 beds filled. RESULT!! No queues or prebooking of any activities ( apparently the norm @ peak season). Lakitira itself a hot 40 MINS walk from tacky Khadamena ( chav central )as there is no regular bus so it's not easy to get out during the day. Food not bad ( sometimes delicious )but endless samey Buffets in the main restaurant- with only a too... (read more)

Once loyal customers of Mark Warner holidays but never again.
After a holiday from hell in Egypt with them ...food poisoning, no hot water , no heated pool, kids club being renovated whilst kids were there etc. My letters of complaint post holiday have been responded to with rude dismissive letters from MW..very unsatisfactory, no wonder this company is offering so many cheap discounted holidays!!
I agree MW have cut back so much now ie half board not full board, no more inclusive wine or...

1st time with Mark Warner, thought it was excellent value, something for everyone, and the hotel had been recently refurbished whisch meant the rooms were comfortable.
This staff guest ratio was excellent and the cost of drinks was extremely fair compared with previous holidays. We upgraded to the full board package and for us this was the best choice.
The children 12 & 8 enjoyed it and would go back, for us though 1 week was adequate.

Having been on over thirty mark warner holidays ( beach and snow ) over the last twenty years, I know what to expect. Unfortunately, their standards have dropped so far that it is no longer the fantastic holiday it once was. The cost cutting has gone way too far. Food is poor, rooms very much in need of refurbing. They seem to be going down the 18-30 route (read more)

Sadly we should have been sitting here tanned and rested after a week at Dahab Hilton staying with Mark Warner. It came highly recommended. After the collapse of XL we were in constant communication with Mark Warner about our flight times for the holiday starting on 1st Nov. There standard phrase was we cant tell you info if we don't have it. Not the best customer relations!. A week before we were due to go and still no tickets. A phone call to them informed us that the holiday had been... (read more)

My husband and I have just returned from seven nights in San Agostino in Greece (Sept 2008). If you are after a quite holiday then you may want to avoid this resort as it was far too 18-30 club for our liking having been woken by partying youngsters on several occasions. Mark Warner need to decide who they are catering for. If they want to cater for all types then they need to segregate the 18-30s there to party all night from the older adults (and families) there for sport and relaxation.... (read more)

My husband, 3 yr old daughter and myself went to Ocean Club Portugal in April 2008 and were so impressed that we have booked to go back for 2 weeks in October.
The staff were very friendly and informative - not 'in your face' but we knew where they were if we needed anything. Always seemed to have a genuine smile on their face too!
The restaurant manager was a real jolly chap and even better, the food was delicious with an excellent choice of menu - dinner was a la carte in fact and not...

They had no baby listening, and the drop-in creche facility lacked black out curtains, air-conditioning, quiet situation, and catered for a broad age range, which made it difficult for little ones to sleep. We talked to the resort managers, who said they would work on it...
Our latest experience was to discover, after booking, that the baby listening service no longer exists (this wasn't clear when I booked) - you have to use the drop-in creche. Given our experience I spoke to the customer...

We stayed at Kos Lakitira for two weeks with Mark Warner Holidaysin August. Avoid this place, I've booked with Mark Warner before and prior to this holiday planned on doing so every year, never again! The M Warner staff are rude, unskilled and seemingly only there to party. It's just an overpriced 18 to 30 holiday for reps. and forget about complaining, they simply can not be bothered, at most you'll get a bizarre message back informing you of the policy and they'll tell 'jono'? We couldn't decide on what holiday we wanted as both needed different things (beach vs. activity). Last minute booking at Mark Warner (San Agostino) and delighted with results. Large resort allows space alongside loads of activity, great staff and the food was surprisingly good with a the happiest chef I've ever met. Highly recommended it for couples/families with different requirements from a holiday. (read more)

Made 23 friends in San Agostino after booking with Mark Warner Holidays!! We got a new posh coach from the hotel and the staff were really nice, especially the head of my kidz club group. We took our three young kids to San Agostino and in general, it was one of the best holidays we've had. We actually thought it was great value for money, as most of the activities were included, which you'd expect. We got a discount from a travel agent down the road from us called Travel Club Elite. We'd definitely go with Mark Warner again but wouldn't pay the full prices, my advice would be to always look for a discount on your Mark Warner holiday, there's loads about. (read more)

I agree to a certain extent, I thought it was bad that you had to pay for refreshments and beach towels and my sister had to have an extra bed which was very poor as it was just about to fall apart!! It was expensive for what it was, but I had a great week and met loads of really nice people.
Did you go on the 15th of July '07?? If so, I was there at the same time as you!

Went to Lemnos village and had the most miserable boring holiday of our lives. Flights poor, accomodation less than basic, food average and resort miles from anywhere so you are imprisoned in a concentration camp of a place with nowhere to go. If you want to buy ice creams drinks etc, expect to pay a fortune. They forgot to book our (paid for) seats on the return flight and we ended up with hassle at the airport and sitting in the very back of the plane. £3,500 for family of 3 for 1 week?... (read more)

Just returned from a weeks holiday to Lemnos, having been to several Mark Warner resorts in the past. Thought the location was very good, especially as it was easy to visit Lemnos town to enjoy authentic Greek life. Particularly enjoyed being able to go for lovely walks, whilst my husband did all the water sports. Although I did play tennis and attended the aerobic classes. As always, the food was very good, and it is so nice to be able to discuss your day with like minded people. Now trying... (read more)

Ocean Club Portugal is not exclusively Mark Warner, and the facilities are spread out so that children have to be walked 10 - 15 minutes through town to get to the beach, kids club or the Millennium Restaurant. The road to the kids club and Millennium Restaurant does not even have pavements at some points, which is far from ideal, and not what one would expect of Mark Warner. I think Mark Warner generally have a very good reputation. However, my experience with them was one not to be repeated. The 31 hour delay, stopping off in 2 other Spanish resorts isn't really on when you have a 2 year old. However, Mark Warner feel that this is OK. The childcare made it for us, even if the resort wasn't great and the food was poor. Beware if the flight company is Excel, as they are often delayed. (read more)

Mark Warner holidays:
Great holiday with first class childcare. Both the guests and the staff were all really friendly, and we made lots of new friends during the sporting activities, mealtimes and round the pool or beach as well. Would definitely recommend this holiday. Quite expensive, but once you get there you don't necessarily need to spend much more - only on drinks/snacks at the bar and extras like tennis coaching. Shame the hotel wasn't a better standard for the price you pay.

Apologies, my review may have been longer than the space available, so the moderator truncated it, but now it sounds a bit disjointed.
To clarify we talked to a customer services agent about the pool at Lemnos because our son had got sick there. He gave a personal assurance that MW maintained very high stds, and it would be fine on our next visit (to Praia de Luz), but we found that MW didn't control or maintain the pool there.
This year I talked to him re the withdrawal of baby listening service, and replacement with drop-in creches, because the drop-in creche at Praia de Luz hadn't been good for small children. He said he could personally assure me that MW had learnt from that and it would be good enough this year (at Lakitira). He then took quite strong offence when I mentioned that the managment of the pool at Praia de Luz hadn't really been as he had said so I needed more than an assurance, and brought the conversation to an end.

Hope that hasn't confused you further!
