I purchased this as a graded item, so it was propably a catalogue return. Worked OK for 4 years, now it has failed, motor has seized up, like may others. Previous mowers have lasted much longer, not impressed.

I agree with other reports, this model compact 330 is not fit for purpose mine failed after less than 2 years light use. The motor compartment filled with grass, the bearing on the belt drive end of the motor shaft seized solid abruptly, only releasing the supply switch quickly saved the motor from instant damage. All to no avail, even if the shrink fit drive pulley could be removed to expose the bearing it is unlikely that a new bearing could be sourced. We should all claim for compensation under ...

Very poor design, the plastic motor chassis slowly distorts over time with the side load from the belt drive until the motor armature rubs on the field coil, gets very hot and jams.

Very disappointed, lasted 2 years after my previous direct drive Flymo had survived 20+ years.

Get a direct drive mower. These belt driven ones are not bult to last. Had the spares been reasonably priced it would have been a mitigating actor.
the base plate on the power compact tends to buckle and causes the belt to slip of. I managed to make my Flymo Power Compact 330 last a few years (lured by the cheap price) by modifying the base plate which now has given up its ghost.
Shall breakup and sell the parts.

Flymo Power Compact is an awful, heavy, cumbersome mower which has just died on us after less than 20 uses

I've only had this Flymo Power Compact 330 mower for two years and it is breaking up in parts. It is also too heavy so my wife is unable to use it, I will look for another manufacturer next time and will pay a bit more.

In my experience this product is not fit for purpose and the customer service from Flymo was non-existent. A very poor purchase. I would never buy Flymo products again and I recommend others to do the same.

Bought a flymo 330 compact in May 2006 & the motor failed in June 2007. Flymo didn't want to know & offered me £10 as a good will gesture. Silly me bought another one in July 2007, and yes the motor has just blown up on this one. I agree with a previous comment, the motor is unprotected, and the bearings get cogged with dirt. It is not really fit for the purpose. Another thing is that I found I had to constantly turn the mower over and scrape the grass from the underside, I have an 18 yea ...

Mine lasted 16 months and the motor has just burnt out. It doesn't hover as you have to push the mower and clogs up too easily. Won't buy again and probably get a Bosch as it's got 2 years warranty parts and labour.

As with previous comments, the motor on my Flymo Power Compact 330 ingested grass and dust before giving up the ghost big time. Was going to get a replacement motor at £40 until read these reviews. Will throw away and get something different.

I've had 2 Flymos, including a Flymo Power Compact 330 and I have to say I'm not too impressed with them, time for a change I think. The motor burned out after approximately 2 years.

This mower is pratical, easy to use, easy to store and gives a fantastic even cut, with the high price of lawnmovers today, this is great value for money at 65 quid.

The Flymo Power Compact 330 is disappointing due to its inability to get close enough to the ground.

Complete rubbish. The motor caught fire at the start of the second season. After exploring inside to see what the problem was, I found that the motor and bearings are completely unprotected against dust/dirt ingress. My nine year-old daughter could come up with a better design than the Flymo Power Compact 330 lawn mower.

The Flymo Power Compact 330 is the worst lawnmower that I have ever owned. Instead of hovering, as it should, you push it along the ground and the blade goes round. With this leviathan, the same lawns that could be cut in an hour with my previous mower takes two and a half hours. The yellow ball that is supposed to show when the grass box is full, and it also shows when it is empty. I can assume only that either there has not been enough testing, or the designers do not understand the hover ...

Do not purchase unless you like spending your money and time purchasing something that will let you down and you'll be thinking to replace with something better after one season.

I foolishly bought this hover mower as a replacement for wheeled Flymo 330 of similar design, which kept shredding drive belts at £10 a time. he Flymo Power Compact 330 has proved too heavy for my daughter to push, even though it is a small machine.

What has gone wrong in Flymo's design department? Lawn mowing is hardly rocket science.
