    What a disappointment, I had a friend bring me 12 pkgs from the UK. They're nothing like the originals. No where near as chewy and certainly not the same flavours. I thought it was me! My adult palet less discerning than my childhood one. Another favourite that's bitten the dust. In the 70's we used to get them 4 for 1p. Even with the cost of living rising they are certainly not value for money.

    Compared to Lion Sports mixtures, Maynards Sports mixtures are like a Beatles tribute band compared to the Beatles. They've tried hard,and they
    mean well, but it just isn't good enough.

    Too soft,too large and no black ones.

    Maynards Sports mixture are amazing and the future. All the liquorice lovers are weird. Are you 80? Liquorice is the devils confectionary and you will burn in hell for liking it.

    Never having had the original sweets I can't really comment on the change only to say that they are so much better than wine gums which are now too soft. I love the maynards sports mixture and just can't stop eating them when the packet is open. I really like the flavours and can't say anything bad about them.

    maylands sports mixture is too soft, flavours too bland and no liquirice flavour. Not like the old version!

    These Sports Mixture are harder than most other gums, even though they are softer than they used to be when they were made by Lions (which isn't a good thing). All the flavours except the black one are gorgeous, the black one used to be a kind of liquorice flavour which although unusual and as I child I wasn't fond of, became one of my favourites as my taste buds matured.     I've eaten Maynards Sports Mixtures since I was a kid and was reunited with them a couple of years ago. I hated the liquorice ones and so the blackcurrant ones are a nice addition. What annoys me is that they seemed to have changed the calorie content in them. One bag says 5 cals per sweet and the next bag says 15 per sweet - which is right? These bags are both of the 'new' sports.

    When Lions made sports mixtures they did a lovely Black Licquorice one, then Maynards take over, they decide to replace it with a lovely Black Blackcurrant one, I go out and buy a bag of Maynard sports mixtures to try the new blackcurrant ones, & HEY PRESTO!! I get every colour BUT the Black one.     Maynards Sports Mixture taste nothing like the real sport mixture by lion, the texture is not the same, the flavours are not as strong , they just don't taste the same.The blacks where one of the best flavours this has been replaced with a totaly different flavour and all the other flavours have been changed.     Maynards Sports Mixture are the best. I used to buy them when I was a young lad and still enjoy them today. However, they changed the original black. Please don't stop making them.

    I love Maynards Sports Mixture... dont care if they are softer or taste different to the Lions (?) type... I cant get enough of them ... when anyone visits the UK its the first thing I ask them to bring me back!
    I used to be a huge Haribo Starmix fan until I tried the Sports Mixtures. Im in heaven troffing them. if you don't like yours.. feel free to send them to me here in Bermuda!

    Maynards Sports Mixture are nothing like the original lions sports mixtures. Maynards should stick to wine gums and put the original sports mixtures back in the bag including the liquorice (the black one). I for one am disgusted by the blackcurrent replacement. Other pleasure gone but not forgotten.

    Good news if you are a midget gem lover - you can still buy Lions original midget gems! If you google 'Lions Midget Gems' you will find numerous sweet shops that sell them by the box.Rather expensive I must admit though and I was chuffed to see that Makro (I live in Leicester) sell them at a very reasonable £12 for a 3kg box. Long live THE ORIGINAL midget gems!!

    I've got a full box of Lyons Midget gems which I bought as soons as I found out Maynards had taken them over - about a year ago now. I daren't open it knowing that it may be the last time I ever get chance to eat the 'proper' sweets - aggrrrhhh!!

    I think they taste like wine gums now. I can't believe they changed the taste. My grandma used to bring down a box from Aberdeen at Christmas when they were made by Lion. Now they're softer, blander and worst of all the black flavour has changed!

    I am very disappointed with Maynards Sports Mixture, that the Lyon original recipe has changed to this new one.

    Black ones don't taste as good as they used to do... I think they have changed to blackcurrant rather then the original flavour.
    All seem softer and less chewy.

    Some friends of mine have just come to visit me, I live in Fuerteventura Spain, they asked me if there is anything I wanted brought over, my answer, Sports Mixtures, they brought over 3 big boxes of them felt like Christmas until I opened the box and the saw the change in colour, then when I ate them to my amazement it was like eating a wine gum in a sports mixture shape.
