I purchased the YSL false lash effect mascara (waterproof) at the same time as a YSL touché eclat. The touché eclat is amazing but the mascara was a complete waste of money. I paid over £20 for it and have used it three times then given up. It's very messy and very clumpy, just doesn't make my eyelashes look very good at all. It also smudged under my eyes within the first few hours, terrible. The brush always has too much product on it, meaning you have to wipe the excess with a tissue. I... (read more)

I bought it in a well known department store from a busy counter. Extremely dry and clumpy. Lid below my bottom lashes gets mascara stains very quickly, whatever the weather. Doesn't stay on for long. I love the brush and the golden colour, but very messy mascara (read more)

Quite messy to put on, but once cleaned up with a cotton wool bud looks amazing...
...for a while. It makes my lashes feel very weighed down and the volume and curl drops out of them very quickly.
After I've had it on for about anhour, my eyes feel itchy and gritty and the next day the skin around them goes red and sore. I have NEVER been allergic to any other make up product in the past and I always get my make up off before going to bed.
I won't buy it again. There are better mascara's...

This mascara is incredible! I hav very thin wispy lashes, and have been wearing false lashes for a number of years - now i don't need to! It coats every lash and makes them long and thick. Easy to apply, easy to take off! It is expensive but it's worth it! (try feelunique.com for cheap beauty products, i got mine for £15) It looks nice in the gold tube and box,I think the packaging looking good always helps! Also, it smells fantastic! If you want a Mascara that lengthens each lash and results in making your eyes stand out beautifully. This is THE ONE!
I have tried so so sooooooo many different types of Mascaras, but i always come back to this. I love it.
A friend had recommended it to me for ages, i still didnt buy it. Lol I thought it was abit too pricey for a mascara, but my opinion changed when she leant it to me. A little sacrifice by paying a few more pounds, but DAMN does it makes your eylashes look mesmerizing!

Have they changed something about this product? Have used this quite a few times and have been more than happy. However recently purchased this again and was very disappointed, did not seem to have the same effect. Did not seem to go on the same or make my eyelashes as long as when used previously.
Dont think i will bother purchasing this again, there are just as good, if not better products, from cheaper ranges. Will keep trying for my ultimate mascara, thought i had found it in this...

First tried Yves Saint Laurent False Lash Effect after reading another review, does what it says on the box. Takes my lashes from non-existence to long and lush with just two coats. Been asked so many times if I've had extensions to which my reply of no prompts 'wow, you've got lovely lashes'.
Still using this as I've tried so many mascaras and have not had the same result as ysl false effect, but still on the lookout for something that will give me the same result at a cheaper price.

The life of the product seems extremely short. When used every day, I found that the actual make-up became gluggy and thick within 2 weeks of CORRECT use.
If the product lasted longer then I think I would buy it again. I feel it is quite expensive for the short period of time it was usable.

Its easy to apply!
Easy to take off!
It gives them a false lash effect which is what you want!
Amazing so worth it ..does the job.

I wouldn't believe the negative statements - I think this is the best mascara on the market. Easy to get off, amazing results - the only thing I worry about is having my lashes too long! It is expensive - but no more than other top level products (read more)

Yves Saint Laurent False Lash Effect - WOW This mascara does wonders! Can't believe I've finally found my perfect Mascara!
Its taken me so long to find a decent mascara that suits my poor (and pathetic excuse for) eyelashes. It lengthens all of my lashes (including the smaller lashes you wouldn't normally see), clearly defines and seperates and curls to create a full fan of femenine lashes.

I wouldn't try this its a waste of your hard earned money. When I spoke to an advisor on the YSL counter she advised me to clean the brush with a tissue which I did and it didn't change its performance. (read more)

Was very disappointed with this mascara, everyone raves about it so I thought I couldn't go wrong! The brush is really soft and doesn't do much to my lashes unless I sit for ages. It is quite messy as well, it goes on very wet. Can't believe people pay £19 for it. You would be much better off with LOreal Telescopic! (read more)

I have very, very light eyelashes which look almost none existant without mascara. Every time I purchase a new mascara I hope that it will make my lashes long and fluttery and end up bitterly disappointed. The only nice thing about Yves Saint Laurent False Lash Effect mascara is the packaging...nice and gold-ish.
In general, it was a waste of money >>> Maybelline (pink/green box) is so much better, and only $4! I will go back to my favourite mascara by Estee Lauder - Magna Soptic.

Yves Saint Laurent False Lash Effect mascara was really hard to remove, and I used Chanel, Dermalogica and Ella Bache specialised eye make up removal products. Once I tried to take it off, it would still leave a build up for days, and often I felt like it took my lashes with it! (read more)

I have read everyone's comments and this convinced me to try it for myself. WOW!!! everyone was right this stuff is the best out there. I have short and thin lashes and everytime I put this on it makes me look so glamorous it feels like I can do anything! I would definitely tell all my friends to use it. Will buy more when I run out. I've used Yves Saint Laurent False Lash Effect mascara for over a year now, and when I've tried other mascaras, none seem to compare! It is the best one I've found for making your lashes look long, sexy and well defined! Another good one to try is Loreal false lashes; the one that's double ended. It's half the price of YSL! I bought the Yves Saint Laurent False Lash Effect mascara as a treat, as it was quite expensive. It fans out lashes easily. However, if applied over and again it can clog. It dries quite quickly, and it smells good too. (read more)

Yves Saint Laurent False Lash Effect, a very luxury package, apply lightly & look natural, lashes appear stronger longer darker after application, but not cloggy. It dries up quicker than other mascara on lashes & not easy to apply a second layer as it hardens lashes. I have oily skin around eyes & poor mascara leave residues, I have to check & wipe my undereye skin regularly just in case. I bought this from a duty free shop as a treat, and absolutly loved it. It really worked! My lashes looked amazing, and the effect lasted all day.
It didn't smudge, and was easy to remove.
It comes in fantastic packaging, with a lovely thick brush!
It is a bit more expensive than the average mascara, but I definately think it is worth every penny.
My only complaint, is that I found it didn't seem to last very long before it started to dry out, which was disappointing because of the price!!

Yves Saint Laurent False Lash Effect has to be the best mascara I have ever used! Makes lashes fuller, longer, thicker and doesnt smudge! I wore this on my wedding day and it stayed perfect all day even with a few tears. I would highly recommend this mascara as no others can beat it! It lives up to its name and makes your eyelashes longer than you ever imagined!! (read more)
