Overall it's a nice piece of equipment that has served me well for mainly fixing pants. The mechanics does however dry up after idling. (read more)

This machine does NOT do heavy materials. Needle thread often gets caught in bobbin area and I have to disassemble the whole bobbin area. Not fun. Nice and light for moving. The paper illustrations on the pattern selector dial came off and now I am just guessing. For the price ($500) I could have gotten a much easier to use machine. Sorry that this has not been a good experience. (read more)

I have had my machine for over 10 years. Each year I have it professionally cleaned and oiled as I put miles of fabric through mine every year. I do far more than average sewing, using my machine to make items for sale. This little machine has paid for itself over and over again. My husband offered to buy me a newer more expensive fancier machine, but I politely declined. (read more)

I've had my machine since 2000. It was ok with normal sewing, but it doesn't do the heavy duty stuff, like Jeans. Why did they call it a jeans machine? The thread comes off to easy when sewing as well. Would NOT buy again. (read more)

I have a White Jeans Machine. I guess I'm writing this to vent, because I've had the machine too long to return it. This machine is way not made for sewing on jeans. I've been yelling at it ever since I've had it for one reason or another. It comes unthreaded too easy. The thread jumps off the arm that moves up and down way too easy. It won't sew over the slightest little bump without help. Need I go on. One of the features that also attracted me to this machine was that it has a... (read more)

I have had my machine for about 15 years now. I also thought the machine would sew the thickness of Jeans... NOT!! I find myself replacing the needle constantly because it breaks with thick fabrics. If I only would have tried it before I purchased it. You learn the hard way!! Does anyone out there have a manual of operations. I don't think I ever had one. (read more)

Just wish I could sew faster without constantly rethreading. (read more)

I received my machine as a graduation gift - I'm so happy with it I wouldn't dream of trading it in. If you're looking for a good machine that will take care of basic sewing needs and will last a long time, this is a good choice! I love my machine. (read more)

I hem work jeans for my husband as well as guys he works with. The White 1888 Jeans Machine will not sew through all those layers at the seams which was the reason for my purchase of this machine. I blame myself for being unhappy with this machine. I should have tried it before I bought it. I stupidly thought because it was called the Jeans machine, I could hem jeans on it. Because it doesn't do what it's name implies, I just gave it an average, middle of the road rating for all categories. (read more)

I recall when I purchased my machine (many years ago), that I was told it would sew leather and denim with ease, as long as I was using the correct needle. I'm not sure what that needle would be though.

Does anyone have their manual in pdf format? I cannot find my manual anywhere. If anyone can send me a link or a website or e-mail to obtain a copy of the manual for this machine, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

This White 1888 Jeans Machine does a great job for my sewing needs. The solid die cast metal construction is a sign that the machine is built to last. I purchased this one because my other new Brother machine did not perform well and was loud. I was impressed with the accessories that came with the machine and the video was awesome at showing the capabilities and features of the machine. It states that it can sew through 8 layers of denim and although I have only tried to sew 4 layers it did... (read more)
