My television was accidently broken by my 4 year old i rang to claim on tuesday afternoon at 2pm and was told i would be contacted at the latest wednesday morning by the company who deals with repairs. “They fight for every penny”

Beware because if your property hasn't been maintained to a 'good standard', they will use this to disqualify your claim. If they accept your claim, they will only allow the cheapest possible repair, which will never return your property to a 'good standard'. It's unfair and it stinks. They use some 'surveyors' (clowns!) from a outfit called BVS to chip away at your repairs, by claiming this isn't covered, or that isn't covered. “Excuses and delays”

I was broken into in Decemmber its now april and im still waiting settlement. I ahve been passed from pillar to post with the old excuse of ' cheques in the post' and waiting on signature. Customer service is not acceptable. Just being fobbed off all the time with excuses. LAtest excuse is that my jewellery was under insured - they only pay their maximum figure anyway so since every thing was taken it does nt affect them anyway. Its just another tactic for non payment. “Legal and General rip off home insurance”

I paid Legal and General for 5 years for home insurance, i then accidently spilt nail polish remover on my dining room table. They sent someone out to look at the damage. I paid approx £400 for my dining set, but they offered me a replacement table for £179 and as i had to pay £100 excess that meant they were only giving me £79 !! “AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!”

I took insurance out with Bradford and Bingley as they has good customer service reviews I never thought about checking claims reviews out!! It turns out their underwriters are Legal and General. I had a leak from my stopcock which was in the house behind a wall out f sight and was told that because the damage had been caused over a long period of time and the actual cause of the loss is as a result of "Gradually Operated Causes". i had exactly the same problem because i had to wait for the flood to dry out and obv still use my bath etc in meantime they said been going on for a long period of time and escape of water and the surveyor said i had rising damp.. between a partition wall.. what a load of rubbish. i appealed and said i ahd to get my own surveyor in to asess damage and then they would look into it.. in meantime my bathroom floor continues to sink and get worse by the day !!

“Absolute Rubbish”

My claim is ongoing at the moment from Nov 2013!! Getting a bit sick of it now. I lost an item of jewellery on a night out, realised the next day & contacted the police to get a crime number. Sent this along with a valuation certificate to L&G. “Dreadful service”

Our property was hit this week by a terrible mini tornado. Legal and General did not believe us and send a assessor out, he took photos of other houses in street to support our claim. They never sent anyone for emergency repairs and told us to tell neighbours to claim off their insurance if debris fell of our roof onto their cars etc, saying that was what insurance was for. “Legal & General contents claim nightmare (poor service)”

My house was damaged by fire and smoke when the next door house in the terrace caught fire. This was compounded with water damage as the fire service pumped literally tons into my building to prevent the spread of fire. I wish I had read the reviews before taking insurance out with these people. I had some spillages on my carpet and was told by their Independent assessor that it didn't seem cleanable. A week later was told that they would try to restore it first and I was to pay the £100 upfront. When I queried why I was told that if it was cleanable and would cost less than excess then it wouldn't be a claim. conservatory roof broken by a random golf ball from the school field in JUNE 2013 rang the police got a crime number, phoned legal and general, which they advised they would send someone out to assess the damage and i payed my excess (so far so good ) it's now SEPTEMBER 2013 so far I have experienced nothing but utter rubbish and they finally replaced the panel however that's still in debate as its not as promised "like for like" and is infact a different colour - brilliant! “50 minute wait for customer helpline before giving up!”

If I could give them 0 stars, I would! They quoted me 326.68 for house and contents insurance. I returned the form accepting this and setting up a direct debit for monthly payments. With no explanation they sent me a revised quotation for £559.18, set up a direct debit for this higher amount and charged my bank account for the first 2 months premiums. “send independent surveyor my arse”

All quotes I got from builders were around 700/800 their independent surveyor was 257 then when I asked if that included scaffolding he quickly added 200 to the bill then told me it cost them 150 so 50 quid difference to what he'd put on Bill then offered me 107quid to settle. What a loss take. Not sure why I need insurance if they don't pay out. They plan it so you have to go through them for repairs if you want it fixing.
