I made a claim for water damage to ceilings. It was refused as it was a recurring incident that caused it. I have been trying to get a plumber in to fix the air lock, the principal cause of overflowing bath, for ages and my yellow pages has crossings out all over the plumbing section. Eventually a very nice plumber (I recommend him) did all the work needed. However the ceiling paper which appeared undamaged was torn in the process revealing serious damage to the ceiling. Years of repainting (previous owners) had hidden this. The ceiling in the hall is in the same state. Would I invalidate my insurance if I have to cause damage anywhere else just to check? I fixed the plumbing at my own expense as quickly as I could. What is insurance for? I would not recommend Legal and General. Oh and by the way I had to put 1 star on value for money although I didnt want to.

Legal & General Home Insurance were Disgraceful to deal with when making a claim. My claim for accidental damage to my TV has dragged out for five months with them shirking out of paying using every conceivable excuse.

This is a David vs Goliath situation and they know that they can get out of paying. I would love to see the statistics on how many insurance claims they have actually paid out, I bet it wont be many.

We have been insured with Legal and General for Buildings and Contents Insurance for over 3 years. During the evening between 12th and 13th December 2008 we experienced damage to our roof and immediately contacted the claims line to log a claim. The advisor went away to check our claim and on calling us back advised that the speed of the wind according to the MET office did not reach 41 Knotts and therefore they could not proceed with the claim. This definition of '41 Knotts' is not written any ...

We had a Philips 28" Widescreen Dolby Pro Logic TV in our house and my mum tripped up over the dog and knocked the TV off the stand. When having a TV engineer inspect the set he confirmed that the tube had broke and that we'd need a new TV. We put it on our insurance as it had cost us £999.99 10 years ago (£899.99 with an additional £100 for the Dolby Pro Logic feature of the TV). When putting in the claim we provided the insurance company with all the information they reque ...

Legal & general are a household name, and their home insurance premiums are OK. Customer service isn't the best, and there are restricted features with the product.

There are better products on the market, at better prices.
