Car was damaged on all corners, side doors, wing mirrors - it was like rent a wreck - had to wait ages to be served (40+ mins) then had to go back and queue again to show the agent all the damage, as she'd not mentioned it - then on returning the car with 1/2 a tank of fuel left - we've been charged £66 for fuel - would love to know how (as spanish prices) they managed to squeeze 78 litres of Diesel into a Peug 206. Avoid at all costs - they appear cheap prices for the cars, but hammer you on fuel price - other companies are much better deal, and quality of cars. - would not re use. - gave them 1 star as it wont let me give them half!!

Booked car through autoeurope.com which seemed like a good price. Arrived at airport to search for Solmar agent in car park in the rain. Waited while he rounded up other customers then he drove us to their office - which is NOT at the airport despite the fact that I booked to pick up at airport. Waited 1 hour while they slowly went through booking details and extorted a further (refundable) 630 euro as insurance (and a fee for a safety pack), despite the fact that I had paid excess insurance thr ...

Went on vacation on 18th September to northern Spain and landed in Bilbao. The rental desk was quite easy to find as you only have to follow the signals all over the airport. We booked a Ford Focus and we got an upgrade for free to a C-Max what was more than perfect for us as we had many luggage to carry. The car was in mint condition although it had more than 20.000 kms. and the goatee guy of Solmar was really kind and helpful! Would rent again in Solmar with any doubt. Good value for money.

Myself and 3 friends hired a car through Do You Spain for a week long golfing trip based in Puerto Banus. We were allocated a Ford Focus Est via SOL MAR car hire at Malaga airport. The price was supposed to be 216 euros but not surprisingly with all the add ons inc a full tank of fuel we ended up paying 307 euros. The car was a disaster from leaving the airport as the clutch was obviously shot from the outset. It was virtually impossible to get into gear and even kept pulling away in neutral at ...

Booked through Hertz (via Ryanair) so got a good price. Didnt get the car advertised however we did get a larger one to compensate. Unfortunately the car we got was way over its service date - service indicator stayed constantly on and the tyre pressure warning light beeped away every time we stared the car. Also no water in the screen wash!! (both soon sorted out after a trip to a petrol station) Sol-Mar should be more vigilant with the vehicle preperation and not let cars out without checking ...

if I have read this review before booking..never never book with Sol-Mar!!!!!

Recently rented through 12rent.com car rental and were assigned to Sol-Mar cars Palma de Mallorca airport.

Our initial problem was trying to find their representative at Palma airport as they were no where to be seen at the meeting point. After 3/4 hour another car company representative kindly phoned them for us and they finally came to pick us up.
Our second problem was we had paid half of the total price of renta ...

Very good experience. they upgraded us to a bigger car at no cost. Their excess cdw is only 2 euro a day. you have to phone them when you arrive, freephone in the lobby. A bus comes to collect you and take you to their holiding area. all in all a great experience

I have rented cars from Solmar on at least 20 occasions. I have never had any problems at all. The only slight niggles are that I have never actually had the exact car I ordered - I usually get offered something bigger and the "wheels and Glass" insurance at 3 euros a day is a bit pricy.

We had paid for a Ford Focus or similar but ended up with a Fiat Bravo (smaller car) from Sol-Mar. There was damage on all sides and corners of the car and we made sure that we got this noted on our paperwork, but it was down to us to locate a member of staff rather than them checking this with us when the keys were handed over. When my husband got in the car to drive off, his foot sliped off the pedal as they had sprayed some kind of polish all over the rubber surface of the footwell and the ...

I arrived at Murcia Airport late at night with my 10 year old son. I was given a vauxhall opel even tho I had agreed on a Ford Ka. After spending almost 15 minutes trying to locate the headlights I pulled away to head for the motorway. The car was terrible... gear changing was awful and there was a smell of burning. Eventually after the car stalling several times on the motorway and on any slight incline it ground to a halt with smoke coming from the bonnet. I attempted to call the two numb ...

Sol-Mar very efficient, helpful, reasonably priced; 230 euros everything included, 1 week for a Renault Scenic. Helpful service. Car in good condition. It only took 5 minutes from the airport desk to the car.

Recently returned from Costa Brava. Booked vehicle via internet with Recardrive. Voucher stated local provider Sol-Mar cars. Arrived at Girona airport with family, no sign of any Sol-Mar rep to take up to office as instructed. Found Sol-Mar office near to airport, staff informed us no car booked. Showed pre-paid voucher, stated problem with recardrive and were not with them.
Had to book and pay for another car with another company within Girona airport.
    Beware!

I arrived at santander airport, Sol-Mar, expecting a Clio and got a massive Citroen C4 as an "upgrade" .....but no smaller cars were available when I queried this. I paid Eu 60 for a full tank ...which was difficult to use in the week we were there...so it was a waste for me. Examined the car very carefully and found a few scratches (despite being told it was OK). The car had no handbook but went OK. And they charged us an extra Eu 20 or so deposit for a triangle and yellow vests even though ...

The oil light came on, reported it, Sol-Mar sent a mechanic eventually after not believing us. He took the car away leaving us stranded 2 hours from the airport. We had to get back to the airport paying for the taxi ourselves. They did provide a new car (not a great one). Said they would reimburse us later for out of pocket expenses but then refused to do so when we returned at the end of the holiday saying there was nothing wrong with the original car.

I found their customer services to be poo ...
