“Don't believe their free cancellation promise!”

HolidayAutos promise free cancellation but this promise is contradicted by onerous conditions and time limits you only discover in the small print. You also need to understand that they are an agent and not a rental company so it becomes really difficult to resolve any problems...and based on my experience with HolidayAutos (actually they are a company called Cartrawler based in Ireland) there are likely to be problems. “They apply hidden charges”

Several months ago my fiance booked a car.  Then upon collecting the keys he was told he had to pay more for a set of winter tires which was NOT included in the total amount due stated in the booking confirmation. “Used holiday autos to book car hire through Thrifty/Hertz”

I searched the web for car hire for 1 week hire to pick up at Fuerteventura Airport December 2015. I made the booking on the web chose the car and followed the link when deciding the car I proceeded to book and a page takes you to insurance waiver that I decided to use at additional cost. A lot of car hire firms (not Holiday Auto who are an agent) TRY to make you pay for additional insurance for a waiver of the initial part of the damage charges (the excess) - but stick to your guns and refuse it if you do not want it or have already paid the additional charge to Holiday Autos.
Also scrutinise the vehicle on pick up and drop off and get their attendant to acknowledge on the car diagram showing ALL damages - and take photos before and after the hire. Sounds hard but it is fairly simple and stops them in their tracks.
Watch out for glass damage with other firms that appear invisible but end up with you paying for a new windscreen if it is not covered by additional insurance but they NEVER replace it but wait instead for the next mug so they get a repair paid many times over by numerous hirers for the same damage - applies to bodywork and fittings like parcel shelves etc.
Finally some firms take the deposit off your credit card and then immediately refund it but you lose out by the two different exchange rates that your credit card firm uses - complain to credit card and have it reimbursed.

“Booked car for 5 passengers and got car for 4 passengers!”

Terrible experience with Holiday Autos. I booked a car for 5 passengers and 2 bags for a trip to Switzerland. Instead I received a car for 4 passengers and 1 bag. According to Sixt (car provider) this is a known issue with bookings in Switzerland which Holiday Autos has failed to address. The bottom line is that I couldn't carry all the passengers I needed to carry. I contacted their customer care and they were useless. “Awful company - how can they still trade?”

We booked a vehicle in Canada that was the wrong one -completely different and far too small compared with that advertised and which we entered a contract. “Extra charges for an illegal car ”

The case is still not solved but this is what happened Extra charges of 180 Euros for extra Insurance and fuel cost. I spent quite some time looking at rental cars and charges and I specifically wanted a fuel policy that as full to full. I chose a car through Holiday Autos even though it was actually more money to hire the car in the first place to have the full to full fuel option through the site. At the rental desk they forced us to pay for a tank of fuel on credit card up front. “they blame you off if flight delay happens”

This is a bad outfit company. They expect me to arrive to the airport exactly same time with standart arrivel time on the ticket, even if its international flight. They cancelled the booking and shut the office because my plane was 1 hour delayed !! I paid £70 for booking + £60 for late nignt taxi fare. They said no refund but they paid £20 on their own free will!! As we were delayed on the underground we arrived at their office at 1.20 to find that they were closed until Tuesday morning. “Charged me after trying to give me a car with illegal...”

Never, ever book with Holiday Autos. Whilst on holiday in Cyprus, I booked a Ford Mondeo or similar car through Holiday Autos. Booking confirmed then within 2 days of delivery, they contacted me to say that no Mondeo was available but could be changed to a Focus Estate via Thrifty. I accepted and on the day, they delivered a Ford CMAX (still not what ordered) but it had bald front tyres (less than 1mm left across each tyre). The back ones were on the limit. My booking was for a car from Thrifty. The confirmation/booking voucher that I was sent by Holiday Autos sent me to an address that was no longer in use and gave me two phone numbers, neither of which were in use. “Up Sell Rip-Off”

Initial positive experience ruined by up sell of insurance at Budget desk in Majorca Airport. Purchase made in complete error by husband who didn't realise I had pre-paid in the UK and thought he was paying bill. Genuine mistake at best, underhanded upselling at worst. Holiday Autos and Budget not interested in refund despite me being a Avis Preferred customer. “Lost 2,000 EUR of deposit with no reason”

I have rented a car using Holidayautos for my trip in Turkey in July 2015. The agent that Holidayautos is working charged me 2,000 EUR of deposit with the commitment of returning it back once the car is safely returned. Booked a people carrier in Munich and paid on line. When checking through the documentation, I noted in small print that the company concerned, Holiday Autos, had issued a receipt from an address in Ireland. I can only assume that this is yet another company who have decided not to pay tax in the UK and register in Ireland to avoid paying tax. “Rip off Damage Refund Insurance”

BEWARE: hidden in the fine print of their car rental T&C's is that the main driver (not a passenger or partner) must have a credit card (not a debit card or cash) for the 500 Euro deposit, or the Damage Refund Insurance Holiday Autos have sold you will not even be worth the paper it is printed on... “Terrible is an overstatement”

They didn't have my car, they just left me in the middle of a small airport and all they suggested when I called them was "get a taxi". In a place where there weren't any. I had to rely on the kindness of local people. Then I complained and was told I would get a full refund. I never heard from them and the only way to get my money back was through my credit card. Booked a car to pick up at Malaga with Record Cars. When got there was told euro 25 handling fee, euro 70 for tank of fuel and euro 1200 deposit..!! I had already paid £400 for car hire, so had no choice..!! Staff in Spain very rude - I called Holiday Autos helpline who told me nothing they could do.! Be very careful booking with Holiday Autos - lots of hidden charges & very poor service. “Pisa Airport Green Motion”

Arranged car hire from airport. Do not hire via Green Motion they do not have a rental desk at airport but a shuttle bus 15 km awY. We arrived late and the bus had gone. Had to hire from Avis direct and pay near£300 euros. After complaining to holiday autos we have received a token of goodwill of £98 pound. This is my experience. I booked a car through Holiday Autos and had arranged to pick the car up by 4pm on Saturday 15th August. I arrived at the Europcar office on the Industrial Estate in Morecambe 90 minutes before the time of pick up only to find the office closed.
