Watch out if you don't return the car with full tank - you'll get ripped off! We hired from National/citer in Toulouse through Carhire 3000. We couldn't find a petrol station at the airport to fill-up so returned it 5/6ths empty. On returning home we received an invoice - it had been taken off our credit card - for a FULL tank at euro 1.95 gainst an average price of euro 1.30 in France. So we were ripped off an extra £50 by National/Citer on a rental cost of £172. That works out at close to 30% extra on our car hire cost. We've complained to Traveljigsaw, the Carhire 3000 umbrella but they don't want to know. They quote a bit of small print that says they are not resposible for any extra charges made by the rental company. So, they takes your money and then abandons you. I'm in contact with Trading Standards to see if anything can be done. In the meantime - BE WARNED - Carhire 3000 leave you in the lurch when necessary.

I have used CareHire3000 6 times over the last 8-9 years but only needed a car in USA, ive been to Boston, Newark, Atlanta, Florida & LA. Its not been the same rental company that Ive ended up with a car from but Ive always taken the "full tank of fuel & extra driver" option as we have 2 drivers. A lot of the complaints I have read concern the fuel charge when you pick the vehicle up but as Ive always paid a few extra pound for my above option which means I just have to return the vehicle with ...- Read Guest's review (403 words)

We hired a vehicle from Gold Car Majorca thru' car hire3000 recently and were told on arrival that we had to pay 80 euro (big tank - ha ha, very clever) for a tank of fuel & return the vehicle empty. Since we were only there for 3 and a half days that was not remotely possible. On dropping the vehicle off I made to complain but was fobbed off that I would be credited for the unused fuel (over half a tank). I haven't been and I notice in the small print of the contract that they say no credit ...- Read Guest's review (168 words)

These cowboys thrive on deception and greed. They delibrately don't make you aware that you will be HIT with a fuel charge when you pick the car up at the airport. They know that the fuel levy will be imposed and they choose not to make you aware of this additional charge. They boldly and misleadingly state on the confirmation voucher. "PAID IN FULL".
Don't assume that the price you see is the price you pay- Read kwesi's review (76 words)

The booking was made on the internet. We ended up with Locauto at Treviso.
We were allocated a Chevrolet Aveo - inside was cleanish but not sparkling and the outside was very dusty so it had obviously sat in the park a long time. It was petrol, rather than diesel (petrol is dearer than diesel in Italy), with a very small boot and was very basic. We thought we were getting a Fiat Punto so were disappointed, but accept the Aveo is in the same group.
As usual a credit card imprint was taken b ...- Read Guest's review (215 words)

I've used this company three times now; twice for the USA and once in Europe. I have found them excellent to deal with both online and by phone.
A lot of complaints here should be aimed at the (mostly European) hire companies themselves. It's time the EC took an interest in the scams.
The cost savings over the USA have been remarkable.- Read Guest's review (62 words)

Booked carhire online requested automatic. Called to confirm that this info would be on voucher. Cust service were very courteous and helpful.
When we arrived at Avis desk although voucher read fully paid in Bold print, the girl insisted we had to pay, "you did not book through us directly contact them". She then called Carhire 3000 and they confirmed all was paid. She did not apologise and I felt rather annoyed. However we collected a beautiful automatic Mercedes and were very happy with the ...- Read Guest's review (132 words)

Beware!
Although the quoted cost of rental is cheap, they hit you with huge fuel costs.
e.g. I was charged 70 Euros for a tank of fuel for the Peugot 207.
(I reckon at pump prices, I couldn't spend more than 40 Euros to fill this).
I was told I should not top up the fuel before returning the car 3 days later but I would be given credit for the unused fuel.
(So if 1/2 full I would be charged 35 Euros).
So rental is cheaper, fuel is extortionate. In future I will deal with a company that explains ...- Read Guest's review (129 words)

Having read a number of poor reviews for Car Hire 3000 I felt I needed to write something more positive following my dealings with this company for a car rental in Lanzarote in April 2009. Although I booked the vehicle online I telephoned Car Hire 3000 to check my pick up details. The guy I spoke to was very helpful and knowledgeable. The car hire itself went without a hitch with the representative waiting as we left the arrivals hall. We were on our way less than 20 minutes later. The only ...- Read Guest's review (113 words)

The Hire desk was not where Carhire3000 told me it was,(terminal 1 Manchester airport) it had moved over a year ago, they didn't even know this on their helpline. When I finaly found the desk, the car I ordered 2 weeks previously was ready for me but at the wrong branch. I waited over an hour to for them to get me a different car. Just what you need after a long flight, carting all my luggage around, looking for the stupid rental office, and then being made late by their total incompitence.- Read Guest's review (92 words)

THEY NEED TO SLAP A CAUTION STICKER ON THIS COMPANY AND ANYONE THEY DEAL WITH!!!!!!!!
We have had a HORRIFIC experience wit L'autocar in Italy via CAR 3000. You are encouraged to take out extra insurance....if you do not then you must inspect the car when you return as they will DEDUCT amounts and claim you've scratched the car!!! Whidh we had not!!! FOUR HUNDRED POUNDS for TWO tiny scratches and they were already there!!! A very bad lesson to learn!! I am now off to write to WATCHDOG!!! ...- Read Guest's review (89 words)

We booked a car using this company although we normally use another company. However as the price was cheap we thought we would give them a try. Never again. We waited 2 hours at the airport before anyone came along to give us a car. We contacted the uk company by phone who promised to ring us back in 15 minutes but were still waiting! The car we were given had just been returned so it hadn't been cleaned and was filthy both inside & outside. I would never use this company again and would advise ...- Read Guest's review (103 words)

Thought I would hire a car for week as worked out not much dearer than transfers to & from airport. That was before they told me I had to pay for a full tank of fuel and return it empty (there was no way I was going to use anywhere near a tank of fuel, I used about quarter)So I paid 40 euros and used about 10 (the car wouldn't even take 40 if empty)Rip off!!!!!!- Read Guest's review (74 words)

There are some pretty aweful reviews on this website. I've never had to cancel a booking (which seems to get the most complaints). I have used carhire 3000 over a dozen times recently in UK, Hungary and USA. Every single time , my car has been ready for me, very good cars, no extra charges, and even a tank full of petrol this last time which I hadn't booked!
Their rates are excellent. Compare Enterprise booked locally in USA last week, 3 days was £112. Carhire 3000 was £189 for 9 ...- Read Guest's review (142 words)

Very impressed. Excellent all inclusive rate atleast 30% cheaper than going directly via Alamo-US or Alamo-UK. For our booking from SFO, What we got is the same great car and service at 30% less cost. As adviced by other posters here, we made sure the booking exists as Carhire3000 is just a middleman. Everything smooth, money well saved!- Read Guest's review (56 words)

My experience with Carhire3000 was excellent.
There was 6 of us so it was very important that the vehicle (Opel Zafira) was able to carry that number in comfort.
I booked with Carhire3000 before reading any reviews, so I was very worried that something might go wrong. I need not have been.
The vehicle was exactly as agreed
The terms were exactly as described
We returned the vehicle as agreed with as near a full tank as possible. No charge was made to top the to the brim.
No extra charges wer ...- Read Guest's review (143 words)

I have received very poor service with Car Hire 3000. I echo the thoughts of others on this site that they give themselves a ridiculous 28 days to deal with any complaint and then do not honour this timeframe.- Read Guest's review (37 words)
