  my old cans were staring to show their age. i was lucky a certain high street shop had some Sennheiser HD465 on display & test. i was quite impressed with them as id had a similar pair of Sennheiser once before .. but i wasnt happy with the top end. the fqy response was incredible at the low end but faded off towards the top. the HD 465 i tried still seemed to have the deep bass but also showed the high end much better. i planned on getting them at a later date .. but there was a sale on at another shop & i had to get in quick. the shop had the better version the HD 485 cans. they wernt on test but at a reduced price ... so i handed over the money regardless.

  the headphones look really smart. they arnt silver but slightly gold in a matt finish.
  they DONT creak like my old cans (which is good) and are very light. the sound .. its as if the -loudness- button is on ... so backing off the bass and treble help to calm them down some. at this setting they sound crisp - the bass goes very low and it also helps the mid range .. so i guess if your amp isnt too warm these may brighten things up some.
  the earcups arnt too bad. ive not worn them much yet .. so they may soften up .. but i feel they are a bit firm. the lead can be replaced i believe as can the earpads.
  one nice touch is the holder. the headphones came with a pucker bracket that can be fixed almost anywhere u fancy to hang them. in all the years ive owned headphones .. albeit they were low priced .. this id say is a very practical device .. not at all gimicky.

  overall so far .. as a studio headphone .. id say these may be the best sounding cans ive owned yet.
