Good Points: Good programme index, you can still see the channel you are watching whilst checking the listings.

Bad Points: Poor remote control sensitivity, it has to be pointed directly at the set and often takes a while to respond.
Continually dropped words of the sountrack, then gets out of sych with the picture - have to turn if off and then on again before it sorts itself out.
Numbers/ markings on the remote wore off in weeks.
Unreliable: first lasted 7 mths, 2nd, 1 day

General comments: The Hitachi HDB60 has the potential to be a good set, bought on Hitachi's name, but never again.
They need to address the quality issue, it isn't cheap and there are better units out there. Has put me off the brand altogether

The Hitachi HDB60 freeview box was very reliable at first but then packed up about 6 months after I bought it.

On the first day I got the unit everything worked just fine, the next day it died on me after being switched on for about 4 hours, it overheated, the unit itself was boiling. So after blowing on the unit to cool it down and placing it on a grill stand so it effectively wasn't in contact with a flat surface, it started up fine again and it hasn't overheated since. Anyway it got all the channels and I was happy, 1-2 months later I no longer get most of the channels, they'll come on for less than ...

Thought I had made a good purchase, but due to the short lifespan of this receiver, it wasn't worth paying more than the cheaper versions.

Overall, I was impressed with the Hitachi HDB60 freeview box and it was easy to set up, and it also had the two scart sockets I needed. I was disappointed to find it expired just after the guarantee at 15 months!
