Good Points: Good simple design and the remote is multifunctional with the JVC tv and video.
Bad Points: Horribly unreliable. Within the first few months there were problems with the EPG listings not giving full lists and sometimes no list at all. All this despite keeping the unit powered up as advised in the hand book.
The unit would occasionally switch itself off and refused to power up until the whole thing was isolated from the mains for 1 minute or so.
The power pack failed after 14 months and had to be replaced with a generic unit as the original unit was by then obsolete and unobtainable.
The unit began to get very hot and eventually failed completely with a nasty burning smell. It now lives in the recycle bin!
General comments: I have been a fan of JVC kit for around 20 years but this is one of the poorest examples of electrical gadgetry I have seen for a long while. I would not recommend it to any one. I have since replaced it with a cheapo Woolworths 'worth it' freeview box and it actually works very well. There are even 3 free games built in to the software. All for £17 too!

Don't buy the JVC TU-DB1 freeview box unless you want trouble. I don't think it's made by JVC, as it's such rubbish!
It broke down after only 13 months (out of guarantee). It keeps turning the TV off, which caused me to falsely call the engineer out. Expensive huh!- Read GlynnCarter's review (57 words)

My JVC TU-DB1 freeview box may have just been a bad one, but these freeview boxes seen unreliable. I would have expected more from JVC, but the EPG was horrible. The list is upside down compared with handset, so you went up the channels when you expected to go down. Don't buy one for your Mother!- Read XL's review (74 words)
