Good Points: I wouldn't know. It only plays c 13:00

Bad Points: I bought this because of the Sony name and could have bought a very good DVD player that actually worked as advertised from one of many other companies.

General comments: They should rename my Sony DVP-S560D the "c13:00" because that's all it plays. A very disappointing and expensive mistake; trusting them to make a dvd player that actually works.

I guess I've been luckier than the rest of these folks, my unit lasted 4 years before it started giving me the C:13:00 error. I used advice I found out about the "hidden menu" and it took care of it for a while. Now 2 years later I'm getting it again and also the "insert disc" error even when it has a disc in. And I've had freezing and skipping too. Like these other folks, I will never buy Sony products again. Too bad, they USED to be the best thing going.

I have used this player a lot, I was under the impression that it played mpegs and other video formats, I have not had any luck playing anything but DVD's. All in all for the price and reliability, or lack of, I would not buy this unit again.

I've been had like so many others entrusting in the Sony name. Player worked great while it was working. It does get hot really fast, Even while only playing one movie. Problems started in the begining with the freezing of frames towards the end of the DVD and eventually moving into the notorious "No Disk" text. Tried getting support from Sony to find that they will only replace unit with referb for 185.35$ That's 185.$ too much for this piece of you know what!

I bought a whole sony set up for dvd and surround sound to ensure it would work together fine with one remote. it didn't. Then the Sony DVP S560D dvd player began to skip chapters, restart dvds in the middle of a movie, couldn't identify a dvd was in the tray, produced error code 13, a number of other items. Sony said tough luck because it has a warranty, of course they were absolutely no help when it was in warranty. this is the worst sony product ever made on the planet earth. i will be g ...

I'll never buy Sony again ... nothing. No TVs. No receivers. No CD players. Not even a blank disc from them. They screwed me and enjoyed it. The Sony DVP S560D DVD Player gives you random but frequent and frustrating C:13 or "no disc" errors on perfectly-good discs. In fact, they play sometimes ... other times, not so well. Piece of rubbish. Sony should be shamed.

The Sony DVP S560D was great till it started acting up after about 2 years of use. DVD's would freeze, skip, restart, etc, came online to find some answers. After reading a review that turning the display (dimmer) off helped, I decided to check it out. Turning off the display (dimmer) did nothing. However I messed with the setup and have found that the problem goes away with the right settings. With NO DVD in press the Display button: (you can do this from the remote or at the unit, but can not ...

Horrible machine!!! I thought my wife had some setting wrong on the Sony DVP S560D about 6 months ago when that evil "c13" and "No disk" response came back to me. It caused a couple of good fights- thanks SONY! Pathetic company- no response whatsoever except- Warranty still good? Piece of crud company.

Overall, I am pleased with the Sony DVP S560D DVD player. I had hoped it would last longer, but I suppose, as they say, good things don't last forever. Problem I am facing is the DVP S560 supported Dolby 5.1. All speaker cables were fed into the ports in the back of the unit. I noticed many of the newer systems rely on a simulated surround. Now what do I do? I have $2000 invested in Boston Acoustics audio. It seems a waste not to be able to use it. I can use a little advice. Anyone?

My friends and family used to get a kick out of how I'd grumble at this DVD player because it wouldn't eject the DVD disk reliably. Alternately, I would have to insert a disk a few times before it would recognize the disk had been inserted. I've had the silly thing for over two years now, and it has been been reliably unreliable.

While watching a movie (not a particular movie) the screen would go all "pixelated" and freeze. Sometimes, after doing this, it would jump back to somewhere near ...

I'm just one more name to throw into the pile of folks who have been cursed by this dvd player. By the time I realized it was the unit creating all the problems and not the dvds, the warranty was up. Sony still will not acknowledge that there is a problem with this unit. The reason I bought it is that Consumer Reports rated it number 1 for the players that were out at the time. After spending $230 on this supposedly great player I feel pretty ripped off.

I'll never buy Sony again. Overpriced and under performing. This product is dismal.

As with everybody else, I get a blotchy picture and skipping after 30 minutes or more of play. Then the cursed c13:00 message. I tried changing the fuse and leaving the cover off, but I still had the same errors. I did however just run across a website with another solution. Look at http://www.iwaynet.net/~nesda/SonyDVD.html . I just found it but have not tried it. All in all, every piece of Sony equipment I have owned has ceased to function properly in one way or another. I thought that ...

DVD player is pretty good. I rarely use it so it still works like a charm, had it since Dec of 2000 and it still runs excellent, maybe in due time it will crumble?

problems from the outset. Discs would skip and jump around a lot. Then after 8 months we got the "no disc" and C:13:00 message. Basically a worthless piece of garbage.

I'm having the same problems with my player. And during the same time frame as the other reviewers here. I've had the player just under 2 years. I swore off Sony's CD players several years ago. Now I'm doing the same with their DVD players. I don't think expecting this equipment to last more than 2 years is unreasonable.

I have had picture freezes and pixilation with my Sony DVP-S560D only after it has been on for 2 hours or more. It is 2 years old & this has been getting worse the last 6 months. It will respond after a few seconds to the remote commands but freezes again in a minute or so. If I turn it off for -1 hour it again plays normally.
During these freezes there is NO error message displayed. Most users report the freezes WITH a C: 13:00 error code.
After reading the other reviews and the repair web ...

The player made it for about two years, then all of a sudden it stopped reading DVD's. It would read a regular CD though. Luckily, I purchased the extended warranty from the store. They said I would get all my money back for the price I paid. The service department said the logic board was out. Also had numerous problems with disc randomly going to random places on DVD when watching a movie. Very VERY annoying !

Unit worked fine for about 22 months, then started having problems reading DVD's - C1300 error. Now it hardly ever works. I expected a Sony product to last forever, or at least until I chose to acquire newer, better technology - on my own terms. From what I understand, Sony will not stand by the product - though I'm just about to give it a try anyway.

I own a sony DVP-S560D and 6 months after I bought it the frustrating unit it stoped playing. c-13err, no disk is all I got out of it. I still had valid warrenty. When I got my player back it worked fine for, well until my warrenty was expired. I started having probloms playing dvd's, after a few tries it would work for a while, but skip around now I can't play dvd's any more. Any way I checked out the info on the F402 fuse and it looks like sony did what was recommended on (ben-morris)web site. ...
