    Good Points: Does upscaling. Easy setup.


    Bad Points: Freezes up. Doesn't recognise some DVD-R disks.


    General comments: The Samsung DVD-HD850 plays originals and DivX, yes, but your copies will be hit and miss and it does lock up and you then have to switch it off and on.

    Have had this Samsung DVD-HD850 just over a month. It had good reviews and a Hi-Def player to try out the plasma with. First Impressions have been excellent. I run an optical cable to the home cinema and DVi connection to the tv, so I am not sure if the sound quality is good or bad. Best budget starting hi-def player to buy. Plays far more of the DVD's than my sony.

    My Samsung HD850 has been fine. The picture at 1080i is noticeably sharper although the colors seems to be less saturated and not as accurate as on my APEX DVD player. Setup is easy.
