    Good Points: Value for money if on a tight budget,low noise level on recording and play back,god too have free view built in with easy too use tv guide and timer setting


    Bad Points: Picture quality a little less than i was expecting, also had problems with play back on a 4.3 ratio TV looks OK on the TV but when playing back picture is wide screen and looks distorted,on a 16.9 wide screen TV looks OK.


    General comments: OK for the money,good build quality.

    The image color produced by the Philips DVP-5500 DVD player isn't very rich, but it's OK.
    Image Details: acceptable at this price range
    Noise Level: acceptable
    Would run for more time to test.
    May consider the DVP 5900 as an alternative.
