Bad Points: Mediocre battery life, in fact if you were thinking on doing some long shoots it might be better to buy a more expensive battery from Sony... one with 8 hours or so, although I can still get about 100 minutes or more at full charge which should be fine for most people. One major problem people will have with this camcorder (and all DVD camcorders I may point out) is the transferring to PC issue. If you format a disc on the 205 in the mode "CAN edit on camcorder" you will find it impossible to rip the DVD for playback or editing on your computer. Even with the more sensible DVD format this can be more tricky than just ripping DV tape for example... the disc formats are quite tricky for the average user.
General comments: Excellent picture quality with the Sony DCR-DVD205, you can playback on your TV and it looks very clear. It's got a lot of features in the menu and the touch screen is really useful, you can bend it all the way around to use your camcorder almost like a Nintendo DS. When filming tricky angles you can change the position of the screen very easily to see what your are shooting. It's extremely easy to use and has a simple GUI for playback and recording. Your exposure, focus, and digital effects are easy to manipulate before and during recording - you can even customize menus so the features you use the most are straight at the top.

My main issue with the Sony DCR-DVD205 was juddery pictures. This was the first DVD cam I had used so I'm not sure if this is a 'feature' but I was using the camera in normal everyday family mode. Images looked like they were in brief slow-motion sometimes. If you have to use Sony disks then I think that is a con.
