As soon as I contacted LV about a possible claim (before I decided to claim, actually I was wondering if it was worth it), they sent me the renewal documents (because the renewal date was close) and they increased the sum for next year by more than double.When i asked them why such a dramatic increase, they said because I had in mind to make a claim!… Read Full Review

I made a small claim with LV following a lightening strike. I tried claiming for my PC, landline phone and cooker. I paid a £250 excess. Collected my PC and repaired it really badly. I had to get a friend to fix it for me. They gave me a voucher for a new phone without fuss. An assessor came and looked at my cooker. I had to chase and chase to get the result of the assessment of my cooker. I was told that it wasnt installed properly and they wouldnt repair or replace. I complained about my PC… Read Full Review

Took out home insurance policy with LV after looking at compare.com. Quote was £93+ which wasn't the cheapest but being a big firm you should expect good service. After approx 2 weeks received a letter stating I owed them a further £60 as I had made a claim of accidental damage in the last 5 years. I checked my documents and this claim shows on my policy document with my premium of £93. I telephoned and asked why the extra charge, and why it is 2/3 the total cost of the overall policy. "My claim under LV's Home Buildings policy started badly because LV gave me the wrong number to ring. It took 20 minutes to get through to a claims handler. I explained there was a leak from the shower and the claim was passed to Davies Property Claims. Having heard nothing from Davies for 5 days I hired my own plumber to look at the problem but he couldn't find the cause of the leak. I phoned Davies to tell them. After paying for many years I finally had to claim for water damage in my kitchen from a leak in the bathroom above. 4 weeks later no work has been done and no timescale either. I have had 4 visits from the company who is co ordinating and I am still waiting for them to come and remove the tiles/units so the walls will dry. I had LV Home Insurance on a property I sold after 9 months of the Annual Policy. Needless to say they offered NO rebate on the 3 months remaining. I have been with LV for years, but this year before renewal I took insurance from an alternative Company as it covered my needs more in depth. I contacted LV to cancel the policy prior to renewal on the 1st November. The have totally ignored my request to cancel and keep sending me reminders with direct debits and though my Direct Debit has been cancelled with my bank and my new insurance is in force they keep setting up their Direct Debit with my Bank and I have to cancel it. Went through the process to get a quote online, then confirmed by telephone with their call centre. All was fine, with a good quote BUT then I was told that as a condition of insurance I would need to make sure all windows and doors were locked at night (fair enough) and I would have to have an alarm fitted! I do not live in a high-crime area and am not an obvious crime target, so I felt this was too onerous a condition. Have never claimed on my house insurance in over 30 years. Called LV on early evening on Friday as when got home from work we had 2 rooms with water coming through the roof. It is now Monday and we have been passed from pillar to post by their claims handling department always promising to calling back but never doing. I have used Liverpool Vistoria for buildings insurance for a number of years because they offered a competitive premium with good service. Not any longer. When my garden wall blew down in the winter of 2013/4 it took them over four months to get it put back. Complaints to them resulted in promises of immediate attention which, however were pie in the sky. My front door was kicked down by a x boyfriend, the police were called out and he was cautioned. Contacted LV told them the circumstances, could not lock the door, have a 4yr old daughter in the house. In the end my dad repaired the door. Having had LV insurance for home , contents and both of our cars for many years we have, more recently added travel insurance. Periodically, we do look at quotes and cover from other providers to compare competitive value and quality of cover. Suffice to say that we have found no reason to change. Got a new LV quote on-line for buldings and contents insurance to compare against my renewal. The renewal was 30% higher than the on-line quote. I did chase up with LV why they were screwing loyal customers and was told that I had done 'all the work' by entering the information for my on-line quote and it saved them work in sedning out my renewal quote-apparently an underwriter has to check the current risk against my post code.
