well tried to make a claim, but once again they say "your are not covered for that"....... 10 years with them, they don't send you renewal or up-dated policies what a waste of money.....

The Barclays policies are underwritten by Gresham who are part of the Aviva group. Had to claim for storm damage and have been waiting 3 months with water coming into 2 rooms. They dont assign individual claims handlers so you wait and listen to piped music for hours. or they hang up. Aviva is the old name for the Norwich Union and I suspect the recent redundancies there is reflected in their surly non co-operative attitude. A truly dreadful experience - Avoid them at all costs.

Do not even bother to insure with Barclays, there quotes may intise you with cheap prices, but when you need to make a claim they run a mile and do not want to know you....Keep away from them!
My roof has now been leaking through our kitchen ceiling which we have had fully replaced 2 years ago...Asprea are saying we are not covered as down to wear & tear!!!.Can't work that one out?

I have Barclays home insurance and have had it for 3 years. I have never had to claim until recently, I claimed for my corner sofa which was torn accidentally. I phoned them about the claim and within a few days they sent Rainbow Restorers who said they were unable to restore the leather. They sent a report back to Barclays who then phoned me and asked for me to obtain quotes for a replacement which I did. I sent them on the Tuesday and on the Thursday they rang me and agreed it and paid me dir ...

My parents had to make a claim with Barclays InsuranceI opted to leave them after hearing the story and, even though I had been with them for over a year (and past the term I initially signed up for) they said there was a cancellation fee of nearly £27! I was told it was in the small print. This left me gob smacked. if you are interested read ALL THE SMALL PRINT.

With Barclays it's only cheap until you need to claim. In June this year there was a sewage blockage in my neighbours drain, as 6 of us are responsible the council got involved, issued an enforcement notice that the drain run had to be cleared surveyed and repaired within 21 days. As none of my neighbours would do anything, I decided to deal with it and claimed from Barclays who do not deny liability. It is now December and still Barclays have done nothing to repair the drain. After dozens of ph ...

We had a flood from bathroom (toilet blocked and overflowed), ruined wooden units in bathroom, leaked through dining room ceiling and created a waterfall down one wall in dining room. Carpets ruined, wallpaper came off, ceiling about to fall down.
That was on 30th August, today is the 25th November and guess what, the dining room is in EXACTLY the same condition as the day it all happened. A company called Asprea were given the task of surveying damage and they in turn sub-contracted to Ansa (p ...

I currently have home insurance with these people and would not recommend them at all. I have had no heating or hot water for over 3 weeks. I have 3 small children living in ths house and it still is not sorted.

So in total 'Barclays' required was £378.99 inclusive for my renewal.
I got on to 'More than' ...Within 10 mins. I was quoted £277.38 .for a one off payment for the year. They would however
Have charged approx. £25.00 extra (only) for the direct debit payments for 12 months. Compared to Barclays £72.00.
Yes... I saved £100.00. Moving to More than!!!
Perhaps 'More than' should change their name to ' Lessthan '?
    Sorry Barclays.

During the storms in January 2007 we developed a leak in our roof. We phoned Barclays insurance and they advised that due to the high level of emergency repairs they could not supply a contractor. We were told by Barclays to go throught the yellow pages/get any local known contractor to come out to give us a quote and to call them back with the information (this in itself was no mean feat as all roofers were stacked up with work, we must have made loads of calls!). Eventually we managed to get s ...

Will never touch any insurance firm that uses Asprea again as still waiting 5 months down the road for them to fix a leak and repair my ceiling!

Barclays states they will respond to complaints within 2 working days. We wrote a letter to Barclays on the 4th April 2008. I have telephoned twice to see why no one has responded. We had the first contact today (16th May) but not from Barclays......from Asprea stating that their is no point responding to our letter if eventually all the work is done!

We had a bad snow storm on Sunday night, waking up to inches of snow. Before I left for work i noticed a trickle of water coming through my ceiling in my Bay window. Left bowls and towels to soak up water. When my husband came home from work contacted Barclays. The water was a little heavier but still manageable with a bowl. After being put on hold for twenty mins then hung up on, finally told someone would come out and repair roof. Great we thought. Workmen came next day said they were doing ...

Barclays Home Insurance - After a heavy snow storm last Sunday night, we woke up to inches of snow. Before i left for work i noticed a drops of water coming through my bay window surround. I put a bowl and towels down. When my husband came in from work a little later discovered it was coming from the roof and a coming through heavier as snow was melting and it had started to rain heavy. He phoned Barclays to be put on hold for twenty mins then hung up on. Phoned again spoke to someone who liste ...

All other bad, literally everything. I put two claims with them one in June and another in July, both genuine. Managed to settle in December! They never returned my call, not a single time. The people they appointed were not up to the job.
Would not recommend them at all.

From the moment I called about a claim, I knew it was not going to be easy - they kept promising to call back, but they never did as systems were down.
Children would not write on a wall but the workman did.
It might be cheaper to use Barclays Home Insurance, but I am living to regret it. The last five months have been hell, and I am still chasing for them to replace the locks on my house after they lost the key.

Their maintenance company are shocking! I had to chase them all the time to ...

I saved £175 a year with barclays Home Insurance, and Staff and servicing was excellent.

Having worked in the insurance (broker) industry prior to call centres I am so relieved and pleased to actually deal with people who really do want to help.

I have submitted a claim to Barclays Home Insurance regarding floor tiles that are moving and cracking on my bathroom floor. They have suggested that my claim is not valid, as there was lack of maintenance and a failed bath seal. Oh, let's not forget... I have a shower curtain "that's notorious for causing damage to bathroom floors" stated the Barclays assessor. I have written to their customer services and their chairman. I will post the outcome on this site.
