“ware and tear”

My wife lost a diamond out of her trilogy ring.When i got the estimate it was £175 for the stone and £125 for the setting of the stone and rebuild.I was told by the insurance they would give me only £100 as i have £75 excess and the stone came out because of ware and tear.So i would have to pay for it fitting myself.When i took out the insurance they said if something was broke/stolen/damaged they would pay to have it replaced.What a lie… Read Full Review

We claimed a flooding damage to the wooden floor. they removed floor boards in two weeks time, we are in the 4th month now and job still hasn't finished yet, nothing has been done since. there's a Barclays contractor called Expert. they're truly dull minded and dull acting. they can't communicate they don't return calls, total failure. my living room at the moment is inhabitable, I can't invite people it's like a building site. “Home Insurance.”

After being with Barclays Home Insurance for nine years,i had enough with them trying to claim for Storm damage and Legal Cover. After paying £37.25 a month for basically nothing! WORST ever,never go with barclays,customer loyalty does not come into it! Saved myself £240 for the same cover with a better company. Even though i had to pay £12-86 to leave the policy. Rip off! My garage roof stRted leaking after 79mph winds. It took them 2 weeks to send a guy down who was fat and had no ladderto climb up the roof. He said to bitumen the roof. “conservatory leaking roof”

Just arrived home after a stay in hospital to find 6 ridge tiles on the lawn dislodged during the night after a violent storm. Rang Barclsys insurance who immediately authorised up to £500 to get the job fixed. Grabbed a roofer looking for work and asked him to do the job straight away. Having been with Barclay's Insurance for 2 years I missed a payment with them. re-set up the direct debit and assumed it has all been sorted. No got a letter which basically ended my insurance with them. I hadn't received another letter to say my payment had not gone through. They just cancelled my insurance. Do not go near this company 6 months on we still have a damp kitchen and damaged lounge flooring! We asked builders to quote for the damage following Barclays advice but barclays will not pay the full amount they say its too much! Today we will be going to the ombudsman!!!!!!!!! “Resolvable burst pipe turns into 10 months of complete...”

When a pipe burst beneath the sink in June 2011 resulting in 3" of water throughout the entire ground floor of the house I never envisaged the complete chaos, stress, lack of organisation and ridiculous amount of time that it would take to get back into my property....and we're still not back yet!Barclays has managed to pass the claim from pillar to post, assigning various differant subsidery companies to oversee the claim(these arent the companies that are doing the work I hasten to add)… Read Full Review

“Welched On Payment”

I took out home insurance with Barclays in branch. I was specificaly interested in covering two bicycles I had. These bicycles were subsequently stolen. When I went to claim, Barclays told me I wasn't in fact covered because other residents in my apartment block had access to the place where the bikes were locked up. 1st time I have had to claim on home insurance in 10 years, and I have been blown away by the ease and professionalism of the service. A leak caused damage to flooring, and needed identifying as under the floor). I changed my insurance provider when I became a Barclays customer in 2011. I have been very happy with them as a banking customer and I was suitably impressed with the price of their home insurance so I swapped providers. In September 2012 I upgraded to an iphone 5 on my phone tariff and the first thing I did was investigate insurance for the phone. “Flood Damage”

Two of our rooms had flood damage from a dish washer and central heating system. Barclays sent out a surveyor who said we had rising damp and we couldn't claim. He then sent out another specialist to check the walls. The specialist came back and said we didn't have rising damp! The surveyor then agreed to get all the work done and wrote down the work that needed to be priced up. We contacted contractors and got the quotes. “Let down by their choice of suppliers, ie Ansa Utilities.”

I was not dissatisfied with Barclays until I claimed for damage to my drains which had caused sewage to flood my garden. Barclays persuaded my to use their supplier, Ansa Utilities, rather than my own trusted local drainage contractor. If I could award Ansa Utilities no stars at all I would have done. Their engineers seem to have no idea on how to unblock a drain, and their repair crews failed to repair the drain and left a mess of my property. Cancelling your Direct Debit DOES NOT STOP your insurance, you must call the company tell them you have taken out new cover from your renewal date and they will be more than happy to backdate your as you have been dual insured.

What a surprise. Ditto on drainage. Will not insure with them again under any circumstances and suggest others keep well clear of them. Never dealing with the same person twice and no one having a clue what the case is about in spite of agreeing I was insured and they would do it.
Seven month later and it is still far from finished and the work done up to now very poor. No one ever rings back.
Barclays subcontracted to Aviva subcontracted to Ansa. All as bad as one another.
