Having been with Barclay's Insurance for 2 years I missed a payment with them. re-set up the direct debit and assumed it has all been sorted. No got a letter which basically ended my insurance with them. I hadn't received another letter to say my payment had not gone through. They just cancelled my insurance. When I called up the 2 people I spoke to were next to useless and I am still waiting a call from their complaints department 3 days on (which they told me I should have a call by now). ... I took out home insurance with Barclays in branch. I was specificaly interested in covering two bicycles I had. These bicycles were subsequently stolen. When I went to claim, Barclays told me I wasn't in fact covered because other residents in my apartment block had access to the place where the bikes were locked up. I had made ths clear when I took out the policy and was assured I would be covered. I would recommend you choose any other home insurance provider than Barclays. Complete... (read more)

1st time I have had to claim on home insurance in 10 years, and I have been blown away by the ease and professionalism of the service. A leak caused damage to flooring, and needed identifying as under the floor). A phoned Barclays, a claim was lodged and I was advised to get a plumber to identify the problem and costs will be covered. They would also send a surveyor out to check the damage to the floor. He arrived, measured up, and offered a settlement for the floor there and then that... (read more)

I changed my insurance provider when I became a Barclays customer in 2011. I have been very happy with them as a banking customer and I was suitably impressed with the price of their home insurance so I swapped providers. In September 2012 I upgraded to an iphone 5 on my phone tariff and the first thing I did was investigate insurance for the phone. I was made aware that I could add my phone to my home insurance for a really small extra cost which I was more than happy with! I have been... (read more)

Two of our rooms had flood damage from a dish washer and central heating system. Barclays sent out a surveyor who said we had rising damp and we couldn't claim. He then sent out another specialist to check the walls. The specialist came back and said we didn't have rising damp! The surveyor then agreed to get all the work done and wrote down the work that needed to be priced up. We contacted contractors and got the quotes. Before we had even sent the quote to the surveyor he offered us a... (read more)

I was not dissatisfied with Barclays until I claimed for damage to my drains which had caused sewage to flood my garden. Barclays persuaded my to use their supplier, Ansa Utilities, rather than my own trusted local drainage contractor. If I could award Ansa Utilities no stars at all I would have done. Their engineers seem to have no idea on how to unblock a drain, and their repair crews failed to repair the drain and left a mess of my property. I had to employ my own contractor who put right... I got my renewal notice from Barclays recently for Contents/Home insurance. I'd been with them for a number of years but had noticed that the annual premium was increasing quite a bit. I'm unemployed at present due to redundancy, so I went on a comparison site and found a lot of companies were more than half the price of Barclays - so I cancelled my direct debit and went with Nationwide instead. Now I have had a letter demanding a cancelation payment of £32 - yet I was out of contract! I... (read more)

Barclays insurance is cheap, no denying it. However it comes at a cost. We were burgled, they took everything we own. Having an empty house for 2 months is very annoying, especially if you use things like a laptop for work.
I have claimed insurance for other things in the past. Once for a phone, where it took months to get a replacement and once for a bike, where it took weeks. You get what you pay for. You don't pay much for this.
I expected the claim to take a long time, but not things... (read more)

Barclays home insurance! we claimed for a water leak from a tap in the bathroom, water seeped downstairs causing damage. It took two years to get under £2,000. The Barclays policies are underwritten by Gresham who are part of the Aviva group. Had to claim for storm damage and have been waiting 3 months with water coming into 2 rooms.
