“Rude Customer Service”

I just called Atlas travel insurance, about our annual policy to check if we cannot travel due to Volcanic erruption and received the most appalling customer service. I have used Atlas for around 15 years for annual and single trips but never had to actually speak to them about a claim or potential claim, only ever to renew my policy. Please do not use this company. I booked and paid for travel insurance for 5 members of my family for an amazing 2 week trip to America in Feb 2017 using the online booking system, chose the medium cover with cancellation, paid for it and received the policy document and the terms and conditions . My wife tried to renew our policy. She calls me over and says listen, puts the fone on speaker and I get to hear a Caribbean lady say "are you talking to me or someone else". The wife then hands me the fone and says "she is rude". Over the next minute I get to find out how rude this woman is!!! “Ignorant customer service”

We've been customers of this travel insurance company for years but no more. We had a years travel insurance that ended last month. When we got back from a holiday there was a letter from Atlas saying they were going to take £95 from my bank account within the next few days to automatically renew our travel policy and if we didn't contact them they would just take the cash!! I have been a customer of atlas direct for many years, they were helpful in the past which is why my family and I continued our policy with them. However, judging from our horrible experience and recent reviews, I'm guessing all their workers may have been replaced by lazy, rude and incompetent people. We are due to travel on June 17th had renewal through called them partner has a cracked rib from two weeks ago she needs a fit to fly from doctor , no problem if she is fit to fly. But if she is not my insurance runs out for the year on june23rd that's why I need to renew it. They have said if you can't travel your not able to claim a thing !! “Shocking”

Oh my days. What a horrible experience! Called customer services and the phone was answered by a really sarcastic woman who, upon hearing my issue, kept interrupting with a sarcastic 'oh dear'. She was so abrupt and when she sounded like she was going to cut the call I said "hang on a minute, you're supposed to be giving me a service" She said 'what do you want me to do?' After being with Atlas for ten years I had to claim on my policy. The policy was on an automatic renewal basis and this year they didn't renew the policy. That meant I went on holiday with a certificate that wasn't valid. When I rang them they informed me they couldn't take money due to insufficient funds which is wrong. I just called to check some details regarding the annual multi-trip but woman just wanted to refer me to 'terms & conditions' even when asked the direct question. Either she doesn't know if they have a 24 hour line for medical emergencies (kinda important to know if you're traveling to the States) or she just couldn't be bothered to go through it. i have traveled in atlas travel and i got very bad experience in the trip. they are charging more and they will not stop for any break in between the trip. they used it is non stop but it is taking too long to reach destination

I purchased holiday insurance for a holiday in lanzarote in May 15 unfortunately i had an accident and fell breaking my shoulder when trying to contact the emergency 24 hour service number we were unable to I don't know if there was a problem with line but couldn't make contact and when trying the customer service number was told they couldn't help had to try again which we did and no joy as a 61 year old woman in a foreign country in unfamiliar territory I was left to my own devices… Read Full Review

I have been an Atlas Direct customer for years and have always used them to cover any trip abroad. They have provided additional insurance for a medical condition twice and were generally great, reasonably priced and easy to deal with. Last year we paid about £23 for a policy to cover a family of three for a week with no excess. Found tele staff to be really polite and helpfull. The lady I spoke to helped me chose the right policy for me and my children. I needed to change my policy a year later which was done quickly with no hassle. My refund was made immediately. Fortunately I have not had to make a claim on my policy so cannot comment on this but hope but the nature of how atlas have dealt with any queries they will give me all the help I would need.
