We used gmac for our rental property. The closing date was April 29th a Friday. We did not receive the money until May 2. We had tenants with a moving van full of furniture who had paid from the first. . This was costly to us but eventually gmac did compensate. Now three years later we secured a mortgage through TD and they sent everything to gmac on the 23 th (due date was 29th). On the 30 when TD had not heard from gmac they sent another fax . It is now May 1 and when I phoned gmac they said that they have not received anything from TD. But low and behold while talking to them a fax came through but they could not give me any information because it was being worked on. I now am told it should be processed tomorrow . I find it hard to believe that a company with such slow business practices is still in business. I have had many mortgages in the past and have never encountered such a calamity before and will never do business with gmac again.

I have been with GMAC Mortgages for over 5 years and in that time they have changed my monthly payments several times even though the interest rates have not changed. They quite often have your account run by another company so it often takes several telephone calls to get hold of someone and all numbers are 0870.

Dealing with the incompetent people is very stressful. Worked with 3 different people, none local, and all 3 would give conflicting information, give me wrong requirements, wrong paperwork, delay after delay... took around 3 months just to refinance a mortgage I already had with them.

I have had a mortgage with gmac for 3 years I have not had a problem with them in the past, but I have never had to speak to them until now, have recently found a house insurance that is half the price I am paying at the moment, I phoned the insurance company payment shield and asked if I would be charged if I cancelled my insurance with them, they said no not at all...so I cancelled and setup with a new company, I got a letter in the post from gmac to say they where not happy that I have canc ...

We signed up for a construction loan through GMAC. That was our first mistake. Our documents we signed at the escrow company has white out, were scratched out on areas with things written in over other text. We signed one paper, and the very next one said the opposite. Moving forward through our building process (which was just wonderful) we have now been in our newly built home for over 80 days. Still unable to close.... why I don't know. Every time I call, it takes about 2 days to actually tal ...

I have not directly dealt with GMAC Mortgages but the purchaser of our property has applied for a buy to let loan with them. They are totally incompetent. They took over 7 weeks to eventually carry out the survey on the property and have now taken over 4 weeks to issue an offer. We have been advised everyday for the last 2 weeks that they are sending the offer out but receive nothing. The entire chain is waiting on this and they are risking the entire sale. Don't even think about using them!!

Although I haven't felt the need yet to contact GMAC with regards to mortgage payments or anything like that, I have found that when I needed documentation, it was sent straight away, meaning no real waiting around, other than for requesting items to come through the post.

They have no concept of customer service. I have a construction loan, and my builder will never work with a client who has GMAC again. The way they do business slows down the building time, and I've had to get two loan extensions because of it. I have tried to tell them I am unhappy, and they really don't seem to care.

There are plenty of mortgage lenders out there who have great customer service. GMAC is not one of them. They are too corporate, and don't seem to care about keeping customers ...

I am unable to contact anybody at Gmac Mortgages. Every number you ring will give another number to ring. It will take at least 45 minutes until you actually speak to anybody, and then you don't always get the right answer to your enquiry.
Never again will I choose this company or recommend them to anybody else.

The website has the wrong telephone number, and the advisers have no idea what they are talking about.

GMAC Mortgages / ditech.com is the worst company I have ever dealt with. It took from April 2005 until the end of September 2005 to close on our mortgage. They sent out three sets of loan documents that were incorrect. I am so dissatisfied with them, that I am refinancing with another company. Now I'm trying to get my payoff, and they are telling me that I need to send them my loan documents so they can figure out how much I owe them. I am turning it into the Better Business Bureau and contact ...

Gmac mortgages are a terrible company to deal with. I spent an hour on the phone to them just to talk to a loan officer, and I entered my account number 15 times (counted) by being transferred at least 20 times.

I am about to transfer my loan from this company.

Talking to them is a nightmare.

I am a real estate investor, and Gmac Mortgages is the worst mortgage company I have ever dealt with! They bought my loan from another company, and have been calling me to collect on payment they have received ever since. Every month I go around and around with them, prove to them that they have my money, and then they call me again the following month.

Also, rather than actually call me, they have an automated system that calls, leaves a message to call back without saying who's calling, ...

I have a Gmac mortgage, and it took us 7 months to buy our house. Everything they could possibly do to prevent us from buying our dream house they did. We have stupid amounts to pay each month, and to get out of the mortgage you have a hefty fine; ours is over £7000. We are in the process of looking for a new lender now.

My husband and I had to live apart for 3 months so he could still work thanks to Gmac. It is the worst experience I have ever had in my life.

I've suffered at the hands of Gmac Mortgages, and if you talk to most Estate Agents or Conveyancing solicitors, so have they. They provide a mortgage offer and then find lots of reasons not to provide it in a timely fashion. At the point of writing GMAC's inept bureaucracy is about to cost two families the homes of their dreams. My advice, go somewhere else for a mortgage, these guys aren't worth the stress.
