I was reading these reviews last night bricking myself that we had made the wrong decision choosing The Woolwich! Our story is five weeks ago we started our application with Nationwide who made the whole process ridiculous. They would process one piece of paperwork a day and if this threw up a query instead of calling us for an answer to the question, we would then go back in the pile and have to wait another 24 hours to get looked at again. The most ignorant service I've ever used. They sent my aplication ,and next day money for morgage fee and survey has been taken from my account, then 3 weeks later I found out that my aplication is not accepted yet. How the hell they can charge me for morgage fee while i have no morgage accepted yet? I got an AIP on July 17th. All the legal side has been sorted out. Over 3 months later, I am still waiting for my mtg offer. I have to vacate my rented house on 7th November. Mtg advsr has been chasing them, but says they do not understand what he's talking about. This was supposed to be reviewed and offered last Fri. It wasn't. They then said Tues. I was previously with ING who were absolutely brilliant and they got taken over by Barclays- Have been into branches to schedule an appt and it has been 3 weeks and counting and nobody has got back to me. “Outstanding Service and Speed”

Having been let down quite severely by Nationwide Mortgages, our broker was able to find us a better deal through Woolwich (things happen for a reason as they say…). Firstly, Woolwich accept scanned documentation which was perfect for us as we work full time. First let me tell you that I am a fully qualified mortgage advisor and have worked independent up to 16 months ago. Having initially taken out a mortgage in 2003 with thd Woolwich, I applied for a further advance, I owe £80000 on a house which they valued at £220000 after initially telling me I wouldn't need a survey so it was less than 40% LTV and I wanted to borrow an extra £15000 so still 40 odd % LTV. “sham mortgages”

Ridiculously terrible service, mortgage was arranged survey came back and then they would not lend at all. And that was the end of that, no retainer, no arguing or re-evaluation case closed. Mortgage advisor was clueless and more or less lied to keep our hopes up. No communication at all and their trackit online service never updated from day one. Provided all information immediately have a large depoist and small loan to value and excellent credit rating, no debts CCJ's etc. I really do not know what is taking so long. The entire Mortgage Process has been terrible from start to finish. I have been lied to by call centre staff and promised things would be done which turn out to be false and find out staff haven't even actioned by requests. It's not right for the customer to be chasing up mistakes made by staff members. I also had to request to view my valuation report as I never received details on how to view this myself. I have been trying to get an appointment with a mortgage specialist now for 3 months to discuss my mortgage and the rate. Every time you speak with the call centre you get a different story they have been completely thrown by the new regulations despite having been given 18 months notice of the changes. They are arrogant, they, at best, don't tell the truth and the staff appear to be poorly trained and are inefficient. I wish I had listened to others! Truely awful experience. When taking the appointment with our adviser at Barclays, I had explained that we only had our offer excepted if we moved fast! The seller did have another cash offer so we needed to move in 6-8 week.) I was assured that there was no reason why the mortgage wouldnt be offered to meet the 8 week move in date. I took out my original Woolwich mortgage over 7 years ago. I dealt with an in-brand adviser, who appeared friendly and knowledgeable. The process was easy and uncomplicated. About 3 months ago when it came to house move time i thought I'd continue with Woolwich to keep things easy and simple. HOW WRONG WAS I ! Try getting a personal in-branch adviser these days! I had a mortgage appointment yesterday having waited 2 weeks, I emailed over a week ago to tell the advisor that I worked as a contractor via a ltd company. I had no reply. “Slow Painful Process”

I orginally applied for this mortgage on the 30th of April and here we are a whole month later and they have still not instructed a valuation. Everytime I call up I am told it will be done within 24 hours. The whole process has been slow and painful with them asking for repeat information and excessive copies of ID ect. Not happy. Been a customer for 12 years and have an almost perfect credit score. Mortgage in principle offered even with new mortgage lending changes. offer accepted on house so final bit of paperwork sent off to me to sign. text to say survey had been arranged but then phone call to say they wont lend as they had turned me down for a barlcaycard over 7 year ago.
