Good Points: None we can think of.
Bad Points: So slow that someone else has now bought the house we were purchasing. Very expensive survey which was inaccurate and unfinished. Poorest customer service and communication we have ever encountered.
General comments: We applied 4 weeks ago for a mortgage with the Woolwich and have been held up in an endless, brainless process ever since. They say they will call back but nobody does, you have to phone Mumbai to request to speak with an underwriter but they to date have never phoned back either. There is no communication between departments and their criteria change according to who you speak to on a particular day, who is always new to the case and knows nothing about it.

Woolwich was a great organisation until it was taken over. I agreed an end of term renewal rate of 5.49% for 3 years. Later that day they called me back saying the rate would only be valid if I get the forms back to them within 1 working day, however they have no idea when they will send the forms out. I asked if they could fax or email the forms and they said they did not have the facility. The forms never arrived. Now they want to offer me a higher rate.- Read ncollier's review (91 words)

I have a fixed term mortgage with Woolwich that I am trying to 'port' to a new house. I was assured that this was quicker and easier than going to a new company.
That was 5 weeks ago, 2 applications later, they lost the first, they keep changing the rules and stating that they need more and more information before they can process it, but they never write to you to tell you that they need it.
Call centre is based abroad and they have trouble understanding you when you call with a simple enqui ...- Read Fiona Davies's review (145 words)

I have waited over 8 weeks for a reply from Woolwich, which is unacceptable. I will be using another mortgage firm. I got a reply within a week from another company and at a better interest rate. Good luck to anybody else who tries to apply for a mortgage through Woolwich. You might have to wait a lifetime for a reply.- Read Guest's review (98 words)

Do not under any circumstances try to call them, the average wait for them to answer calls is 40 minutes!! You are told what number you are in the queue but the speed at which you go down the numbers to 1 is so slow I am convinced that there is only 1 person answering the phone! I called the other evening at 17.25 it took me 6 minutes to get through the press 1 for this and 2 for that, then I got to the music which I listened to for 10 minutes before I had to hang up to answer the door, when I ...- Read Annik's review (162 words)

Woolwich mortgages have charges of £275 (final repayment charge) and £35.25 for a telegraphic transfer. These are fixed charges. When I asked them if there were any charges in addition to the £595 arrangement fee during my application, they insisted that there were none.- Read blockhead1's review (52 words)
