Card is blocked every time we go away and we spend the precious little time we should be relaxing oh holiday, on the phone to our bank! This is despite having repeated the process the week before departure to tell them we're going away, what the dates are, where we're going, and which cards we are taking. I actually (after another 45 minute call this evening) managed to establish with their staff, that even if we log all of our travel arrangements with them, there is still a good chance... (read more)

Me and my wife run a small shop and mail order business, we use or at least try to use our TSB business debit card to pay for stock, but find the card is repeatedly being stopped, we order from suppliers on a daily basis have done now for the last 3 or 4 years, we try to pay for all incoming items before they are dispatched so as not to run up huge bills through the course of a month, over the past 3 months our suppliers seem to be having trouble taking money, when we call the bank they say... In the last couple of years, Lloyds have habitually declined my card transactions for no apparent reason! If I stick just to going to the local Sainsbury's, they let it through OK; but anything else seems to be classified as 'suspicious'. Consequently, I end up making lots of expensive phone calls trying to persuade their hopelessly inefficient and unhelpful 'Helpline' to let me buy something . . . (read more)

Having had my card declined again I feel compelled to write a review of this atrocious bank. Their customer service, aggressive selling of loans and credit cards every time I go into a branch, poor internet banking and "security" are a disgrace.
Apparently trying to book tickets through 2 different sites is "suspicious behaviour".
I tried to book tickets through SNCF as their system is slightly ahead of Eurostar.
When the payment was declined I assumed the site was at fault and tried again... (read more)

When i opened my account, they failed to tell me that my card could only be used in Lloyds cash machines. I didn't find out til I had gone to departures in the airport and tried to withdraw money from the cash machine and it refused me. No shops did cash back and I even tried to buy forign currency on my card from the exchange counter but to no avail. Rang Llyods crying my eyes out telling them I was about to board a plane and had no oney to be told I needed to sign something that will... (read more)

If you use you Lloyds Visa debit card to buy Euros from an exchange in the UK. Visa will deem this to be a "foreign transaction" and impose 1.5% charge with a maximum of £4.50.
Apparently this is somewhere in the small print (still looking).
I thought using a debit card in the UK was just like paying cash or cheque.
You have been warned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (read more)

I have the same problem with my Lloyds Tsb debit card. It has cost me a fortune in phone calls, wasted time, embarrassing situations stranded at check-outs and having to phone. It is unbelievable that they persist with what is OBVIOUSLY a stupid system. While they are stopping every transaction their customers make they keep sending mail for a lodger who has gone back to his country and still SUCCESSFULLY using his debit card which has no money in it. They are wasting more money sending... (read more)

Anyone travelling abroad and planning to use a Lloyds TSB Debit card should think again - their automatic security system will block pretty much any transaction you try and make! I was living in Australia for several months and had to call the fraud center about 10 times. I specifically asked staff in the UK before I left about using my card overseas and was assured that this would not be a problem - unfortunately this turned out to be untrue. On one occasion the fraud center asked me a... (read more)

This card is useless if you spend any time abroad. Lloyds do "random" (regular) fraud checks which means that your card is frozen until you call them. As I work abroad (& repeatedly tell them that I do) it costs a fortune in calls every couple of weeks, not to mention the amount of times I've been left in a supermarket unable to pay or without cash from an ATM. When I do speak to them I feel that they have no idea what they're talking about. I am now closing my account with them. Avoid at... (read more)

When I purchased a car for nearly £19,000 using a lloyds VISA debit card, i was unaware that when i found out the car was a stolen ringer that lloyds would refuse to help me in any way to get my money back. At first they even denied that the chargeback scheme to protect purchases even existed.
I would not reccomend using lloyds generally and a lloyds Visa debit card specifically. I am still waiting to get my money back. (read more)

Lloyds TSB have started randomly stopping my card with no notification to me whatsoever under the guise of "Fraud checks". They give me many different stories ("It's using the card at a garage", "It's using Sainsburys", "It's using paypal". I've asked them to write to me several times over the last few months but they've ignored me everytime. You try finding an address to write to on their website!!! Steer clear. (read more)

I was charged twice for item on card. I wrote to their Andover Customer Services in July 07 - prompt acknowledgement with standard response of saying "expect to complete enquiries in next 4 weeks", after which they wrote another standard letter saying a "further 4 weeks". Further 4 weeks later still another letter asking me "to bear with us for a little". 10 days later Andover say they are referring it to Manchester "who will be contacting you shortly" It's late September now! A month later... (read more)

The biggest problem is it seems to be a easy way for the bank to "overload" your account with charges. I have since found out by using my account that they will let you go over your agreed borrowing limit as much as you like without you actually knowing this. (read more)
