At end of holiday in Ireland my motor caravan wouldn't start because of a flat battery. Phone call to Saga who at first could not raise anyone at the International Breakdown Centre in Lyon. The very helpful lady said that, to avoid me hanging on, she would arrange for them to call me as soon as she could get a response. They did this within around 15 mins. “French Breakdown”

Headed for the ferry with the grandchildren on board and the engine goes bang. Rang Saga Breakdown the lady call handler was brilliant took details and then passed me to european call centre.They arranged for a local firm to pick us up off the main Nantes to Rennes dual-carriage way. Quoted an hour and half but turned up with in half an hour taken to local depot. “Broke down in France”

We went to use our car on Saturday whilst on holiday in France, the Power steering had gone so we were unable to move the car, we called Saga breakdown and within 40 minutes the car was taken away from our very remote holiday home, even though it was a bank holiday weekend, We were offered a hire car but the only one Saga could find was miles away, being a bank holiday, we advised we were happy to wait until Tuesday, on Tuesday morning we had a call saying our car had been taken to Hyundai main… Read Full Review

“breakdown in germany, very good service given”

broke down outside campsite in middle of black forest in germany. rather worried as seemed in middle of nowhere. phoned saga b/down european number and polite perfect english frenchman took details and said would get someone out straight way...made me feel a lot better as he professional in attitude and i felt secure. adac ( european equivilant aa/ rac) attended and said starter motor gone. saga arranged for tow to nearest fiat garage. arrived 10mins before appointed time, very respectful of… Read Full Review

“Appaling Recovery Service”

Reported problem to Saga 11.30am. Told somone would be with me 12.50. Got text saying delayed & would be 13.05, came 13.30 (2 hrs in total). AA man looked at my car & said I needed recovery. He reported it in at 2pm & I was told about 4pm. Received a text from Saga saying 15.35pm. I arranged with my local garage, 1 hr away, to get it to them before 5.30pm, when they closed so I could leave car & get courtesy car for work next day. “I'm actually an AA member, it's my parents that are...”

I'm actually an AA member, it's my parents that are with Saga, but this is my experience of Saga when I was out with them last night.

We broke down after 23:00 last night in a rather bad area. Due to the nature of the breakdown we needed a recovery truck only to be told it could (not would) take up to 3 hours. No updates from Saga at all until we called after 2 hours. “I phoned and explained my car problem to a nice polite...”

I phoned and explained my car problem to a nice polite lady on the phone at Saga who told me someone would be there in just over 1 hour. At the end of that hour I had a phone call to tell me that the AA had handed my call to another firm who would be coming in 15 minutes. I then had a text message after 15 minutes telling me someone would be there in another 30 minutes! The chap who turned up was not a mechanic. “I am a Member of Saga who currently use the AA for...”

I am a Member of Saga who currently use the AA for Breakdown Recovery. This is my 1st year with them - Not impressed. Although attendance was very rapid,the Patrolman failed to issue an attendance report - Non Compliance. He recommended a local Garage which I later discovered charged double the cost of other Garages - Snapped wire to the alternator on a basic Ford Ka. Total cost £92.00!! Are you aware that at renewal this year you will be serviced by the awful AA patrols? Are you aware that at this years renewal your premium will be the same but not next year? I have just been invited to renew at £118 for personal cover any car at the top service level but told that next year it will be £269.60… Read Full Review

<br/>I am also with Saga but had occasion to call out the Breakdown Service. The AA attended. They messed up from start to finish. From the AA Patrol's chat up line to not being issued with an attendance report to being overcharged doubla at a garage

I am with Saga this year who use the AA. I had occasion to call Saga when my car broke down. From the unprofessional chat up line of the Patrolman to recommending a Garage that charged me double, to the attendance report that was not issued, to The Customer Services Department at the AA who really couldn't care about the service provided.I complained to Saga who I pay my premiums to. They couldn't care less and just advised me to contact The AA. Not acceptable!!!!!

I have waited over an hour twice for roadside assistance while I've been using Saga Comprehensive Plus Breakdown Cover; the worse case being a puncture on the M4 - I told the operator I was a female driving alone - but it took an hour and a quarter for anyone to turn up - and despite writing to Saga Customer Services, not a single word came my way. Definitely would not renew policy with them on principle! They are about £20 cheaper than most for the all singing, all dancing home start, relay… Read Full Review
