Good Points: One single bill
General comments: After 2 1/2 yrs my step father is cancelling and moving to another broadband provider.
Constant disconnects and had 3 instances of no broadband for 2 weeks at a time with NO communication in response to calls or emails it seems therefore we no longer recommend the Utility Warehouse Discount Club, not as competitive on price as they were.

I have been experiencing variable (mostly poor) broadband speeds for a couple of months and decided to measure the performance (it's supposed to be 2Mbps). We are only a few hundred yards from the exchange and to ensure I wasn't locked on a poor connection I rebooted the router between tests. Results were as follows:
24/06/08 21.22 - 50Kbps download, 193Kbps upload
Rebooted router
24/06/08 21.31 - 80Kbps download, 196Kbps upload
Rebooted router
24/06/08 21.38 - Download was so slow the test too ...

It not worth trying to save a few pounds a month switching to The Utility Warehouse Discount Club in my experience, firstly you wont be saving anything, in fact it works out a whole load more.
They have a billing system whereby on paper they add all your bills into one bill, you pay a set amount which looks like you're getting a good deal. But as far as I am concerned I was not trust me I am a computer analyst and I study patterns, numbers and code for a living, I am not going to bore you with ...

Because uwclub's pricing had become so uncompetitive (twice the price of alternatives, and with a slower broadband speed) in my opinion, I chose to close my uwclub account and move to Talk Talk. To do this, I needed a Migration Authorisation Code (MAC) from uwclub - and they were obstructive for more than a week, stooping so low as to provide me with two false MAC numbers which would not work when I tried to set-up my Talk Talk account as far as I am concerned. I also personally feel mislead abo ...

I have been with the utility warehouse for years as I havent been able to get out of the contract they have not yet told me when the term ends and normally give me the wrong fate and information on how to find the contract!
Don't recommend because they are not cheap in my opinion.

Utility Warehouse was sold to me on the basis of it being less money per month than any other provider. But if you frequently can't get internet access or sometimes can't retrieve emails, what's the point of paying less? The help desk and tech support are a joke. When I phoned them to cancel my internet and phone, I asked for the MAC code. The assistant said I didn't need one as I was on a LLU exchange. I said that O2 needed a MAC code to transfer the service across - he was adamant that I didn' ...

I was introduced to this company by one of there many representatives who, in effect, guided me through any of the problems i raised on a one to one basis; this i found to be invaluable and felt that it gave me a sense of satisfaction as i had the very same person who signed me up would get in touch with CS on my behalf and champion my cause. This took a great weight of my shoulders and left me feeling like i really was getting great value for my money and cost effective services too. i continue ...

They have kept me waiting on several occasions when I needed to make changes to my account or to cancell services. When you are calling a 0871 number this can be expensive.

The connection kept dropping and refusing to re-connect. The only way to contact them about broadband problems is through a 75p-a-minute helpline. Whenever I got locked out of the exchange (which was happening about once a month), I had to spend about £10 on this helpline, being run through the same 'what's your setup-do this-do that-do the other-try restarting-try something else-OK, if it's not our fault it will cost you' routine.
They gave me MAC code and promptly cut me off, leaving ...

DON'T GO THERE EVEN IF IT IS CHEAP They depend on other companies, such as opal and mistral to operate and therefore do not have control over their own operation.

The main benefit I have found with The Utility Warehouse Discount Club is the ability to talk to, or meet face to face with my local representative when anything is unclear, or if I find the customer service telephone support has left me not quite sorted. My local guy is great, and he is very knowledgeable and helpful.

For all those reviewers who claim they are getting "unlimited" broadband from The Utility Warehouse, think again. I was with them for a month, "unlimited", and they cancelled my contract for contravening their "fair-use" policy. No alternatives given, just, "Goodbye!".
So, I cancelled my home phone, gas and electric supplied by them, as you would, but since then, have been getting bills for these services every month for 3 months, in spite of signing up with alternative suppliers.
I cann ...

When I first signed up to UWclub I had problem with disconnections, after 3-4 weeks I was told that they had a new company providing broadband for them, they was called Mistral. Ever since, I have had nothing but problems with their email system. I am always getting errors, sometimes it will not let me log in and even when I am logged in, I still get error messages like, server cannot be found. Also there anti-spam is rubbish, They actually lost an important email of mine, because the link to re ...

The Utility Warehouse Discount Club (www.paycheapbills.co.uk) is the worst ISP I have come across. The price you see on the signing-up page is not the price you pay. You will pay about another £4 a month and not find out until it is to late. You lose your connection and not get back on line. This broadband connection is slower than dial-up at times and is so slow you have to come offline. They have also taken money out of my bank account they are not entitled to.
