“This MA Audio MA120D6 car speaker was originally meant...”

This MA Audio MA120D6 car speaker was originally meant to be a different model, but I purchased these instead and do not regret it (most of the time*). The sound quality provided by these speakers is of average+ class. It isn't really muddy, but there is some room for improvement. This aspect is of little importance in a car, but as I use this for HT, distortions are more audible and higher quality of performance is expected than that of a car environment.

Free-air, they do about 2" of excursion (peak to peak) before clanging against the backplate of the speaker motor. I'm sure not all of this is linear travel, but it does allow for some potential.

The power rating of 400W RMS is good for a 12" speaker, though not insanely high. Efficiency is more important than power handling, but a higher power handling is definately welcome.

*Sometimes I regret this model's purchase because I have a habit of sending ~1000W RMS to a pair meant for no more than 800W RMS. They tend to dislike that at times.
