Good Points: I liked The Ring. I thought it was really cool and a great idea. Ring 2 isn't bad but I don't think it lives up to the first. I would say it's not as bad as most people have been saying. To give an idea, I will tell you why I liked the first movie, first, it was actually a horror movie unlike all these gore films coming out that don't have the conventions of a traditional horror movie, it had a interesting detective side to it, Rachel was looking for information about the events happening. The Ring Two is entertaining but that's about it, so if that's all you're looking for then go for it.
Bad Points: In The Ring Two, there doesn't seem to be that much of an investigation, there are the aspects of horror that are in the first but its more discovery than investigation. I think this film had potential to be a really good film, but, to be honest, it's not really good. It lacks nearly everything that made the first film good, to be honest the it's just not scary. It seems the directors and producers just wanted to make a sequel for the money. The Ring had a certain creepy feel to it; The Ring Two doesn't have this. I think the reason why I liked the first film was because it left you asking questions, this film tries to answer these questions but none with satisfaction. Therefore I have decided that to make The Ring the best as it should be they should have just left it at the first. The questions you would be asking after The Ring would be better unanswered. The Ring Two is definitely a disappointment, but it's not all that bad, it does entertain.
General comments: The Ring Two is of course the sequel to The Ring. The eerie video tape. The deep history of Samara and her family. The mysterious deaths. And of course the infamous phone call warning which everyone remembers.
I think the reason why this film has so many bad ratings is because there was nothing left for the Ring Two to do. The Ring was proving to be the one of the most anticipated thrillers in my opinion. I was really disappointed to find that the Ring Two simply shouldn't have been made.
Everything in the Ring Two had been in other movies, the first was something different but still a horror movie. I'm coming back to the questions that you are left with after the first here, The Ring Two dangerously ruins the mystery behind the whole story.
Therefore I can only say after all this if you are just looking for the entertainment and couldn't give a monkey's what happens to any of them, then sure, go watch it. Everyone else who relates to what I'm trying to say should just watch the Ring One, get scared and burn every copy of the Ring Two.
