I have been a customer for 13 years but am not going to renew because they removed the SFTP applet that made it so easy for file transfer. According to their support page, you can download Filezilla, WinSCP, or WS FTP. (They changed this from JScape recently). Either way it is now a lot of detailed extra time and work in what is supposed to be, and was or still is advertised as part of your paid account. Yet when you check the main page for web hosting under "easy hosting manager" they still show an icon for SFTP applet when it is really deprecated. Whether Filezilla or Jscape, those can be laden with virus, and they may not be uninstalled easily. It is a great disservice for me as a website designer and DIY owner of multiple webpages and including a Wordpress site, that they removed the SFTP applet and there is no easy way anymore for downloading and transferring files from my own domains. They do respond to what looks good for the public relations, but the support is generally pretty superficial. I don't expect that they are going to change, and that for what I pay for the services have been actually reducing over time because they refuse to keep up to date with today's hostservers which offer CPanel, MultiPHP, Wordpress Staging and testing. Just compare the SFTP instructions from Bravenet's Wiki page with Hostinger's whose FTP instructions are clear, specific, and customized.

Bravenet has been an excellent experience for me and their customer service is excellent as well. I have over 30 website clients that either I host with Bravenet or have their own Bravenet accounts. The sitebuilder could use a few more options such as links on a slide show image and the option to add "alt" text to slide show images, but for the most part it's easy to use and easy to modify. I have had a few special requests to alter the css of templates I have worked with and tech support even wrote some code for me to use & it worked great. Some techs are better than others, but for the most part, I have been very happy with Bravenet.

I have been with Bravenet for 10 years, and I can't figure out why I did not leave sooner. Their support is attrocious, eg. I recently submitted a support ticket and had wait 3 days for a reply(they don't work on weekends) only to be told that they do not offer advice on the issue in question. They then suggested that I go to Wordpress, which I did! When it comes to support, with Bravenet, you are on your own! They will gladly take your money every year, but are light on service provision and customer satisfaction.

I've been with Bravenet for a few years now. They are cheap but they were reliable. Some of their tools are OK but many are worthless, particularly their site search tool. Last month my FTP upload speeds for large files would top out at 150Kb/s with a max of 5 connections. They said that unless I purchased a whole server that was the limit. Now the upload speeds are 8 to 30KB/s. This is completely unacceptable.

Bravenet is very good and helpful for those starting out online. I would definitely recommend using it. Especially since it requires little or no monetary investment. Sure, it has some flaws, but NO service is perfect.

I have not been happy with Bravenet since I signed up with them. It took a week to get them to figured out what I needed in order to transfer my account to them. I had no phone number to contact them direct so couldn't explain the answer and they were not reading the propblems correctly.
Now I have a premium hosting package with them when they did the fixes they deleted my premium account and I just lost 299.00.

I feel Bravehost is really enlightened with offering their free services. They are also reliable. Most hosting I have tried elsewhere has gone smoothly until a problem came up. Bravehost deals with problems efficiently and has good customer service.
Advertising is how they are able to offer hosting for free. Paid hosting has no adverts.

In my opinion very unhelpful customer service. Try finding a phone number for them. Try getting a response to a support ticket. Try waiting for a week for a stupid verification email so you can renew your domain registration that shouldn't have expired in the first place.
I do not recommend Bravenet.com!

Six help tickets sent, only one reply: no such user. I replied with a copy/paste of my accounts with Bravenet, including the charges and dates. No reply to that.

I would recommend Bravenet to a friend that needs to be able to build a site that would be easy. From the good use of their site builder.

I've been with Bravenet since 2000. I should have left earlier than now but I know
they've been going through a lot of ugly stuff especially in the domain area.
It's now been 10 days since I've requested a domain transfer of 2 of my domains. When they finally admitted they were wrong, they sent me the wrong EPP authorization code.
So then I asked them to help me to point the dns nameservers in another direction. I tried from my control panel but it's not working. Still no answer.
I feel like Bravenet is holding me captive. I've had to loose money on my web design business because of all of this. THIS IS ALL THE GOSH TRUTH AND I HAVE DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE IT ALL.

Bravenet, based in Canada I believe, offer paid web hosting packages and an absolutely cracking free web hosting service. I have a .co.uk domain name that is currently hosted and parked by the giant VERIO organisation, at a price! (but superb service). I currently use a free facility at BRAVENET but really they are so good I shall be purchasing something off them soon.
Bravenet give you Photo Albums, their unbeatable Guestbook/Forum (I also have two with VoyForums), counter facilities, poll facilities etc. (too numerous to list all).
To build your FREE website they offer you a nice selection of templates. You can also build in HTML if you so wish.
The free service is funded NOT by annoying pop-ups, but by banners (a bit like VoyForums), so you are not constantly striking 'X' every few seconds!
I've not actually paid for anything from Bravenet yet, but I will give them 10/10 for value on what I've seen on offer.

Well it took me long enough to actually BUY something off Bravenet.
<br>
<br>The basic hosting package and domain name for a year worked out at around £44GBP. Please note that when Bravenet advertise in dollars they are not advertising in Canadian dollars but US dollars. Anyway, still a bargain.
<br>
<br>Uptime is excellent. E-mail service is excellent. Plus easy to use filing, URL redirecting etc.
<br>
<br>I guess I have to say these folks in Canada are offering a top class service.

Hi. I am from the UK. I Have a site hosted by Bravenet. I think they are very good, I had a free site at first, then upgraded to their basic package with the minimum amount of fuss, up and running in just a few hours.

Wow, I have hosted several websites with them over the past 15 years and have had excellent customer service. Not sure what your issue was.
