“Was a but nervous after reading previous reviews, no need!”

I ordered a sewing machine online and selected click and collect delivery, thinking that I'd be able to pick it up in store the following day as I'd seen that they had stock in store when I was there a few days ago. Unfortunately when I got my confirmation it stated it would be delivered to the store in the next 3-5 days. As I was heading off on holiday at the end of the week I panicked that I wouldn't be able to collect it! Went into the store and they had plenty of stock of the sewing machine (apparently the online stock system is separate to the store system)and when i explained to the nice lady she said to buy it in store and then ring customer services and ask them to stop processing the order, she even re-added the 15% off offer I got when I signed up to the newsletter when I bought it online. Got home and rang the customer service line, they answered quickly and we're very friendly, order cancelled and should expect a refund. So although it was slight convoluted and the system was not as joined up as I would like it to be, currently I've paid twice until my refund is issued, it was all dealt with quickly and professionally and I got to take home my sewing machine before my holiday...so I'm overall pleased with the service but think there could be work to be done to perfect it.

“Price at till”

★★★☆☆

written by DayanaraForbes on 23/12/2014

Buyer Beware. Should you purchase an item that has been reduced in price the till's have not been updated to reflect the reduction and you get charged the normal price. ALWAYS check your receipt before leaving the checkout. Also be aware that the checkout staff will argue that you are WRONG and the till is right. I have been caught several times, so I reluctently use Hobbycraft now

“mmmm....”

I love shopping at hobbycraft online however a recent experience has put me off, although the response was extremely friendly and helpful via customer services I have yet to receive the £5 gift voucher they were sending me as an apology and that was almost a month ago. I know things go amiss but its disappointing. I have found I would rather go shop in store than online now which is a pain as i like to keep track of my basket and look at my stash at home for coordinating items. I may try again another time.

“Could do better...”

★★★☆☆

written by Ellasgran on 31/08/2013

I've used the Romford store for at least three years and think that the new layout is much better especially the signage but............. Range cutbacks - I'm disappointed that the range of card blanks and especially aperture cards has been cut back a lot during this time. I also disappointed that the peel off stickers that I use have also been cut back. Help - While I appreciate that staff costs have to be kept down, it is almost impossible to find a member of staff if you have a query other than going to the check out staff. This morning I saw a Dad and his son wandering around for some minutes before they found someone to ask. Why can't someone be on hand to offer help? One last gripe - I don't like taking any items that need measuring and cutting e g ribbon back to the checkout and in Romford this means returning from the first floor to the ground floor - which probably means that it will be some time before the product is returned to stock and available to other customers. Hobbycraft is great for anyone planning a wedding, kids' crafts and for beginners in almost any craft. But otherwise, you'd be better looking at what is available online from other sources.

“so much stuff”

★★★☆☆

written by on 22/08/2013

A lovely environment; spent ages browsing. Was in the mood for crocheting and although there was a great supply of wool/cotton I struggled to find a handful of crochet patterns. I would like to suggest that this is addressed and also to have a section for crochet as it took ages to look through all the knitting patterns. If I did not have much time for shopping I would bypass hobbycraft as at present I know I couldn't go in and find what I was looking for in ten minutes. Please can you sort this to have a happier customer.. Must say that staff were very pleasant.

“/Over priced”

★★★☆☆

written by sylvester33 on 12/06/2013

Visited HobbyCraft Chingford. Shop well laid out, easy to find goods and staff excellent, but it was the high prices that put me off. I would have thought with your buying power you could discount the goods. I spend a lot of money on Card craft..paper, card, dies, machines etc and only usually buy on - line where I can easily get large discounts and no postage charges. Cannot believe you are asking £1 for peeloffs when they are available for 20- 30p each anywhere. Would have to be desparate to visit on a regular basis. paper craft lins were too expensive compared with elsewhere.

“Disappointing visit ”

★★★☆☆

written by jessiedebbie on 08/06/2013

just visited my local hobbycraft at Deepdale,Preston-as my hobby is knitting and cross stitch that is where I headed to .The cross stitch section was disappointing to say the least and I noticed the decline of this section over the last few months -no new kits at all and it look like a jumble sale . The wool section was slightly better but still looked like it could do with a good clean and tidying up.Maybe now is the time to try on line !! Hobbycraft seem to be moving towards cake making and yuppy crafts since they changed their image -everything now seems to be pre-packed and expensive .

“They Don't Answer Their Contact Form”

★★★☆☆

written by Montecarlolou on 18/10/2012

And the postage and packing isn't always proportionate. Two balls of wool at £3.18 shouldn't cost £3.95 to post! Why do they not have a deliver to store option?? I like them on the whole, but my goodness when they ran out of the wool I had bought only a month earlier I got fobbed off time and time again with the newer (WRONG) value wool! Different wool, as well as colour. I wasted a lot of fuel and time going to my West End store. I emailed through their contact form, twice, and not once have they bothered to answer. Big disappointment; I was one of their biggest fans till now. I think, if they were on the verge of stopping a range (which incidentally is still on their website) then they should put notices up to warn people.

“I have been to hobbycraft many times before. I...”

★★★☆☆

written by ilikesilver on 05/02/2011

I have been to hobbycraft many times before. I recomend this superstore for arts and crafts.

Hobbycraft have provided my family many quality art equipment and we are satisfied most of the time. When I purchased some drawing equipment 3 months ago, the pencils were durable and great, and they are still in my pencil pot today.

However, the items I purchased were quite over priced and, I remember buying a pack of 12 derwent academy pencils, which costed £12! Even a pod of skin toned-pencils were £6! I was not particulary pleased with the prices they have. If you want to buy stuff from here, make sure you have at least £20.

Anyways, they have some great equipment stuff there, but they SERIOUSLY need to cut down the prices.
