This is the worst company I've ever dealt with. Bought a new BOSCH SMS58E22GB dishwasher on 12th January with delivery for 17th Jan. Machine arrived damaged and couldn't be installed - taken away. Phoned Currys and told new machine would be ordered. On 20th January got a call saying a truck was outside my house wanting to pick up the new damaged machine which was never delivered. I purchased a TV with a built in DVD player from Currys for my daughter for Christmas. The TV developed a fault when DVD's were playing the screen would freeze for a few seconds then restart by itself. I took the TV back to the store I purchased it from (only 2 weeks after purchase)to be told that they would not exchange or refund the product until they had proved the TV had a fault. I must admit when I ordered my goods from Currys, I thought I was using a reputable company - thus said, I was wrong. Ordered a tumble dryer via click and collect. went to Gateshead shop following day. took ages to be served, paid with my debit card then informed they didn't have it in stock. Most unhelpful choosing a replacement so they re-credited my card and informed would take 3-5 working days for my funds to be back in my account. “Not very professional, rushing my installation to get...”

18th December 2014, two men from KnowHow turned up to install my gas hob. They were early so no complaints there 4:30 - 8:30pm time slot. That's where the positives end. I left them to it there was shouting 'don't drop it', crashing about, bickering amongst themselves and loud singing, probably to disguise the bickering.. Unprofessional. “Broken Promises”

We ordered a fridge on the 21st Dec and received a delivery confirmation from Currys for 29th Dec. Here is a quote from the website. 'To save you the hassle, we'll take away and recycle your old appliance, along with any packaging when we deliver your new one.' Don't believe a word it. The lady told me that there were two at their Slough store. Although the drive from London would be around 1hour I decided to reserve the lap top and make the drive there on my day off. “If I could leave zero stars I would. Awful company”

I have two cautionary tales for anyone out there considering purchasing from these guys. Back in 2010 I purchased a Macbook pro on a finance contract. They tried to push to sell me their aftercare, which I wasn't interested in. The product did it's job, but it was around 2 and a half years later when a chance visit to my bank revealed that the very 'after care' I'd turned down and not put a single signature anywhere for had been charged to my account regardless. I can't help but wonder why, on your second purchase, you did not take the laptop back to Curry's and ask them to repair it by using your Statutory Rights?

You say: " ... and am now left struggling to find a way to get it repaired". Why would you be left facing the cost of repair when you didn't need to do?

Given the product failed to perform during the initial 12 months from date of purchase means that you SHOULD be able to ask for a full refund well within the Sales of Goods Act. If nothing else, then you are certainly entitled to a repair IF the problem lies within the realms of a considered problem but in any case Curry's ARE liable to put your laptop right under the Sales of Goods act.

What I don't understand, is where you say that you contacted the manufacturer in exercising your Rights when the best course of action would have been to take it right back to Curry's; your contract is with them as much as it is with Acer and Curry's.

Taking your first point into mind is (being charged for After-Care) is, of course, a terrible state of affairs and this should never have happened.

I purchased an oven and hob to replace our broken one from the Currys store at Lakeside. Having paid £120 to have the items installed I expected the people coming would live up to the companies logo of "Know How", wrong. I had already removed the drawers from the built in units to allow the fitters access to the electrics, trying to be helpful.
