“Waste of time”

Written on: 23/12/2014 by CesarEgan475 (1 review written)

Reserve item online to save a wasted journey to the Tamworth store only to be told they don't have it when you get there and I have wasted my time after all! Asda had the item a pound cheaper on the shelf so that's it for currys as far as I'm concerned… Read Full Review

“Awful delivery service.”

Written on: 19/12/2014 by Steve_Butler (1 review written)

Here is a quote from the website. 'To save you the hassle, we'll take away and recycle your old appliance, along with any packaging when we deliver your new one.' Don't believe a word it. It's all lies. After complaining to the delivery men they finally agreed to remove the old washing machine from the kitchen, they then dumped it in the front garden saying 'give to the scrappy'. Then they said they couldn't remove the packaging as there wasn't enough room on the van. What sort of excuse is… Read Full Review

“HORRENDOUS SERVICE!! ”

Written on: 14/12/2014

I called the central customer service number to find out which stores had the laptop I was looking for as it could only be purchased in store. The lady told me that there were two at their Slough store. Although the drive from London would be around 1hour I decided to reserve the lap top and make the drive there on my day off. The lady assured me the laptop was available in the store. I drove to the store that same day and was told that there laptop was not in stock as an error had been made… Read Full Review

“Total farce, worst online retailer I've eve dealt with”

Written on: 13/12/2014 by JSPAVINS (1 review written)

We ordered a dual fuel rand for our tenant to replace her broken old one and paid the extra £100 for installation. The range was delivered by two engineers, neither of which were qualified to install it ! The range had to go back and delivery rearranged for following Saturday. Kept getting texts from Knowhow asking why we cancelled order, texted back to say we hadn't. Eventually phoned them as I was concerned they had somehow cancelled the order. It turned out they had but had also resold our… Read Full Review

“JAY FROM AYLESBURY ”

Written on: 03/12/2014 by Whittakerrk1956 (1 review written)

Never had the best experience with Curry's. But there is one man in which I can call a friend there. After having problems with a laptop for months on end, he pulled out all the strings to make sure that we were happy. Even though we moaned and groaned he never showed any aggression back. Today we went in again, and once again he helped us within an instant. This man deserves a promotion. - J & N… Read Full Review

“NO STARS - Use AO instead.”

Written on: 01/12/2014 by Notorious79 (1 review written)

Ordered a kitchen appliance online using my iPhone, went through to the checkout and purchased the item. Got email confirmation through that it was being delivered to my previous address, which had been put as the billing address also. I hadn't put this, it had remembered it from an order a year ago. So I emailed them thinking it wouldn't be an issue to change it. Still waiting a reply to my email days later so I called them. Was on hold for ages, will see how much that cost when I get my bill… Read Full Review

“If I could leave zero stars I would. Awful company”

Written on: 27/11/2014

I have two cautionary tales for anyone out there considering purchasing from these guys. Back in 2010 I purchased a Macbook pro on a finance contract. They tried to push to sell me their aftercare, which I wasn't interested in. The product did it's job, but it was around 2 and a half years later when a chance visit to my bank revealed that the very 'after care' I'd turned down and not put a single signature anywhere for had been charged to my account regardless. This company had stolen nearly… Read Full Review

Oneseesinthedark's Comment

I can't help but wonder why, on your second purchase, you did not take the laptop back to Curry's and ask them to repair it by using your Statutory Rights?

You say: " ... and am now left struggling to find a way to get it repaired". Why would you be left facing the cost of repair when you didn't need to do?

Given the product failed to perform during the initial 12 months from date of purchase means that you SHOULD be able to ask for a full refund well within the Sales of Goods Act. If nothing else, then you are certainly entitled to a repair IF the problem lies within the realms of a considered problem but in any case Curry's ARE liable to put your laptop right under the Sales of Goods act.

What I don't understand, is where you say that you contacted the manufacturer in exercising your Rights when the best course of action would have been to take it right back to Curry's; your contract is with them as much as it is with Acer and Curry's.

Taking your first point into mind is (being charged for After-Care) is, of course, a terrible state of affairs and this should never have happened.

“Don't know how”

Written on: 26/11/2014

I purchased an oven and hob to replace our broken one from the Currys store at Lakeside. Having paid £120 to have the items installed I expected the people coming would live up to the companies logo of "Know How", wrong. I had already removed the drawers from the built in units to allow the fitters access to the electrics, trying to be helpful. When they arrived I pointed out in my mind as a matter of courtesy where the hob was plugged in and where the oven was wired too, my mistake. One of… Read Full Review

“worst delivery service ever!”

Written on: 22/11/2014 by Aaliyah422 (1 review written)

Took a day off work to wait for my delivery - a matress. It never turned up, even though I was sent a text to confirm and wait at home for delivery. No one from Knowhow contacted me, and it took a full week before my delivery turned up (I was left to sleep on the floor for 7 nights.) No compensation was offered, despite me complaining and the product was dirty when it finally arrived… Read Full Review

“DONT USE THIS COMPANY”

Ordered a fridge freezer for next day delivery, this turned out to be day after next delivery when order confirmed -due to not being in stock locally apparently. Day of delivery got a text stating between 3 and 7.30 so defrosted existing fridge , disconnected it and removed from cabinet as per currys terms for recycling. Fridge freezer didn't arrive so phoned customer service and was told driver had run out of hours and had to return to depot.LIES. Rearranged delivery for Friday, checked… Read Full Review

Words can not describe the total inadequacy moronikness of the inept call centre people when you are placing and order , enquiring about it or just trying to get information as to where the hell is my cooker as you have failed again to deliver it to my address despite me taking the day off work. “Buy do not purchase, turn around walk away!!!!!!!!!!”

Written on: 30/10/2014 by Somervilleox213 (1 review written)

I think you would agree a 21 birthday present is special especially for your own child. After months of saving we purchased a HP laptop to aid our daughter at university. We chose a computer with the help of the adviser at the Barnsley branch. We paid £389 and I asked if the computer recommended was cheaper if purchased online or was subject to a price review in the near future. Answer no: Sole £200 of useless software based on the salesmanship bundle tactics. Led to believe storage… Read Full Review

Yes useless, they should spend less on flashy ads and more on customer service.

I bought a washing machine from them and noticed that the clear plastic around the appliance had parcel tape in places, when I got it home and unwrapped it all became clear- it was a used machine.

I opened the loading door and was greeted with a very stale smell, looked around the back where the pipes are and these were filthy as was the soap drawer, I quickly took it back (expecting an apology or even a discount) for my inconvenience but instead I got the impression that they thought I was trying to "pull a fast one" and even suggested that there was nothing wrong with the machine but it was more like someone had already done the dirty on Curry's and they then tried to palm it off on me!!!

After arguing with the manager, I told them to refund me and I'll go next door in to Comet, he couldn't care less and said "you can buy from Comet if you so wish", so I did.

I wrote to curry's head office and they were equally useless, needless to say, I do not shop at Curry's any more, I now use Tesco and Argos and haven't looked back.

“Don't buy appliances from this company”

Written on: 25/09/2014 by Hamza418 (1 review written)

We had our fridge break recently and debated going to either john lewis or currys to replace it. The price range at currys seemed better so we decided to go with them. Bit of a mistake. The delivery we were told would happen within a couple if days. It was late by 3 days. Any other appliance would be ok. But a fridge missing with a toddler also. Nightmare. On arrival the fridge had a dent in the door. We have kept the fridge. A Samsung, with the intention to have it changed ASAP. Also as… Read Full Review

I have the same issue. Always had their extended insurance but until now never needed to claim. My wife dropped our tablet outside and the screen broke. Have paid the insurance by DD since purchase 18 months ago. Called their careline and they said 'yes it's covered, take it to nearest Currys/PC world and they will send it to us, if it cannot be fixed it will be replaced'.
Had a call from Currys 10 days later to say it could not be fixed and would not be replaced as they believe it was caused by 'neglect''.
I thought this was accident insurance and maybe 90% of accidents are neglect in some form.
Knowhow even quote ' We do not expect you to wrap you tablet in cotten wool. If it suffers a misshap, we will repair or replace'
Will never use Currys for anything anymore. Their insurance is not worth the paper it is written on.

“Driver with attitude....”

Written on: 17/09/2014 by Jimenezmu269 (1 review written)

Unbelievable. They say that employees are really ambassadors of the organisation that they work for. I have just recently purchased a washing machine from curry's and the confirmation would be it would be delivered at some point today (Monday). A nice early text arrived from Knowhow and the driver phoned 30 minutes before arrival. Parking across the neighbours driveway who was ready to reverse out to take the children to school, my neighbour asked politely if he could move, a few f's and poor… Read Full Review
