Good Points: Mil dot recticle Finger wind and elevation adjustment Parallax adjustment Quality feel and look Easy to zero
Bad Points: Lack of illumenated recticle
General comments: I've had this Tasco Varmint 2.5 - 10 X 42 scope for about two months now and have to say that I am impressed. As soon as I removed it from the box I could see that it was a quality piece of kit, despite it's relatively low price (£69.99). Zeroing the Varmint was easy and adjusting the scope for different ranges is just as straight forward. Thats the beauty of this scope. If you have the time to make all of the necessary adjustments you can but if you don't, as in hunting situations, you can use the MIL dot system. It took me about two hours to devise a system that let me use the scope to hit a target from 15 yards up to 50 yards and evey 5 yards in between. Therefore, in theory, if I new my ranges I can hit everything I put the crosshair or mildot on. Using the parallax adjustment helps in this area but it's not as accurate as a range finder or a trained eye. The only downside to this rifle is that it does not have an illuminated recticle which would have really helped me when out hunting as the daylight fades. However if I wanted a scope with the illuminated recticle it would have cost a lot more when added to all of the other features. I have seen scopes with all these features going for £200. Anyway I've said enough, if you want a scope for under a ton go and buy this one, you won't be disappointed.
