Cloud farm is set in a beautiful area good for walking and dogs are allowed on the site, though they weren't always kept under proper supervision. We went on a very busy weekend and the showers and toilets were totally inadaquate for the number of visitors, big queues for the ladies toilets and the showers in the morning. The showers were nice and hot but i didn't like the unisex arrangements separate blocks would be ideal. We stayed for 8 nights around the August Bank Holiday. The setting is fantastic next to the river with good walks/cycling up the Doone valley and on to Exmoor straight from the campsite. Friendly owners. The facilites whilst kept clean are basic and whilst the showers were hot & free not sure about the unisex arrangement with curtains to separate cubicles! For the price we would now expect better facilities than this. Unfortunately we had alot of rain and from other reviews it appears that... (read more)

I stayed a Cloud Farm last week. It was really nice to be in such a relaxed atmosphere. We had a fire every night and the children loved playing in the river.
They have recentely installed a new shower block with 6 power showers and the tewa rooms open late for anybody to get a bite to eat.
I would throughly recommend this to anyone one wants to camp on Exmoor.

I've just come back from a weekend at 'Cloud Farm' Doone Valley holidays. We were meeting friends here, but by mistake visted the Doone Valley Camping site, just over a pretty little bridge.
Whilst we had a lovely time at Cloud Farm camping by the river; there seemed to be a permanent fog and drizzle just above the campsite, when just down the road the weather seemed clear. Hence I guess the name 'Cloud Farm'.
It was a nice campsite, but as it is featured on the internet in several places...

In good weather it was perfect. We had a wonderful time at Cloud Farm Riverside Camping. Plenty of outdoorsy things to do. No materialistic interuptions. Open fires allowed. The children had hours of fun in the river & on the horse ride. Great walks. Fabulous home cooked food in the little shop. (read more)

Despite the scenery I couldn't recommend this site. It was expensive to stay here. There were extras for large tents, extras for awnings and extras for kitchen tents. The shop was well stocked and served fresh food and a large selection of homemade cakes. However, I felt the prices were overinflated and they took full advantage of the long drive to the nearest shop.
There was horseriding which is great if your kids are in to this but this means you need your wellies to avoid the muck. The...

Ok. The Doone Valley is very pretty. However, we would not recommend this campsite to anyone.
The bathroom and shower facilities were awful. We expected great facilities as it stated on their website that they had been recently refurbished.
On the website it makes it seem like their is an indoor area to consume goods bought on site as their is a table in the shop on the website. However, in reality there appears tp be nothing of the kind when you get there.
The drive in to the web site is an...

An amazing find in this day and age of sanitized sites where you almost have to keep of the grass! Camping as its meant to be! The facilities are very good, clean and well maintained. Our kids loved the place totally.
Although without our 4x4 we would definitely have gotten stuck like a lot of the cars in the mud in the middle of the field. The shop is very well stocked although as you expect they do make the most of having a captive client le's when it comes to the pricing! But no more than...

Chatting to fellow campers, the Cloud Farm Riverside campsite has its fans. However, at the prices charged I expected better washing-up facilities and more toilets and showers. One Butler sink with cold tap and the need to transport hot water from the toilet/shower block was not ideal.
Given the size of the site I expected more toilets and showers. 3 toilets and two small shower cubicles, and three hand basins for men. 4 toilets and two showers for the ladies. We also thought the shop...

Cloud Farm Riverside Camping is a wonderful place to camp and an excellent base for getting to know Exmoor. The campsite is right in the valley away from roads. We felt the shop had everything you could ever need for camping, the cream teas were fantastic and everyone there was super friendly and more than willing to help. There were really good washing and drying facilities and the loos were good and clean. Kids loved having the riding stables on tap and it was great to be able to have a... (read more)

Set in a picturesque valley, Cloud farm has both good points and bad. The worst being their facilities. Even though they were only built last year, the toilet facilities were below standard, with only one shower, two toilets and two sinks in the ladies, and just the one sink in the men's, positioned next to the toilet. There are three fields to this campsite, and there should really be a toilet block in each. campers don't mind spending a couple of pounds per night more if the facilities are... (read more)

Must say I totally agree with fayk. This review seems a little unfair and over critical!

Fantastic location and lovely setting. Kids played in river and we are rode the horses. Toilets very dirty and wouldn't fancy a shower here. Riding expensive and stable yard not too clean. Great if you want a totally 'organic style' camp site.

Can't say that I agree with you. They are really careful to limit the number of campers on the site at any one time so I don't feel that there is ever undue pressure on the facilities. I personally am very glad that they've kept it small and basic. It feels like a proper campsite rather than some sanitised touring park - and yes I've taken children and its been great.
