The Land Rover Discovery 200 2.5 TDi is a true all purpose vehicle in every sense of the word. Will travel up to seven people in comfort on road and supremely off it. This thing will take you virtually any where. Had mine a shortwhile but totally reliable and sounds good even after 180000 miles. Only the rapid corrosion will kill these trucks off prematurely

My Land Rover 300tdi is basically a very sound capable 4wd, some little faults but nothing big, its done nearly 300000 kms and doesn ' t use any oil or water, if you look after them, they ' ll look after you.

Had my Land Rover Discovery since new, 5th August 1992, and not once let me down, have traveled across Spain in it, even through the Alps in winter, its never once got into a situation it cant get itself out of, with a sensible driving foot it is capable of 40mpg (Tdi). as long as you maintain the car with regular oil checks it will keep on going. On road comfort is great, maybe a bit of lean on the corners, but what can be expected of a tall 4x4.
Treat it well, and it will treat you well.

Overall the Discovery TDi 200 was an excellent workhorse, Would sit 7 people, and still return over 30 mpg when towing.

This Land Rover Discovery has done 268,000 miles, serviced every 6000 miles with top end rebuild and rear suspension needing replacing. Still drives like a trojan - a real hard working vehicle, just keep it serviced and they keep going on. If you want a little more power consider the 3.9 V8 but get a gas conversion and its a similar price to run.

It's become a trusted friend. When off-roading, the only times my Land Rover Discovery 200 2.5 TDi has got stuck is when I have done something silly. Reliability is good. One or two breakdowns in three years for an old truck is acceptable to me.

Good family transport which I would find hard to replace with anything other than a Discovery. If and when I do up date it will be to a 300. I don't want or need self leveling suspension, etc. That's more to go wrong.

I bought my Land Rover Discovery 200 2.5 TDi when doing up a house. You can chuck most things in it and it does not complain, many bags of cement, timber and now even Children !
The height road position is addictive, the size means that BMW drivers don't fight too much.
It happily trundled around France last year.
At 13 years old it is now beginning to rust inside the doors and inside the wheel arches. 126K and second gear is getting interesting to select.
It has been towed in to the garage ...

I have owned a Land Rover Discovery 200 for over 8 years... now done 206,000 miles and still on the same engine and gearbox. Bodywork is starting to get a bit tatty, but it still passes it's MOT without too much expense. Over the years the real expenditure has been on repalcment brake disks, pads, caliper pistons. Also, new dampers and springs every 60k miles. The chassis is still okay, but gets waxoyled every year. The doors are rotting a bit at the bottoms.

Performance is okay, (for a dies ...

The Land Rover Discovery 200 2.5 TDi 4x4 is a very good car to own, it is comfortable, smooth to drive though slow in lower gears, very economical on fuel (I get 30 - 35 mls/gall) depending on conditions. It really comes into it's own when towing and the driving position is so good I don't want to change my car.
