I know that Baikal produces guns that have their own 'personality', but the MP512 I just sampled had a bit much for my liking.
The front stock screws were loose. If they were tightened all the way, they crunched down on the cocking link inside the stock and the gun didn't want to cock. Even with those screws loose, the cocking cycle was rough and a lot harder than it should be for a 9 ft-lb gun. Nice gun for the money mine is a 22 for $99.99 with a synthetic stock.
You need to clean the barrel real good with pure silicone oil before you shoot this gun or it will diesel. Owners manual has complete tear down instructions in both Russkiy and English. needs a good break in after that it has good hitting power and accuracy for a cheap gun. In fact it has a hammer forged barrel like a real firearm which gives it more accuracy.

There are tutorials that help smoothen out the trigger. After this operation and some practice the average groups narrowed down to 1" c-t-c over 30 meters (33 yards). Some shooters are able to get 0.75" groups consistently at this distance, but this is a rare case with me, hopefully should get there with more practice. Overall, a good… Read Full Review

As I took the Baikal MP-512M rifle out of the box, I was so stunt that is so rough built but eager to shoot it right away. First of all I inspected the rifle and found shinny spots looks like sticky tape was on it or from plastic wrapping; I think steel wool can take care of that. The Barrel and Receiver have very well bluing except on the breech where the cocking joint some bluing had came off looks like from cocking the gun. One that is so interesting is the rear sight; it looks like… Read Full Review
