“Dry Scaly Lips”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 1985Dickson on 23/04/2017

I have tried it about 3 times now. I wasn't sure the cause until I eliminated everything else and can say it is certainly the cover girl outlast lip color. I used is 2 days only and it starts to crack the sides of my mouth and then causes redness all the way around the lips. The only way to get rid of it is pure petroleum jelly only for many days or speed it up with a skin ointment like a bacterial cream. I was told steroids make it worse.

“Became allergic after many years of use!”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 09/02/2015

Absolutely loved this product, Cover Girl Outlast All-Day Lipcolor & have it in lots of colors. After using it for years, a few months ago I started to have problems with cracks in the corners of my lips & dry scaly lips. I thought I was having a vitamin deficiency & saw a Dr who did blood tests, which turned out to be normal. Had tried hydrocortisone cream around my lips which was recommended by a pharmacist & it keep it somewhat better. But you're not supposed to use that for more than 7 days & for external use only which is a problem if using in the lip area. The Dr had me quit using makeup & anything on my lips & it didn't get any better. Took pictures every day as it got worse. The only thing that worked was petroleum jelly to get rid of the problem. This was after trying to treat it with vinegar, coconut oil & honey. After the lips improved & no makeup for over two weeks I tried the All-Day Lipcolor again with a brand new tube & the scaly lips came back. Will throw out all that I have as I can no longer use it.

“Horrible, painful 7-days of allergic response”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 17/03/2014

I used Cover Girl Outlast lipstain for 5 days and then developed a painful, horrible allergic response. My tongue swelled, about a dozen taste buds became enlarged and sensitive, 9 ulcer and blister broke out on my inner cheeks and lips, and my gums were flaming red/purple and swollen, a sore throat, and, the worse, my facial nerve swelled and formed a glioma, which made half my face burn for 4 days. After a $165 visit to my doctor, 10 days of Amoxycillin, and 8 days of a 3X daily mouthwash of Nystatin, lidocaine, antacid and benadryl, I was finally able to eat normally and have symptoms subside. After reading the other on-line blogs about this product, it is unconscionable that Cover Girl continues to sell this product. The only good news is that I lost weight during the 5 days I couldn't chew.

“I first purchased the Cover Girl Outlast All-Day...”

★★★★★

written by Citronella on 13/04/2005

I first purchased the Cover Girl Outlast All-Day Lipcolor about 8 months ago and now own at least 10 different shades. I was absolutely stunned! A lip color that actually lasts all day and requires no maintenance other than the occasional application of the matching moisturizer. Eating, drinking, showering, you name it, this stuff lasts and lasts.
On the down side: I wear it on an almost daily basis and unfortunately, after all this time I seem to have developed an allergy to it. After about 7 hours of wear my lips start feeling itchy on the upper edges and when I take the lip color off, they start to blister. It made me wonder about the shelf life of this product and I checked out the packaging. No expiration date to be found there. I keep my lipsticks in the powder room cabinet, so there being stored in cool, dark, dry place.
Is anybody else out there who has the same problem or is it just me? Please keep in mind that none of my lip color tubes are older than about 4-5 months.
I'm going to give Max Factor's Lipfinity a try, just to see if the same problem occurs.

I am allergic (or hyper-sensitive) to the topcoat after many years of using Outlast. The lip color doesn't seem to cause the reaction. I've been using the lip color with a different brand lip gloss (or Carmex) on top.
