Good Points: Warranty replaced DVD drive without question (but turned out to be a software issue, where I had to bring video acceleration down to minimum... how does that make sense)? It's fast. I should have paid for a bit more memory.
Bad Points: Very heavy. Customer support is all scripted until you get passed to the "specialist" who knows what he's talking about.
General comments: It runs every program I've tried to run, plays about 95% of games, but obviously it's not got a powerful graphics card. Nothing major has gone wrong with it, but my step dads Dell Inspiron 5150's power port snapped on the motherboard. My girlfriends 1100 overheats because of dust in the fan inlet, and these all use the same chassis. I have got 3 months until my Dell Inspiron 5160 laptops 2 year anniversary, and the battery has started showing signs of its death.

I bought the Dell Inspiron 5160 laptop because I needed a Pentium 4 laptop. It serves a purpose for me, but I wouldn't recommend anyone else buying one. It's very heavy. It gets very hot, and the AC adapter failed just outside the warranty.
As a company, Dell's support isn't brilliant, because you'll usually get someone who doesn't speak very good English.

The Dell Inspiron 5160 is a poor computer, and Dell provide even poorer service.
We purchased our system less than 6 months ago. We have already experienced severe technical problems, and two weeks ago were informed that the system required a replacement motherboard.
We had purchased a guarantee which meant that any problems with the system would be repaired withing 24 hours. Two weeks later, and we are still waiting.
Take the time to look online at the many pages of customer complaint ...
