My new computer will not be an Acer - I cannot recommend Acer.
I would always recommend the 3 year warranty - built in obsolescence seems to kick in just after one year. Wonder why? Therefore I do not recommend Acer Travel Mate 4001LCI

Have purchased several laptops from Acer in previous years when quality was better.
Would never buy from this company any more.

I purchased two Acer Travelmate laptop computers (4000LCI and 4001LCI) for my daughters school work. Both units developed the same flaw, with the DC power supply module preventing a charge of the battery or general computer use. Both units developed the same flaw between the first and second year of use. The cost of repair is over $100 each.

The keyboard is an unusual shape, but is actually one of the most pleasant laptop keyboards I've used (must be something to do with ergonomics). The screen is bright and clear with relatively good definition. The ...
